21st Century Paul:
Paulfan:
Hi Jen I'll reply to you. I'm sure you still remember my request about how the world was before the Beatles came along.
What a question!
Oliver I asked JEn that question because she once talked about how the world changed once the Beatles came along so I wondered what it was like before then. I wasn't around before they came around.

I rememeber the exact place I was at the street and the relief n and happy sensation the song was carrying along...at that time we use to listen Bobby Darin " Multiplication " from a Gina Lollobrigida film.... there was an Elvis film on the movie theatre on sunday evening ... there was parties in wich " The Ventures " albums were always playing... we coul hardly touch a girl´s hand!!! after chatting some hours my age ?... I,m 112 years old but I look as if I was only 110 shock

I'm 26. I was born the year Elvis died so... My father was a musician, he played years after in a band "casually" named The Brotes :-). He always told me that his first remembrance of the Beatles is hearing Twist And Shout and his town. Some people saying that was an horrible thing, and the other half turning the radio the louder the better.
I haven't known that day. But I think, that the Beatles changed..., let's say influencied, affected... the world in a way that only Jesus and Hitler have got such impact in the world before. I think that without the "things" that the Beatles brought to the world, this would have been a different place... The day the Beatles had their first #1 in America was the day JFK was murdered. Beatles were like a bomb in America... when all was boring an controlled (dunno what time this remind to me...
they "throw it all away". In every way. Musically, sexually, freedoms... I've got the crazy but possible theory that without the Beatles may could have been a Third World War. They made the cold war... not so colder. As I've read The Beatles impact in the world (not in the music but in the world itself) it's almost unmeasurable, they changed the history, that's it. The 2nd band I love the most is Queen, but they haven't any effect of this kind by far, despite being "almost as talented at them", almost :-). "The Beatles" were "more than a band" and more than John, Paul, George And Ringo. It was a thing for itself. "The dream" as John said. They make the world believe in somethings. To think for himselves, to sing the chorus, to talk about whatever in the songs... To do just want you want to do, and giving the message of love. Maybe after two or three centuries they will be taken as a "Mesianic" thing. In XXIII century they will look back and read about a "legend" of four guys that made people change. A generation grew up with them. But not only that. "Every generation (as George Martin says)" takes them AGAIN and grows up with them. And again and again. As I read somewhere... maybe one day I'll have a child and he will ask to me... "Daddy, do you know who where The Beatles?"

Hi Cesar! That was my question, lol! Do you mean that Sam was expanding his awareness too, as they say?
I'd love to know what he has to say about that one, lol! Btw....where IS Sam? Haven't seen him in around in some time now! Hope all is well and that he's busy writing! I'd love to see him drop by again soon, though! Love and hugs to all!

I'll reply to your post, Jen! How have ya been?
Hi Ed! It's been ages! I'm hanging in there. My hours got cut in half (after all, it's only a library!) but the new principal of the school is one of my favorite people, was my sons' kindergarten teacher and is a Paul/Beatles fan. He also plays the bagpipes and on Passport Day (an annual mulitcultural event we do at school in the Spring) he plays a song or two. I've suggested Mull of Kintyre for this year and I think he'll do it. I'll cry, of course. How are you? I'll PM you later. Jennifer

Hi Giri, Sorry to be so rude as not to answer your question. I do think about it a lot though, because there's so much to say. Did you see Paul's Red Square special? To me, that summed up so much of it. I could tell you about how music changed and clothing changed and hair length changed but it was more than all that. I was brought up in the 50's (and moved to the states in 57) when Americans were afraid of the Russians and we had bomb drills at school where we would get under the desks in case an atomic bomb was dropped...as though that would help. People were uptight and nervous about anyone who was different. Along came the Beatles, who managed to show us all not to take ourselves so seriously and things changed drastically. To this day, if I'm feeling bad, I put on a Beatles album---or some solos---and I feel better. Beatle music breaks barriers, tears down walls, relaxes the mind so we can all float downstream... I hope that answers some of your question. And I totally agree with Oliver's war theory. It's not so far out (the way out is in, after all). Hugs, Jennifer

Hi Everyone. Sorry I've been AWOl but I've had a heavy cold and scratchy throat so have been taking plenty of honey and Lemon juice. I'm nearly better and I'm three pages behind but I'll catch up next week. We won the voting again. New one starts today. Love and hugs. Sam.

Hi, Sam recover. Take care, I never like colds... About The Beatles... sometime Paul was asked about racism. He said that how could he be racist if Little Richard and Chuck Berry were two of his idols. Rock'n'roll and music, makes the old thing "universal language", you can learn things from people of a different race or culture.

Hi Sam! So happy to see you back, we were getting worried about you! Sorry to hear about the cold, take plenty of liquid's, as I know you know you should, and you'll be better in no time! Honey and lemon are delightful, aren't they? Yep, we've been waiting for you to get back, lol...we've had alot to discuss while you were away! Love and hugs,
Merry
