Does anybody know if they'll be airing the show on TV? If so, would it be possible for us unlucky ones who didn't get to go to watch it online?
-
This is not my video, but I just saw it and wanted to share the link.
You can hear the happiness in the crowd when he rolls the window down and waves. -

I'll have to clarify (to my self) something I read way earlier in this thread - but I thought I read something about this show being broadcast at some point...but I don't recall if it was a Canadian broadcast live or something that was being taped for a later use. But if you sift through the thread, you should be able to find it. I know Martin provided a link to the beginning of the thread. But in this case you may have better luck working backwards...because I think the link to the story was more recent than not.

Thanks Rich, it does look like the show is being taped for later use. Guess I'll have to be patient for once and wait until his show in Fenway to see him

Thanks so much for posting the youtube links! Feels like I'm there - ok, not really - but thanks anyway. It's going to be a great show!

Hi there, you lucky ones! How was the concert?
-
May be a good idea to have a separate thread that contains the new set list...for those who want to know.

First news report via The Canadian Press Drive MY Car~ By Steve Macleod And Elizabeth Mcmillan ? 1 hour ago HALIFAX, N.S. ? More than four decades after his music helped turn the pop world on its ear, Paul McCartney can still pack them in like few else. Tens of thousands gathered on the Halifax Common on Saturday night as McCartney performed his lone Canadian concert of the year. From the opening chord of "Drive My Car," the 67-year-old former Beatle and his crack backup band had the crowd eating out of his hand. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5hsJrzdbwm0tiEyztVjJ3KxZCMGmw no setlist posted~ another tidbit below CTV http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090711/Halifax_McCartney_091011/20090711?hub=Entertainment Newsweek http://www.newsweek.com/id/206157

Ther should be a main news item about the set list which members can visit. With so many up-coming concerts we're trying to limit the numbers of threads per show. So please keep posts to the existing thread for each concert. I have linked to the start of today from the first post in this thread to allow members to speed dial into the concert chat itself. I found this:

Um, whtta mean his "crack back up band?"
The adjective "crack" in this context means "of the highest quality" You often hear the word used about soldiers - a crack troop" - it does mean the elite or best. So it's a compliment Martin

I found this:
Looks like the same uploader that posted sound check clips recorded from the road nearby. Or another person from the same vantage point! Should be getting clips from within the venue later. Martin

NYC Paul fan:
Paul is doing song called Nova scotia jam. Doing updates on Twitter maggieclarke. I think I've got all the songs so far on soundcheck
Thanks Maggie! For those that don't tweet - myself included - you can read Maggie's twitter entries at her Twitter account here: http://twitter.com/maggieclarke Martin

Just got back from the Halifax show. Fantastic as always! The set list was similiar to recent shows. Paul opened with Drive My Car. He and the band played for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, coming on just after 9:00. He also did Mull of Kintyre with local bagpipe players as he has done previously in Canada. Day Tripper was one of the encores, which I have not heard him play before. One fan held up a sign asking Paul to sign her arm so she could get her arm tatooed with his signature. Paul read the sign after signing Calico Skies and brought her up and signed her arm with a Sharpie before the next song. It was a beautiful night, especially since my wife and I were able to bring our 7 year old son to his first Paul concert. Those of you waiting for the upcoming shows are in for a treat! Now If I can just scrape together some funds for a trip to Atlanta next month...

HALIFAX, N.S. ? For more than 2 1/2 hours he performed the soundtrack of their youth, and through it all they sang along with him, swayed arm-in-arm with their spouses or children and, at times, even cried. Tens of thousands gathered on the Halifax Common on Saturday night as Paul McCartney brought one of the most venerated canons in all of pop and rock to the Nova Scotia capital. From the moment he strolled onto the massive stage in a Beatlesque dark blue suit and carrying his iconic Hofner bass, the 67-year-old pop legend held the crowd in his thrall. And from the opening chord of the Beatles' classic "Drive My Car," the sea of people that covered much of the recreational green space in central Halifax stood and cheered. "Can you believe the energy?" screamed fan Susan Wellmann before McCartney came out for a second encore. "This is the best concert ever in Halifax." Backed by his ace band of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., keyboardist Paul (Wix) Wickens and guitar players Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray, McCartney performed 36 songs during the two hour and 38 minute performance - his first-ever in Atlantic Canada and his only one in Canada this year. "Good evening Halifax. Good evening Nova Scotia. Good evening Canada," McCartney said early into a set list heavy with Beatles, Wings and solo classics. Through it all, he chatted with the crowd, told stories and seemed to enjoy and appreciate every minute of it. One of the night's highlights came early in "Calico Sky" when he flubbed a line after looking into the crowd to see a teenage girl holding a sign that read: Will you sign my arm so I can get it tattooed? He finished the song, brought the ecstatic girl on stage and signed her shoulder with a marker. As a bemused McCartney looked on, she ran screaming around the stage to hug the band before being escorted off by security. "You'd better get the tattoo done now," he said as she left to laughter and cheers. OMFG!!~ that shoulda been me!!~ to go with my other tatoos~
