Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors

mike carrera:
Enjoy the concert(s) Carlos! Let's wait for the other Brazilian cities to be added. Obrigado
Thank you. If you decide to come, you will enjoy it very much.
-
So, if these are the last dates of 2014, Paul's Out There Tour will have begun and (most likely) ended in Brazil. Enjoy, Carlos!!

So, October 10, ticket sales start, and official announcement maybe tomorrow or Oct 8, right?
That's right. This will be one of the most expensive McCartney concerts in Brazil, due to the fact that there will be no student discount (50% off) for the 18,000 tickets on the field. That discount will only be available for the 20,000 tickets on the stands (the chairs around the field).
Just out of curiosity, Carlos, does Paul receive a remuneration of this government subsidy? I assume that he does.

Thanks, but maybe he will keep the Out There tour going next year with European dates?

You mean the discount? The government does not actually get any money from it. Promoters are forced by law to offer a certain percentage of tickets for students (and other groups, like teachers and senior citizens) at half price. Paul gets his full fee from the promoters, and it's up to them to find a way to compensate for the money they are losing due to selling thousands of tickets at discount prices. Their usual solution is to raise the price of regular tickets. Otherwise, they would not be able to pay for Paul's concert and at the same time comply with the legislation. By the way, as far as I'm aware the government has never spent any money on Paul's fees. That would have certainly made the news, and the bad publicity would have made Paul to stay away from ever returning here.

Thanks for clarifying, Carlos. I assumed the difference was being made up somehow.

Well, that sucks. Pista Prime tickets should be sold with student discount as well.
-
Yay, Brazil!

In Rio they were able to pay for Paul's fee. Same in Goiania.

It's a legal matter. The promoters are forced by law to offer a certain amount of tickets at discount prices, but it can be anywhere in the stadium. I guess this time they chose to put all those discounted tickets in the cheaper section. I'm surprised that it had never been done before, actually. Anyway, I believe other countries do not even offer 50% off at all to students for tickets at Paul's concerts, so we can't really complain.

I'd love to go to all of them, but I don't have a lot of vacation days at work so I need to know the cities and dates asap!

Your best option is São Paulo, due to cheaper plane tickets and two concerts on consecutive nights. It's the one closest to Buenos Aires.

It's a great plus that we have direct flights from Buenos Aires. The rumor is still Nov 25 & 26?

The only date mentioned so far is november 26. Several reports have stated that there will be two concerts, so I'm assuming that once it sells out, another one will be announced for the following night.
-
The press conference announcing the November 10 concert will be held next Tuesday: Tickets will be sold afterwards. That means the Brazilian tour is just a few days away from the official announcement.
-
I have a pretty solid information that the 2 concerts in São Paulo will happen on November 25th and 26th.
