Different Opening Song for U.S. This Summer?? Hope So??
-
Given that Paul just played MMT in Peru (instead of Eight Days A Week as per Uruguay show a few days ago) perhaps there's a chance we'll get a surprise new opener for the U.S. tour. I sure hope so. I Wanna Hold Your Hand would bring the house down as an opener if he ever did it. Also, hope he puts Jet back in the set. "Save Us" IMO is a very weak tune - studio recording has no punch or grit whatsoever, just sounds flat and uninspired - not even in same ballpark as Only Mama Knows, Figure Of Eight or countless other great Paul rockers....

While I don't agree that Save Us is weak, I'd love to hear I Want To Hold Your Hand live. Think about it. I don't think he's done that live anywhere, even in a soundcheck, since the Beatles 1964 World Tour 50 years ago! I read that the next Archive releases may be in June, which are Venus and Mars and Speed of Sound. Seeing he's playing mainly arenas this summer, maybe he'll open with Venus and Mars/Rockshow again.

If he plays Venus and Mars/Rock Show as the opening song again, he needs to play the *whole* thing. Not the truncated version he played a few years ago.

I agree..."I Want To Hold Your Hand" is a perfect way to acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the Beatles arrival in America!

Totally agree! And he needs to be a bit more dramatic. Start it in the dark. Red lights green lights.
I got chills when I heard that he opened with that.

Would love to see McCartney open with "That Was Me", see link below from 2007 in Paris.

Never seeing Paul perform this, I'd love the "whole thing" as well.

The difference in these two clips is stunning. 1976 rocked harder, the opening was great with the lights/smoke and the crowd in 1976 actually knew the song and loved it !!

Sorry, thought I cut everything out. Cheers

Beginning of the show.

Hehe, my video. 'Venus And Mars/Rock Show' as FOURTH song (!). Opener 'Hello, Goodbye' (same opener as 9 years earlier in The Netherlands, lol). Still annoyed how overexposed and out of focus this video turned out.
-
sorry...I just pulled it off youtube.

Why excuse? No problem! That's why I film and upload, to share it, haha! I liked seeing 'my' video pop up.
