This one could've been avoided, because she didn't need to pretend to lay the flute: Katy Perry:

I have no idea who this band is, but...wow...but this dude is a trooper and keeps on going after he gets busted lip-syncing:

Both are funny. Katy's fail is not bad, at least if she sings live. And I like that she laughed about it too. The second one is only okay because i think it's a tv-show where they have to perform playback. Would that happend during a live-concert, I would leave. I don't go to concerts to see karaoke.

Katy's is worse. Why fake a flute/recorder solo? Makes no sense.

I guess just for fun. I wouldn't take that so serious. šŸ˜‰

So, Rusty should fake all his guitar solos, then? It's no problem if Dylan can mime his harmonica parts? I would be insulted if I were in that audience.

I hesitate to post this one, because I wanted Leroy Bell to win last year's U.S. X Factor. I can't believe this guy is 60! Anyway, on one episode, he had a lip-sync fail in a group show-opener, which the producers required contestants to lip-sync:

Here's Nirvana completely making a mockery of the backing track nature of Top of the Pops. Kurt singing 'Crash Test Dummies' style lol

its like trying to catch the sun on the water..

Mmmmmmm um um um mmmmmmmmmmm Sounds a little like Joy Division, too. John Mellencamp did something similar back when he was still "John Cougar." He and his band were American Bandstand performing "Hurts So Good"(?). They used all acoustic instruments and other instruments that were clearly not on the real record.

Oasis did a "fail" playback at Top of the Pops too. Of course on purpose they switched the singer's, Liam, and lead-guitarist Noel's places, so that Noel "sung" and Liam "played guitar", so sometimes you see that Noel "failed" to sing the right words and Liam "failed" to play the guitar-solo right. Funny thing.
