Great call on doing Golden Earth Girl Audi, I vote yay and good call on the metronome.. it's got to be in time. slow and warm. like a sunrise.
Indeed! Ollie is a great pianist; maybe we'll have something for you before too long.
Cannot wait to hear that piano opening Ollie and the broken chord acoustic guitar.. the wobbly recorder (or whatever that is : ), the gentle horns, heavy 1 & 3 on the bass.. What a soundscape. Paul?s vocal is really gentle yet firm on it as well. The way he holds those notes at the end of phrases, and lets them taper off.. tough stuff. Good luck I know its not professional or anything but you guys are setting the bar high with these choices! I like it. I was reading elsewhere that you were going to take on Coming Up.. man alive. Who and how are you going to accomplish that fast staccato horn or what ever that is? Is that tapping the keys on a synth really quickly? or is someone planning on breaking out a kazoo? what instrument does Paul use there :
So that IS a kazoo!!! Well... clears that up!

well... nothing much to say... Lately I've been singing a lot "Trouble" (perhaps because that scene with a little stage on a bar reminds me of the place...) in that special karaoke. I think this Sunday was the fourth and I wanted to change something (I wonder how Paul can feel after singing a song for the 200th time). So I kind of "acted" similar to Elvis, in a drunk, angry style, angrier than Elvis and less drunk . That's not new for me... but in the end I remembered the shoulders movements in time with the music and I did the same. I didn't know how people were going to react to that.... but they liked that a lot. Not that I liked it very very much but I think it's starts something about "certain movements" while singing for me. Elvis-King Creole movie "Trouble"
"the movement you need is on your shoulder"You sang Trouble???????? I'm impressed! By the way: I suggested in the "Golden Earth Girl" thread that you and I should so that song. Wanna make me a piano track? Also, do you use a metronome? I don't have one, but they can be quite helpful.

yes, I always sing "Trouble" now, (lately I've had other "permanent choices" like Bohemian Rhapsody, Hey Jude, Whole Lotta Love...). The thing is a great great song to sing cause there's lots of silences, I mean the singer is all alone without any background music and that's great. I kind of make it more Elvis-like than Elvis. I've just replied about GEG... so you want to sing it? okey... I want to sing it too . Well, I've thought a way to do it and I guess you have thought another, so I think we just can do both. No, I've never used a metronome... the thing is play the piano 99% of the time as solo piano, improvising, composing, so there's no beat to follow, so I'm not used to that. I think the best metronome is to listen to the original while playing... I have a thing for changing the beats of music chords, kind of that syncopation about Elvis-singing, but in your version I'll make in time (I hope :lol Now I'm not such a great pianist but I'll see what I can do. So we do 2 versions. And hello kapoo... the thing is we don't use to do songs just like recorded. I always like to change things, changing the vocals, the arrangements... If not I feel like I'm just copying and not creating a thing. I may be wrong but I use to think "hey that could be better this way" and maybe it's not neccesarily better but at least is not the same you have already heard... But I must admit sometimes I just copy... like in that part where Elvis sings "Glory glory hallejuhah..." cause I couldn't imagine a better way...

hey I'm definitely up for any rendition you guys want to put together. its such a tremendous song, it'll fly. I'm just a guy talkin over here actually writing.. audi, at least thats what I was thinking.. sounds kazooish, right? (not kapooish, that's something different ) but it just sounds a little windy to me to be a sax or something. if it is a kazoo though, that's still tough to play especially those like 20 note runs he does, that start low go high and come back down, you know what I'm saying? but then again you guys can probably pull it off.. seems quick to me.

the thing is coming up can be done in lots of ways, well, Paul has made it in lots of ways... Hey don't worry that keyboard part is not so complicate for me, I'm used for similar things. I'm not used for that things many classic piano players do of doing runs up and down the black notes... for instance. Probably cause I don't find a point in playing like that . That solo is similar to many Mozart melodies... the famous McCartney-Mozart connection. Sound familar?
I would like Paul to sing this someday, If not I guess I will sing it in the end. -
This might be too out-of-left-field, but whenever I'm listening to the instrumental break in "Golden Earth Girl," I often find myself singing lines from "Wanderlust" over it. The part that goes: "Oh where did I go wrong, my love ... what pety crime was I found guilty of..." It fits well. I might try that.

Since you guys are discussing music (yes please do Golden Earth Girl!!!), I also got my guitar out this afternoon...
Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound....originally a Tom Paxton song, but Simon & Garfunkel covered it, and I like their version the most. And sorry, it's headless! -
I love, love, love, love the way you play guitar!

Yeah, I wish. I need many, many takes before I can record a seemingly seamless guitar track. You have no idea about all the things that go wrong from the minute I push that "record" button.

Hey Everybody! Finally got internet again.... jeez, its been a while, hasn't it? ops: I missed this place!

You picked a good time to pop in. New songs are starting to appear semi-regularly again. (B: Still hopin' to hear your version of "Mama's Little Girl" ... just sayin'...)

I love the way she plays too... I wish I could play like that!!! Evie, I know what you mean... Once I push the record button, it seems like I'm bound to screw up 100 times before I get something decent sounding. Honestly though, I don't think anyone can get something EXACTLY right on the first take anyway!!!

Hey Audi! That's awesome! Just like this place should be! (Yes, DEFINITELY... Bjorn should do "Mama's Little Girl". C'mon, Bjorn! )

Glad to see you, to Evie!!! You know, everything pretty much has remained the same with me.... I such a boring person, I tell you. : At the moment, I'm off for the summer with nowhere to go, nothing to do and no money to do it with. By the way, what's new with you?

One of my best buddies just visited your state this past weekend. He said he never drank so much in life. Apparently, drink-specials are really awesome in New Orleans. Got any music for us?

You guys might like this. Another GW-type band has formed in the "WHAT'S THAT YOU'RE DOING?" Forum. We're called The Macca Forum Band/The MaccaBoardies. We did a version of "Let Me Roll It" last week: LET ME ROLL IT:
We're working on "Coming Up" this week. The thread can be found here: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75347&start=60 -a -

I rarely go to New Orleans for just that reason! If I did, I'd be wasted all the time!! He must have hit up Bourbon Street. Every building on that street is either bar or a strip club... : The music is great though. If I ever go down there, it would probably be for the music.... Maybe. Oh yeah...Negative on the music from me... I have nothing to offer at the moment...sorry. ops:
