Phil Collins: An appreciation
-
Don't know if there's already a thread on PC, but anyway I'm sure his music divides opinions but Phil Collins is an artist I got into at a young age after my parents bought his 'But Seriously' album for our then new CD player. His music spoke volumes to me, got into Genesis later on, but as a solo artist so many great songs like Against all Odds., Easy Lover, Another Day in Paradise and the classic In the Air Tonight with that famous drum roll. Fast forward to 2005 and was luck enough to see him live in Glasgow (a long way to travel from Kent but sure worth it) Now he's announced his retirement from the music industry due to illness, so thanks for the music Phil, your contribution to music will stand the test of time.

I like Phil Collins and Genesis. I saw Genesis two or three times in the 80s and 90s. I had third row for Phil Collins one time. Good times. Great drummer. Awesome sound when he played with Chester Thompson during live shows. Solo Phil was very pop and I don't play him as much as I do Genesis. Supper Ready. It was fantastic live.

I like his music, both solo and with Genesis. Very talented guy.

This afternoon, en route to New York, I was contemplating a situation. Oddly, this song kept running through my head. On the way home this evening, much to my surprise, I was given the opportunity to hear this song. I took this as a sign, turned up the volume, and let it all go......definitely appreciating Phil Collins today!

Saw Genesis on the farewell tour. Awesome drummer. Phil is one of those singers who can sing effortlessly.

I belong to a charity organization that do Plaques for famous people and he was the president for a year and came to some of the events, so i met him 2 or 3 times in that year. He was friendly but amazingly very shy, which i was surprised with being he was in one of the worlds biggest groups
