Here's my latest headless video... Kathy's Song...such a pretty song!
I could make a CD of all your recordings and read a good book by a nice, crackling fire. Your vocals and playing are so soothing.

SusyLuvsPaul:
thanks for this info. i say, it'll be fun to see and listen to all the entries they deem worthy--makes me wish like heck someone had agreed to place a tune to my admittedly kind of odd lyrics, and made a vid of me singing it with them providing musical accompanionment in the back ground, hee hee. man would i have got a kick out of that of being featured, too are many other winning entries already being shown on paul's you tube channel, meat free mondays section, is that where you said?--oh--these are on a special 'meat free monday' channel just for the cause
Their facebook's profile links to their youtube channel (very "21st Centurish" www.youtube/supportmfm, you can listen there the songs they have choosen as favourites.
you must have jumped for joy, absolutely burst with pride, over how they acknowledged and praised your work, oliver. wow you lucky (also talented) duckie
yes, it made me very happy. For 2 reasons: the cause behind it (I don't know if it will "change the world", but I guess it's gonna change something) and the man behind it (the musician I admire the most). If my music liked to a record label or so I could make a living but I don't think I will be half the happy I am because of this. I always thought that record labels, managers, magazine journalists, etc opinions don't mind cause they don't know much about music. It's great musicians opinions what counts for me. Now it didn't needed to be the best musician ever opinion (or whoever choosen by him). But I like some positive feedback after all this time. :
when did this happen? can you provide a link to your praised effort? i'm sure i'm not the only one who would love to see it. you've really piqued loads of interest. i'm glad for you, barcelona boy oh, wow
a link to their comment? well, if you know facebook, any user posts comments, it's a comment on their profile on July 9th. I've just saved my screen image to keep it. The link it's still there if you scroll down to look for older posts. or do you mean a link to the song? I've posted it lots of times... well...
I know, there's no much technique in my singing, but I had enough on thinking on the lyrics, the webcam and that was then a "Paul McCartney song contest" to think about how I was singing... It's kind of my... "If I Can Dream", only feeling. I really believe in the lyrics of the song, I'm a not veggie but I believe people eats too much meat, even myself and we'd better eat less. I don't say "Meat free Monday" in all the song, I just say what I think about it. For the lyrics, I thought I couldn't write anything about this, except preachy or cheesy things.... I took quite a Lennon approach, one topic for each verse... I focused on the biggest effects of the world eating "too much meat" (pollution, hunger, getting fat). And I had a verse left to make it less preachy meaning we're all learning and making mistakes all the time (of course me too...). I was thinking about the kind of lyrics I would do for a long time with no great idea, and in the end I wrote everything in 5 minutes (as usual in me). As Paul himself was the instigator of this "sure you can do better than that, c'mon, send your songs!", I wanted to include some Paul's lyrics line on the song. Not something some obvious like "Hey Jude, you eat too much meat"... and in the end it was "People struggling to survive" from Peace In the Neighbourhood. I thought I didn't have time to write new lyrics, record the video, writing music and recording it. So I used the music of another song, I have the playback of that, it sounds good, it's not a home-recording, I though the occasion was worth to make a song that sounded great. so, now you know all about it, not a penny for me for doing this, but money can't buy that feedback... And the thing is I'm eating less meat since I did it. I sometimes remember my own song. Maybe it will work for others, I don't know.... IIIII don't know... -
I've just done my first official interview. There's a social network in Spain interested in kind of promoting bands... Besides the interview, I've been asked if I thought that it would be great if they created a place where some people could post lyrics and others could record music over them, etc. Kind of what we do here. And I've told them I've been doing this for a long time, (recording music with people all over the world) and that it's very interesting. I don't know what will come out of this. It's a social network, combined with a radio station, a music promoter and some organizations. Maybe they will be interested in the Macca Board way of doing music, who knows. They have a contest and make interviews to the musicians. As they're far away from where I live, we've done it by e-mail. I thought it was gonna be harder for me, but after 12000 posts talking about music, and some about my music, it felt familiar. I asked Stefan (silvermoondog) to do a little interview to me some time ago, to practice in case I had to do some in the future. I can't remember what he asked but my answer was a very long long one and complicated. Too long. So this time I have just keep it simple. (the interview, not this post :lol E-mail Interview (translation :-P): (the same questions are asked to every musician or band, I guess...) How would you describe your music? I write the music I would like to hear. Where does your name come from? It's my real name. What are your favourite bands? What are the ones you identify your music the most? The Beatles and Queen. Any band you would like to line with (they mean "playing in the same festival") in a festival? No, I don't mind. Tell us a little something about yourself, who you are, where do you do your rehearsals... Well... I write songs since a long time ago and I record them in my house (a little bit too simple... ) How did you know about the contest? I received an e-mail What's the most difficult thing for you when writing a song? It is not difficult for me, I write songs easily. Which are the biggest problems for a band like you that's starting up? To find a place where I can play.

Good luck, Ollie!

Thank you, here I go again and again and again...

People uses to say I'm a great piano/keyboard player but I'm not really. This is kind of Lesson #1, and I didn't have a clue about a thing.
on the other hand I can officially say that I've beaten the rejections register of The Beatles (200), reaching 250 rejections. : -
I've always done oldies so I thought of recording something new: Neutron Star Collision (piano and vocals only version)

new recordings of some old originals. I kind of sing them 90% like the way they are on my mind. That's enough for the moment, I can always get back in the future and do yet a different vocal track. You've Got Yourself Make A Better World
-
You are quite the lyricist, bro. The second file wouldn' play. I like the haunting quality of "You've Got Yourself." I would like to hear you sing it in a deeper voice, though.

Thank you. Now the 2nd plays. Well, if I sing it deeper it would more.... quiet... and in my head has always a little bit dramatic, not like Can't Help Falling In Love. But well, that's yet another possibility for the future. I'm actually preparing a different version but it's higher not lower, and faster, kind of like Maybe I'm Amazed-style.

as there is not much going on here... I'm gonna post what is not supossed to belong here! Elvis and me, (long time ago) - Suspicious Minds (live!)

Well, I did in some. I don't like much to do harmonies... I don't think I could have done that then anyway.

Well, here's more new stuff. I wrote this long time ago. It's about the fear of falling in love, etc. (8 minutes 16 seconds) I'm Gonna Fall In Love Today

You write well -- your influences are VERY evident. I love it when you sing in your natural voice. I'm back & forth on the falsetto stuff.

I've never ever recorded myself singing in falsetto voice. It's all "natural voice" I guess you mean songs without highs. Well, as you say "use it or lose it", I don't want my highs to atrophy... Though very often I doubt in what part of my range should I sing each song. Well, in this song is not so easy to spot the influences. It's kind of weird, who does remind you of?. Now, this is my weird stuff. Not my weirdest at all... When I was a teen I was very influenced by The Beatles, because it was virtually the only great music I had listened to. Then, when I was 20, I sort of discovered lots of things and now I guess I'm a mix of them all but none in particular. The older I get the weirder my stuff or so.
-
I had to create kind of a rule to choose in which key I should sing every song. I think about how intense or quiet I want the song to be. If it was Paul's stuff, it could be sooo quiet that it's almost dead "Travelling Light" or so intense that it's almost mad "Rode All Night" (not falsetto either) well, if you miss my old, rough times... a little more revival Elvis and me-If I Can Dream (live)
-
do you know what made me think about the Impossible Duets? The silences in Suspicious Minds, there is enough time there to add another vocals. "We're caught in a trap (we're caught in a trap) I can't walk out (I can't walk out)" etc I've just thought of another song with the same thing, and I've just done the recording. Roy Orbison and me - California Blue (not live this time)

I think I don't have to tell you why this belongs here: http://www.paulmccartney.com/news.php#/2022/2010-10 I think I'll do a very "Oliver" version
