Hi Mike, Samcat, Christina, Starr, Paulfan, Tash, Linda, Cesar, Vinny, & anyone I've missed. I've been in and out reading all these interesting posts. I haven't been able to stay because I'm working like mad on my writing. I'll be back on posting probably late tomorrow but I'm still reading you all. Cheers everyone. Sam.
Just as long as you don't go mad, Sam. Cheers! Sam C.

Mike Nesmith is a great songwriter, the Monkees don't seem to get enough credit, they truly became a band i believe! Mike Nesmith said the best thing about the Monkees not long ago he said, "The Monkees are just one of those things that happens and no one really understands why, i mean i sure don't." And Davy has said, "There must've been something to it." Peter Tork, "It's not like we weren't anything, we weren't nothing, we were something but we weren't nothing"
Yes, and which famous actor produced the movie Head?

Yes Sam! we are to erect a statue in his honor lol
-
Hi Samuel that's an easy one!! Jack Nicholson!!! Next question!!
-
Hi Chimbi oh yes the Monkees can play live, they can do everything the Beatles can do!! Write their own music, play their own instruments, sing!! etc... And they do a great show live!!
-
Hi Harleyblues Yeah toying with going back to the UK and a little bit of Europe -- am doing a lot of extra work, making more money but spending less time with my wife because of it -- so I promised her that if I go over a certain income threshold -- that I'll make up for all that over time -- with a possible UK/Europe trip. Too bad Macca isn't touring yet. Cheers! Mike

Hi Sam, Have you found anyone to play Paul yet for your screenplay? FI so let me know ho it is. I hope the movie will coem to America so I can go see it in teh theatres.
Yeah, that would be SWEET if it came to america..... I hate sitting in theater's, but hey, this would be well worth the trip....I can FEEL it!
I agree that it would be neat if it would come to America. We will get to see the true story of the early years of the Beatles without any myth or lies.

Thanks Samuel. I saw phtos of him in boxing gloves os I thought it must have been an episode from the Monkees. DId he win in the spisode or lose? How about in the movie Head Sara? Davey being 5'2? He is only an inch taller than my mom. He must say 5'3 because he doesn't want anybody to know his real height. Who did Davey box against in the episode and in the movie Head?
Paulfan, I really can't recall. All of their episodes were generally highlighted with a new tune, and to be honest, I am lucky to remember any particular episode, which is funny, because I only remember the music. The funny thing about the Monkees was that one of Nesmith's songs made someone really upset, because it was covered by another band (whose name escapes me) and they felt the Monkees were covering it, and how dare those four actors cover a great tune. Also, if memory serves me correct, Nesmith put his fist thru the wall when they tried to get the Monkees to record Sugar Sugar as one of their tunes. And the Monkees did meet the Beatles. Best, Sam C.
That is funny that people got mad over the Monkees covering their song Smuel. DIdn't they ask permission? I haven't seen that many Monkee episodes since I wasn't aroung in that time. I've only seen the reruns which I've seen very few of. Hello to you also Tashi.
Actually the song was written by Michael Nesmith. That was the funny part, the Monkees were actually doing their own material....and people were upset and mistakenly thought it was another band they were covering and they were not....
I'm glad the Monkees did their own material. It is kind of funny how people have accused them of starting the boy band thing.

Hi Paulfan has Jorie mentioned anything recently about Macca touring this year? Cheers! Mike
-
you guys have inspired me -- just purchased the Monkees Greatest Hits CD via amazon. Don't know if you ever mess with Amazon but its a great place to get good deals on cds -- often you can find good quality cds or even new ones from other sellers at bargain basement prices.
-
Hi Mike, i'm glad we have inspired you. Jorie hasn't mentioned anything about Macca touring this year as far as I know. I'll let you know if i hear anything though. brian Ray is supposed to chat over at her website soon as is Rusty Anderson sometime in the near future. I'll let you know more about it.

Hi Samuel that's an easy one!! Jack Nicholson!!! Next question!!
Very good, Starr. Now tell me which song was the only top forty hit for one of the Monkees.....
-
Starr:
Hi Chimbi oh yes the Monkees can play live, they can do everything the Beatles can do!! Write their own music, play their own instruments, sing!! etc... And they do a great show live!!
And they were quite respectful of Jimi Hendrix who toured with them in the 60s. Apparently they had a good eye for great talent. I love the bit that Dolenz does for Hendrix at the concert tour of 2001...

Hey, Mike... Yeah those Rhino CDs are pretty inexpensive. Glad the discussion had you rediscover the Monkees.... Best, Sam C.

Folks, Sam is only up by one vote. Let us get out the vote and push Sam further ahead. Vote often and legally! www.samleach.com Best, Sam C.

Hi Sara (Starr). Whilst I enjoyed the fun of watching The Monkees I have to take exception to you saying thay can do anything The Beatles do. To quote John McEnroe..."You cannot be serious". Heh, heh, we're the Monkees. Love and hugs. Sam.
-
A quick `mass post'. Samcat Thanks for the votes...it's a tight race this time. Mike Nice to see you back again. Cesar Friends, Romans and Beatlefans. Let's praise Seaman...not bury him. BTW have the books arrived yet ?? Vinny has got his in Australia and they went the same day. Paulfan I'll let you all know when Paul is going to tour. Vinny I'm glad the book arrived. The posters will go out when I receive the tubes which should be any day. In1964Johnlennon was..HOT. Thanks for the interest and nice comments re my proposed film. I'll let you all know when it's nearly ready...April or so. Now I'll sit back and wait for the bullets to fly over my head from the Monkees fans. Heh, heh....I'm waiting !! Cheers all. Sam.

The Monkees were nothing compared to the Beatles in the 60's. I saw the Monkees in concert in probably 1966 and it was nothing like watching or listening to the Beatles. So I guess I am with Sam waiting for the Monkees fans to come after me.

Hi Linda (Maccascruff). Well that makes it 2-0 to us. I feel much safer now I've got you covering my back. But they'll be a'coming for us so we'd best form our laptops into a circle. Love and hugs. Sam.
