Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
B J Conlee:
New is such a great CD and so many of the songs are made to be done live. Such a great opportunity for our South American friends if these rumors are true.
I bet fans in the US, UK, Europe and Canada will surely hear those NEW songs live pretty soon as well!
nobodytoldme:
Yes, and apart from that, history proved 75% of the definitive info surrounding south-American concerts get leaked anyway, haha!
That's true. I guess those involved in the negotiations get too excited to keep quiet, and the publicity generated by those rumors helps to sell tickets even faster once they are finally available. By the way, what about USA and UK/EU shows? I can't remember what it has been like in the past 4-5 years, but usually not too many details get leaked in advance, right?

Carlos, there has been occasional press speculation/rumors regarding NA concerts in the past but not to the extent that it occurs in Latin America.

I guess they are better at keeping secrets! By the way, do the fans in the US/UK/EU get together at Paul's hotels, airports and stadiums to try and get close to him, or do they usually give him personal space and just show up at the venue on the day of the concert?

This is why Paul takes so long to announce his tours: he still uses Windows 98! Newspaper article about the upcoming concert in Lima: Here is the source for both pictures: https://www.facebook.com/Beatlesperu

Well, when people have gone on record in recent years, negotiations seem to have fallen through (Las Cruces, Minneapolis). As for fans massing at Paul's hotel, there didn't seem to be much of that here last year but it certainly has happened on previous tours, if not on the scale seen in Latin America (or Japan). Here is the scene in Pittsburgh in 2010:

The last thing. For example McCartney was in The Netherlands for a whole day before his concert over here in 2012, and nobody disturbed him. (Funnily enough this week a story emerged of someone who met him in the hotel lobby that day). There will always be a small group waiting for his arrival at the venue though. And it's a big continent, with different cultures. In Italy I experienced people queuing up at his hotel.

No, it would be a huge faux-pas in the industry over here. I remember for the Good Evening Europe tour in December 2009 a French newspaper reported about a potential date in Paris that month, rest of the dates were an absolute shock surprise. In 2012 a big Dutch television program stated in one sentence "[..] and [McCartney] will bring his new show to The Netherlands in late March" during a quick news overview without any details, and 2 days later that show got announced. That's about it.

The UK dates are being announced this month apparently. Doesn't say when they will be but it is almost certain to be announced this month.

May I ask where you got this information from?

It would make sense to announce them with the South American dates, just as it happened in March 2013.

Hola Miguel! Any hint as to why Paul is not coming back to Argentina?

Hola Miguel! Any hint as to why Paul is not coming back to Argentina?
I'm not Miguel, but I have read it's because of the economic crisis and the taxes he would have to pay. By the way, is it true that there is a new law limiting how much citizens from Argentina are allowed to spend in foreign countries and also when importing goods?

Yes. Actually we get charged 35% tax when we use our credit cards outside Argentina and we're allowed to exchange very little amount of currency before we travel. Importing of goods is pretty screwed up as well. For example we're not allowed to receive packages from Amazon or eBay anymore (we can buy 2 per year with a value below USD25)

I had heard that the concert in Uruguay would not happen after all, so I sent another message to the local promoter, who told me not to believe that. In fact, according to this news report, it is just hours away from being confirmed: http://radiounodigital.com.uy/home/paul-mc-cartney-de-nuevo-en-uruguay-a-horas-de-confirmarse/ And a concert promoter in Ecuador says that tickets for Paul's concert in Quito will be available as soon as there is a final decision between two possible stadiums: http://www.eltiempo.com.ec/noticias-cuenca/138654-paul-mccartney-traera-su-talento-a-quito/
