I seem to remember that episode with Davy and boxing gloves too, and in their movie Head he did a boxing scene!!

Hi Christina (Harleyblues). Thanks for voting.....much appreciated as is all your support. Oliver Lennon may have double tracked that part and Paul did some also. So maybe it's a bit of each. I'll listen to it again tomorrow. Hi Starr, Paulfan, Samcat. I'm off to bed now. I haven't posted much as I've been mad busy. Goodnight all. Sam.

Hi Sam see you tomorrow, hope you don't mind all the Monkees talk here!!

Hi Harleyblues Cheers! Mike

In terms of the question about Day in the Life According to the book the song is closer to an equal Lennon/Macca song than one night think. They attribute it as 60% Lennon, 40% McCartney. The book doesn't really elaborate much on who is making the noises and singing -- in terms of concept and writing, Macca's contribution is The middle verse as you all know the part with -- woke up, fell out of bed. He also came up with th Lennon sung line, "I Love to turn you on". It was his idea along with John to do the crescendo -- end of the world sound. It was apparentlly all Macca of the idea for the musicians to play thier instruments in a weird way and out of tune to create a feel of chaos in the song.

Hi Mike i always believed the majority of the ahhh's part was John since it came off the part he was singing, not to say Paul's voice isnt there but you hear more of John's i think, and maybe a bit of George's even, it's a great song!! It shouldn't matter who does the ahh's part!!

Mike you going out to Liddy pool are ya.....agai n...humm a thought just a thought again

Thanks Samuel. I saw phtos of him in boxing gloves os I thought it must have been an episode from the Monkees. DId he win in the spisode or lose? How about in the movie Head Sara? Davey being 5'2? He is only an inch taller than my mom. He must say 5'3 because he doesn't want anybody to know his real height. Who did Davey box against in the episode and in the movie Head?
-
Hi Sam, have a good night's rest. See you in the morning. Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite

Starr:
Hi Samuel good to see ya!! hehe i know i agree with you when you said about Davy and Paul boxing how neither would want to get messed up plus they both don't seem like the type who would fight you know? They seem more like ones who would walk away. When i saw the Monkees in concert back in 2001 Davy did sing on the song Then and Now on stage!! He'll do anything to get more stage time!! As far as i know Davy and Micky have been the closest out of the years, but still they dont see each other off stage much. Davy's busy raising and breeding his horses down in Florida where he lives most of the year, and between his solo tours and spending time at his other home in Pennsylvania, he's busy, Micky is busy with his directing career/broadway so they probably don't have time to hang out much. Most of the problems was with Davy and Peter Tork that last tour. I hope one day they can all put aside their differences and do one more tour as the 4 of them. Hey Paulfan, i have stood next to Davy Jones and he is about 5'2. He says in boots he's 5'3 i'm 5'3 and i was taller than him when i stood next to him!! He'll always be my first crush out of anyone.
Starr, At the first concert of the (which if memory serves me correctly was 2001, which was the 35th anniversary tour where Natural was the opening act)tour, Davy did not sing it with them. There were interviews about it and he said that he felt at that time, it was a bad idea and that they did not get a very good deal, and he made a point during that interview that he does not go out on stage to do That Was Then, This Is Now...Each of them had their solo bits during the show, and Davy did his Oliver tunes. It is not likely that the four of them will get together again being the way Mike Nesmith bolted on them after the tour in England which was promoting their first studio album in decades, Justus. Best, Sam C.

Paulfan, I really can't recall. All of their episodes were generally highlighted with a new tune, and to be honest, I am lucky to remember any particular episode, which is funny, because I only remember the music. The funny thing about the Monkees was that one of Nesmith's songs made someone really upset, because it was covered by another band (whose name escapes me) and they felt the Monkees were covering it, and how dare those four actors cover a great tune. Also, if memory serves me correct, Nesmith put his fist thru the wall when they tried to get the Monkees to record Sugar Sugar as one of their tunes. And the Monkees did meet the Beatles. Best, Sam C.

That is funny that people got mad over the Monkees covering their song Smuel. DIdn't they ask permission? I haven't seen that many Monkee episodes since I wasn't aroung in that time. I've only seen the reruns which I've seen very few of. Hello to you also Tashi.
