Good afternoon everyone
We are digging out of a snowstorm here in New York City. Hope you are enjoying better waether! Hi Sam, If Paul visited you, I know he would leave all those people at home
Then you could invite Giri and me
Love and hugs, ~Tashi

Sam, Yes i would be neat to have Paul sit with us. I don't know where his bodyguards and pr men could sit maybe near us. Me,you and Tashi could have a good converstaion with him and hopefullyu it won't be in the papers. What was John singing about in Working Class Hero by the way?
-
Hi Giri John was saying that working class people are heroes. And that the establishment, the authorities and the unenlightened teachers, and some parents of that era (the 50's after World War 2) gave young people a hard time at school and whilst they were growing up. Just listen to the words and you'll see what he means. Teachers and parents today are much more enlightened than in those dark days after two World Wars in quick succession. Hope this explains it.....at least in part. This is a good topic. Can someone put the words on here for us?? (leave out the full swear words though). Cheers Sam.

Working Class Hero- by John Lennon As soon as you're born they make you feel small By giving you no time instead of it all Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be They hurt you at home and they hit you at school They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool Till you're so ------- crazy you can't follow their rules A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years Then they expect you to pick a career When you can't really function you're so full of fear A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV And you think you're so clever and classless and free But you're still ------- peasants as far as I can see A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be There's room at the top they are telling you still But first you must learn how to smile as you kill If you want to be like the folks on the hill A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be If you want to be a hero well just follow me If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Hey Everyone, i probably wont be on this thread much tonight i'm still not feeling well from my cold i've had it since Christmas, so i am going to bed early tonight, see you all tomorrow.
-
Thank you Tashi John certainly hit the nail on the head with this one. It's not quite that bad today but only because some REAL working class heroes fought the `Status Quo' here in England...and in America. Many of those heroes fought against the bosses for better pay and conditions for the ordinary working man. And some of them were branded as `commies' whcich wasn't true. What a World !! Sorry to be a little political but the way the `Robber Barons' treated workers rankles with me. Cheers. Sam.

I have a question for anyone who knows in the song Across the Universe John says something like Ja Guru Dev Om, may have spelled that wrong, does anyone know what it means?

Sam, I am sure we can find a place for all of them. At any rate, I would not want him to sit down anywhere he felt uncomfortable or in a place that was not secure. Cheers, Sam C.

It is a mantra, Starr. Now, I do not know whether that was one that Maharashi gave him or what. JP has his and I don't think he even shared it with Linda....if memory serves me correctly...of course I have been wrong on more than one occasion... Best, Sam C.

It is a mantra, Starr. Now, I do not know whether that was one that Maharashi gave him or what. ...... or maybe John was passing by and heard The Guru saying to Mia Farrow " jai guru dev on " ...that meant - " I want to sleep on your bed tonite " lol

Hi Sam, I have Working Class Hero downloaded from napster. In what way did the parents, teachers and authorities give kids a hard time in the 50s? Forgive my ignorance but I wasn't around then. In the song it sounds like he is talking about his parents abandoning him and his teacehrs punishing him and how they hated him for being so witty and how they hate people who aren't good at school work. It also sounds like he is talking about his life story growing up. It is good that people fought their bosses for better pay and for fair treatment in the workplace. I wish I could be that brave as to stand up for myself.

Sam Leach:
Samcat: You are #3 my friend. Kathy: Glad you're back...and I didn't foreget to leave you out of the mass post for more than 30 seconds. Paulfan: Someday when I'm down your way we'll have a drink of Coffee or beer. Cheers back later today. Sam.
I knew you wouldn't do that.....
Well, not on purpose anyways.
By the way, have my check get there yet...it's been like 2 weeks, and I'm getting worried!!!!

Woah. Even now kids who don't do their homework well still get some not as trusting vibes....who? Me? Nah?
*Well, seriously, I'm actually a pretty good student.
* Me, witty? Now that's another one we are going to have to find out for ourseleves....;) It's a sad song to me.
And well, it reminds me of the Industrial Revolution back in Britian back in the day...*a looongg time ago*. I have found out something, my dad admited he used to be left handed, but then he always got hit for using it...so he doesn't anymore, he lost it, I guess.
Wonder how Paul got away with it? If anything, he would have been hurt too, wouldn't he?

Guitar Kat, I also used to get told to do my homework. I was a good student also. I don't know how Paul got away with being left handed. Maybe you could ask Sam.
