Hi Sam, I can't beilieve they didn't mention George winning a grammy either. I'm glad you told them off. Sara as for writing to the recording industry or the grammy awards,I hate writing letters. My handwriting isn't that great. i like writing e-mail. It is so much easier. I hope that maybe all of those who dow rite them will help them chage their ways and hono talent not popularity.

Hello everyone. Can you believe this. The media over here has hardly mentioned George winning a Grammy...not even the Liverpool Echo. I rang their News Desk today and told them off and they said they'll put a piece in tomorrow. It's probably because CNN hardly mentioned George and the rest have just taken the bare details. BYW I saw The Last Samurai last night and it was brilliant !! Someone on here had asked me to let them know. There's too many back pages for me to find who that was just now....and I'm tired. Goodnight everyone. Sam.
Hi Sam, That's excellent of you for contacting the News Desk in regards to George! You must've been boiling over it. Last night I couldn't sleep much (just 3 hours sleep) I was posting here and there about the Grammys and the music industry in general! I just want people to realise the truth about it all. I have created a list of websites in "The Future of Music" thread - Talk More Talk forum for independent bands wanting to post their music ~ sites such as CD Baby and other sites with a wealth of information to help unsigned artist achieve success! dB

Hi everyone. Is was nice that George won an award. In my opinion `Brainwashed' should have won best album. But....why do you all get upset ?? The `Grammys' are controlled by the money men who want to dish out awards to the artistes who are currently setting today's trends, such as `Timberhead', Britney Asperagus-spears and all that hoopla stuff. Everyone who knows anything about real musical talent and durability knows The Beatles are the YARDSTICK they all have to measure up to !! Including the Grammy-Masters and the moneymen. So just let it wash over you. The Beatles are forever !! Love, cheers and hugs on Beatle Day !! Sam.
Sam, Now wait a moment...I always thought it was Elvis that everyone was to be measured up to...;) I saw that George Best was busted recently for DUI.....What a shame.... Cheers! Sam C

Hi Sam, I guess the media did not think highly of that grammy that George won, now had he won for best album....they would have been all over it... Although I enjoyed the album Brainwashed, I did not think it was that fantastic, and I really did love Luther Vandross's tunes though.. Cheers! Sam C.

Hello Sam !!! It t'was Moi who asked how the movie is! Nice to hear that its good. Was it what you expected, better or worse? I have been wanting to see it for a long time. Thanks for remembering! David Letterman just had a special about the Beatles. Nice to see them getting some attention from the Ed Sullivan Theater!

Hello all! Our favourite Sam is up by only 11 votes! Please vote often and legally! Cheers! Sam C.

And my vote made Sam up by 12, so go vote. Did anyone see David Letterman? I can't stay up that long! roll

Hi Sam, It truly is disgraceful that George's Grammy win was not better publicized. I didn't even know he had won until I read it here on the board. Thank you for informing the Echo of the news. I agree 100% with your comments about the Grammys. To me, they have ceased to be relevant. The music industry now reminds me of a high school clique, where only the most popular are rewarded, whether they are deserving or not. Hello and good morning to everyone! Love and hugs, ~Tashi

Hello Everyone!! David Letterman did a very nice tribute to the Beatles last night on his show as you know he tapes it in the Ed Sullivan theater, he talked about the anniversary quite a bit during his show, at the end he showed a clip of the Beatles doing I Want To Hold Your Hand from 1964, after the clip was over they showed Dave and you could tell that it kinda hit him wow i share the same stage the Beatles once performed on, his comments to their performance was, "Wow that was incredible," The audience there clapped along after the tribute. Thank you to Dave for remembering them that night and doing something so nice, he saved the best for last. Tho i had a laugh watching Entertainment Tonight last night, one of the reporters for the show called the Beatles tribute "Amazing" I was thinking geez what planet is she on??
-
~Hello everybody!!~ have a nice day!~
-
p.s. i forgot to add the reporter was talking about the Beatles tribute at the Grammys...
-
Hi, Sam I agree 100 % of your opinion regarding Grammies Well, sometimes I think it´s better for The Beatles not to be mixed with all these pseudo musicians, hip hoppers, rappers and the hell... These american enterpreiners are doing real shit 0 x is the truth

Hi Everyone. I've been playing golf all morning and then writing all day... and I'm quite shattered (scouseism for tired) so I'm off to bed. Read all your posts though and I'll be back tomorrow. Goodnight all. Cheers. Sam.

Hello Sam see you tomorrow!! Anyone around tonight??

Hey Starr....I am still around!! Check this out everyone...I found an article written by some reporters who were as unimpressed with the Grammy's and the *Tribute* as we were... http://entertainment.msn.com/news/article.aspx?news=149304 "In a year when the Grammys finally caught up with the hip-hop revolution, the awards show itself had some trouble negotiating a settlement between the new and the old. Most egregious were lame stabs at celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' arrival in America. Sting, Dave Matthews and Vince Gill did "I Saw Her Standing There" no favors with their barely competent, emotionally flat version. And God bless Yoko Ono, but her acceptance speech for the Beatles' President's Award implied that the band almost single-handedly invented music as a public fact. Tell it to Presley, Sinatra or Armstrong. Still, it was an evening when the staid and clueless -- too often the Grammys' past stock in trade -- were trumped by the young and exciting. OutKast's win for Album of the Year for "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" was a resounding endorsement of invention, individualism and artful double-CD sprawl. A signal that one of the Beatles' core values, fun, is starting to mean more to the 21st Century Recording Academy, it was the night's truest tribute to the spirit of "I Saw Her Standing There." (Unless you want to argue in favor of Paul McCartney's brisk send-up of "Yesterday.")" Ok all, this is only part of the article...If ya want to read the rest, just click on the link!! jen

Agree with Sam & Sam C These award shows are really for artists that are new and hot for the moment -- also they have certain established acts that they love to nominate alas U2 & Sting regardless if it's their best work -- if it's a hot artist or an artist from the 80s who's now switched to adult contemporary they are seemingly automatically nominated. It's a bit of a joke now. I don't get riled up by it -- the grammys just are what they are. As Sam pointed out the Beatles are more enduring then any group in histroy -- they will live on forever. Timberklake and crew will be forgotten probably within this decade. Time marches on but the Beatles keep going. Even among the other big groups alas Rolling Stones -- can you imagine the media doing a special tribute for the day they arrived in America -- that idea is a joke really for any other band but the Beatles. No one even remotely touches them. Heck, Macca is coming back on tour -- lots to be excited about in Beatleland. Cheers! Mike
