Helter Skelter!:
I live in Montreal and I will see Paul McCartney in concert in Halifax on July 11th! I'm 21 and i'm going with my 10 year old brother! we saw him in Quebec City last summer, and i also saw him in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre in 2002! man o man, it's gonna tke 21 hours to travel from Montreal to Halifax (we're going by train)...but hey a Paul McCartney concert is worth all this! i really wish that he would come to Montreal...he hasn't come to Montreal since 1989! man o man...
Very happy for you and your brother you will see Paul again. Indeed it's worth to travel a long way to see a Paul concert. I have seen him many times over the years and every time I was happy I made the travel to see him singing & enjoying. Have a safe travel and take care for your 10 years old brother.

I bet you this is what's gonna happen. Once this radio contest is all said and done, here will be the top 5 songs: Yesterday Let It Be Hey Jude The Long & Winding Road Live & Let Die That being said, I have no problem with Paul playing those songs cause I love them. It's just ashame since he's gonna play those anyway and that's probably what's gonna happen.

Maybe right, but still submit your original ideas Paul might yet pick up a new song along his travels again. Mrs Vandervilt was a completely unexpect surprise from Kiev and it has stuck in the repertiore for a while. I am reminded though of the old "Magic Kettle" trick perfomed by magicians - which has several pre-loaded drinks in hidden compartments inside - the magician then gets the audience to shout out drink names all at the same time and - of course - somebody is bound to call for one or other of the drinks due to be poured. Keep shouting though - you may indeed get to call the "new song" Paul choses for Halifax and his "US Tour" as he is now calling his latest series of dates. Martin

Caught a blurb from the promoter on last night's news that there will be a soundcheck for 50 fans and a possible meet and greet. I thought I heard it was a contest but can't find anything on the web. Anyone heard how they are going to select the 50? DCD Ltd.
-
I understand the regular concert goers wanting new songs played, but as a first timer living in Halifax, I am still interested in hearing some of my favourites...so, my list is: 1. She came in through the bathroom window (I want this one played the most - he did in Quebec...but not in Vegas or Cochella). 2. Follow me 3. All my loving 4. Follow the sun 5. Something

I wonder if this is for the groups buying the "tents"? Bob Gannons post here hinted that something similar could be in the pipeline: http://macca.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=71137 Martin

I don't think so - I think the contest is going to be open to anyone attending the concert. No details have been released on the details of the contest, yet, though. DCD - I caught it on the news last night too, and am equally curious what the contest will entail!

My family is flying up from Florida the Thursday before the concert. We will be staying until Monday and thought we would make this our summer vacation as well. We are thinking of going on a whale watching tour in Lunenburg as well as visiting Peggy's cove. Any suggestions or comments from those of you familiar with the area? Thanks.

Peggy's Cove is beautiful - they have a monument honouring the SwissAir flight that crashed just off the coast of Peggy's Cove in 1998. The monument is just past the tourist-lighthouse site. Beautiful spot, stunning really. I actually just visited Mahone Bay and Lunenburg for the first time a couple of weeks ago (I'm originally from another province, but have been living in Halifax for 8 years). Both places are quaint and beautiful. I highly recommend visiting JoAnn's Deli Mart & Bake Shop in Mahone Bay (you have to drive through Mahone Bay to get to Lunenburg). We had "Peanut Butter Pie", and it was delish (I hear some people drive from Halifax just to get their pies!). One thing we noticed about Lunenburg is that it has a LOT of restaurants, so I'm sure you'll find a great spot to grab a bite there. They also have this cave-touring thing in Lunenburg that would be worth a go! Make sure you take your camera anywhere you go - it's a beautiful province and you never know when you'll want to snap a shot. If you'd like some recommendations for places to eat, etc., just let me know. I'm more than happy to play tour-guide! Ha ha. Happy and safe travels.

The Tall Ships are actually from July 16-August 1. Some ships arrive early, but the festivities don't actually start until the following weekend. Just depends on how long your visit is! There's lots to do in the city, too, depending on how long you'll be here!

I'll be flying up from Florida as well. I live in Maine (much closer to Halifax), but we're talking a family trip to Walt Disney World. It'll be the first time I fly alone!

Funny enough - I'm heading to the Florida heat (Naples) on the 17th ...I get back in Boston about a week ahead of the Fenway concert. I guess I must be crazy...hot, humid and no breeze (unless a hurricane hits ) Speaking of things like that - I see you're from Jacksonville...I saw a video of a spectacular waterspout in the St Johns the other day. Did you get to see that. Edit: Here is that video from your home town
-
I did not see the waterspout myself, but several people I know did. Fortunately, there was no major damage or injuries. I happened to be in a department store at the time. An announcement was made over the PA system that a funnel cloud had been spotted and we were all asked to move to the center of the store for a few minutes away from the windows...
-
Received my tickets in the mail yesterday, I was a little worried about getting them. We will be driving up from Pennsylvania next week and like some others, hope to spend some time in Nova Scotia on vacation. Lyman
