Hi Sam, I'm glad you liked me and Jen's posts. I'm also glad things have improved since the 50s. From what my dad told me Chuck Berry was paid less because he was black. Is this true? I agree that we still have some ways tog og as of yet. I also hope the world won't be as superficial as it is now one day. I do hope me and Jen's psots will help people be more open minded towars people who are different. Maccascruff, being a fan of Paul's or folliwng him doesn't make you a wacko just as long as you don't harm him. I would like to meet Paul myself and feel you are very lucky to have. I ave seen Jorie's book and read some stories but not sure if I've read yours. What is your name? I'll look for it next time I see the book.

Hi Giri (Paulfan). In the early days of Rock`n'Roll many Radio Station owners imposed a ban on black artistes which is why white artistes like Pat Boone were able to cover songs such as `Ain't That A Shame' and `Blueberry Hill' which were both written by the original king...Fats Domino. Fats though once held up his hand on TV with huge diamond rings on his fingers and chuckled. "Pat Boone bought me these". J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI chief, once called Rock'n'Roll "Jungle Music." He and most authorities and leading Church figures hated Rock music. Which is why we all LOVED it....and why it's survived. Cheers. Sam.

Thanks Denny C I'll look at it later tonight and if I reply to her I'll post it on here. Cheers. Sam.

Thanks Sam

Hi, Sam and everyone... I read your post re a ban imposed on artists and I happened to remember a movie film I saw 10 years ago about Jerry Lee Lewis life.. something alike succeded to him maybe because his wife was too young when he toured U.K. ... was she just 12 years old !!!???? and I `ll have to ask you if you were around at that incident ? ?
-
Cesar, The movie was called Great Balls OF Fire and Jerry Lee Lewis was played by Dennis Quiad and his wife Myra by Winona Ryder. She was about 12 like you said and it caused a scandal when Jerry Lee married her. Jimmy Swaggart condmened him and called his msuic stanic or something like that and later Jimmy was caught with a prositute and wound up crying on national television. What a hypocrite Swaggart was for saying what he did about his cousin and doing what he did.

Sam, It is pretty silly that white artists had to cover black artists music. As for PAt Boone I don't liek his music but my parents do. They weren't allowed to listen to rock music either because their parents thought it would make them go bad. My dad likes Rock Around the Clock though. They weren't allowed to listen to the Beatles either and my mom would only hear it at ehr friend's house and she liked I Want TO Hold Your Hand. This was in India. What did J.Edgar Hoover mean by jungle music? DId he mean it was too vulgar or was he using it as a racist term? You liked rock n'roll because parents didn't like it and churchegoers and authorties didn't like it? I think my main reason for liking it was because of its sound. I used to be an Elvis fan when I was a kid and loved Jailhouse Rock. I'm surprised people thought Elvis wiggling his hips was vulgar. I always liked it and didn't see anything wrong with it. Today'ss tuff is much worse which talks about murder and rape. What was it that people were rebelling against back then?

I'm glad ROck N'Roll has survived. As the song says ROck N'Rol is here to stay it will never die. IF you don't like Rock N'Roll think what you've been missing.

Hi Cesar (Cbimbi). Myra Gale, Jerry's wife, was a lovely friendly girl. She and Jerry Lee got slagged by the press here but up in Liverpool we were only interested in his music, not his private life. They both told me at the Tower show that Liverpool was the only friendly place they encountered in England. He's back in Blackpool some 60 miles from Liverpool and I'm going to try and get him to appear here. I'll keep you posted. I was talking with his sister Linda Gail Lewis last Sunday and she is brilliant too. A female Jerry Lee of course. Cheers. Sam.

Hi Paulfan. When I say we loved Rock because our elders hated it that is a figure of speech. Almost all teenagers rebel against their older generation when it comes to music. I suppose that's called the generation gap. But The Beatles bridged that gap which I've stated in my book. Nowadays older generations are a little more appreciative of young peoples music...mainly because of the Fabs. J. Edgar Hoover's remark was both racist and critical of the music. Cheers. Sam.

Hi Sam, J.Edgar Hoover I think turned out to be in trouble with th law if I'm correct. I know his buddy RIchard Nixon tried to ahve John kicked out of America and later he got in trouble because of Watergate and hate to resing from the presidency. You are right that younger people do rebel against their older generation's music. I'm sure there are some osngs I like which my parents don't like. I'm glad the Fabs bridged the generation gap. As for JErry Lee Lewis he played in my town about 6 or 7 years ago but I din't go to see him I don't know why. Tell him I say Great Balls Of FIre is a great song and so is Whole Lotta Skain Goin On and no one can play a piano like he can.

Hello and good afternoon everyone I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I hope everyone has had a good day so far. I was just reading some of the posts regarding rock and roll, teenage rebellion, racism and the music industry. They are very interesting and I have enjoyed reading them. Hi Sam, Hope all is well. I agree completely with your comment about Macca fans. I will never apologize for loving his music. Love and hugs, ~Tashi

Hi Tahsi, I'm glad you enjoy reading these posts. I aslo find these topics very interesitng which is why I posted about them. You should never apologize for liking Paul's music. IT is a blessing to listen ot him.The only thing we shoudl apologize for is not being around when the Beatles were together or not seeing them live.

-
Hi Sara how are you doing?
-
Hi Paulfan i am good, just kinda stumped on what to say now!! How are you doing? I think i'm speechless lol.
-
Hi Sara (Starr). You don't know what to say ?? Just join in the debates. Hi Tashi. Glad you like what we're writing. Macca fans rule...okay. Hi Paulfan At one time Hoover WAS the law...until people cottoned on to him, Nixon and others like them who corrupted American politics. Love and hugs. Sam.
-
I'm doing fine Sara. I'm gettin ready to go out soon. Sam yeah I know about Hoover being the law. Nixon was definitely a no good and lied to the country. I'm glad he hasn't been made into a martyr since his death. My dad's friend said once Nixon was mean and a phoney. He is Goerge's age and came to America to study architecture in the early 1970s. He told me he had a roomate who was old faishoned and conservative who was only interested in going to church and thought what his mom thought and no interest in teh world, and that early in the mornin he used to use an electric shaver and wake him up. he didn't like him at all. He had another roomate who was a hippie and played ME and Bobby Mcghee by Janis Joplin who he got along with very well because he was open minded. He also likes the Beatles too an I went to see A Hard Day's Nigth with him when it was rereleased.
