Hi there, I'm from Australia and hoping to buy tickets for the April 27 show at Tokyo Dome. As I'm only going over for the one show I'd like to try to go for VIP tickets, but don't want to miss out on regular tickets if that falls through... Is it best to go via the Pia website presale lottery?

If you want to secure a ticket. Presales at Ticket Pia is a choice. But it is a lottery and it is very possible that you end up with a nosebleed seat. As for VIP, it was almost impossible to get one as the site crushed. General sales were also difficult.

I would love to go to Japan, but it has always looked like tickets were hard to obtain, and you never knew exactly where your seat was going to be. I wish the best of luck to those who will try, and hopefully you will get a good spot!

Keep your eyes and ears open for, hopefully, a Crowdsurge presale on this site. I had no problem getting tickets for the cancelled shows that way last summer. And you were given an exact seat location...no lottery seating. Crowdsurge also had a presale for the Fall 2013 shows. Be aware, however, that the Crowdsurge presale took place after Ticket Pia and the local Japanese sites went on sale. And , yes, trying to go through the Japanese sites was hopeless! So don't panic if you see Ticket Pia on sale before Crowdsurge. Good luck!

One show; two max in Tokyo would of been sufficient especially in a dome.

I hope this lottery system for VIP packages will not be used in other countries, otherwise a lot of fans might end up not having neither a package nor a regular ticket. By the way, are VIP packages in such great demand in Japan that it's necessary to use a lottery? Was was it like in previous years?

I don't think you need to worry about this system being implemented in South America. Japan has a long history of ticket lotteries for concerts, especially for pre-sales. In both 2013 and 2014, there were three sets of ticket lotteries (one after the other) before the tickets went on general sale, and I suspect the same will happen again this year (there is currently a lottery that ends on February . However, this is the first time that a lottery has been used for the VIP tickets. In 2013, they didn't sell out straight away and there was no problem that I am aware of. However, in 2014, the ticket sales site crashed when the VIP tickets went on sale (maybe the word had got around by then and many people were just unaware of the VIP tickets in 2013?). So, I suspect they are trying to avoid a repeat of the same situation this year. Last year, I tried to buy a VIP ticket and I found it absolutely impossible, with the system crashing at various points in the process (sometimes even at the final step) - though that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Also, the original plan for this year was to leave the VIP ticket sales until the general sales date (February 28, I think), which would have meant that people who missed out on VIP tickets would have ended up with the worst tickets because the best ones would have sold while they were trying to buy VIP. Now that the VIP sales have been moved forward, people will know whether or not they have VIP tickets before the general sales. So, it might even be better in that respect. Cheers, Andrew.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if ANYONE on here managed to buy Japanese VIP tickets in 2013 or 2014 with a NON-Japanese-issued credit card via outthere-japantour.com / kyodotokyo.com? I have read conflicting things about whether or not this is actually possible, so I'd appreciate any insights. Cheers, Andrew.

If you check this link, you will notice that the company selling the packages is SloTix, which has always accepted my Brazilian credit card for VIP packages in any country. I'm sure the same will apply to your Australian card. https://slotix.com/tours/paul-mccartney/out-there-in-asia/d59588064412274a721f736da40cfef2VwR2ZlV%3D You will also notice that there's no lottery system for the concert in South Korea, just for the ones in Japan. By the way, VIP packages in Asia cost at least 500 dollars less than in South America. Front Row apparently costs 1,000 dollars less than in the US. I'm sure it's one of the reasons they sell out that fast: http://outthere-japantour.com/sc_e.html

Hi Carlos, Thanks for that, but the links on the Slotix website just take you to outthere-japantour.com, which I believe means that you ultimately have to purchase through kyodotokyo.com. That's what happened last year, and the same seems to be happening this year (except that it's now a lottery also). If you look at the other events that Slotix current have on sale, few or none of them are actually sold directly through the Slotix website at the moment. I've looked at this before, so I know exactly what you mean about the South American gigs (and Korea was sold the same way last year) - but this seems to be the exception, rather than the rule. I much prefer the Slotix interface, so I wish they would use it for all countries! Cheers, Andrew.

Exactly the same thing happened to me with the VIP tix website last year Andrew, actually had two VIPs reserved for 15 minutes to process payment as the site shuddered to a halt....I ended up getting regular tix through Crowdsurge and went over to Japan.....well you know the rest of the story there.... I'm in the same boat as you - from Australia, biting the bullet and going for VIP tix. I don't want to miss out...due to my work I can only go to one show - the first one in Osaka or the last one in Tokyo - I'm wondering whether to apply for both and let that decide for me which one to go to, but I don't want that to prove to be a disadvantage for me if they see I'm applying for whatever I can get my hands on - I don't know how these things work, but I guess it is a lottery after all! Just hoping for the best I guess!

Hi Davey I'm sorry that you went all that way for nothing last year. I found out about the Crowdsurge onsale too late, so I didn't get any tickets and dodged a bullet. Regarding the lottery, from what I've been able to find out, nobody except the ticket vendors knows exactly how they decide who gets what. Sometimes with these lotteries, the way it works is that you rank order the shows that you are able to go to. I don't know if that will be the system here, or whether the lottery for each show will be separate. Apparently, there is very high demand for Osaka and the second Tokyo show (on Saturday), where many people in the Beatles Club presale who could only go to one of these shows have missed out on tickets in the club presale (but there are still other presales that they can try). So, this might be worth bearing in mind if it's only possible to apply for tickets to one show, or in determining your order of preference (if applicable). If it is a rank order system, I don't know whether they will simply pick people at random (one-at-a-time) and then assign them their highest available preference, or if they will do something more sophisticated designed to maximise the number of ticket sales. (In this case, I think the VIPs will sell out whatever they do, but I'm speculating about an existing computer algorithm that they might apply to all of their lotteries by default.) Either way, it may be that each person can only buy tickets to one show.
