The Grammy 'tribute' to the mighty Beatles was truly a half-arsed disgrace..... it was worse than I feared, especially that bloodless, lifeless and non- rocking version of I Saw Her Standing There. Sheesh... wasn't that just awful... However, Sam is right. Thanks for your best wishes and good advice on this special Beatle day. Don't let it get you down...nothing to get hung about....take a sad song and make it better... play some Beatle music today.... yeah yeah yeah... Best wishes to everyone!!!

They could care less about putting their heart and soul in it. Most musicians (and I hate to call them musicians) don't care about their own trade anymore. It's all about putting as little creative effort as possible into an album but marketing it enough to sell millions of copies. Heart and soul? People don,t even write with that anymore! Actually, most artists don,t even write their own music anymore! And society laps it up anyways! Everyone's too bloody preoccupied with what the artists are wearing to even care about how good the song is and what its creative purpose is.

Although the Beatles' tribute with Sting, Vince Gill, Dave Matthews and Pharrel Williams didnt go as well as i had hoped, at ALL... i must give it to Pharrel, he played the drums well. Not as well as Ringo, however, but he did a good job. I was highly surprised to see a rapper on the drums for a Beatles tribute. I still havent watched the whole thing but i will get to that tonight. I was completely disappointed, like all of you, at the effort those gentlemen put into singing "I Saw Her Standing There". They didnt even get the lyrics right, let alone the tune of their voice. 'F' for effort boys.
-
On a better note ( i might catch crap for this), i thought Christina did a nice job on her preformance. She was dressed very nicely and she has got a beautiful vioce. I'm glad she focused more on the voice and music rather than being a hoe.

Sara, I know how you feel. Justin winning over George is just pathetic! There sis something wrong with the grammies. I'm glad to ahve seen Paul and Ringo though. IT is too bad that the tribute didn't go well. I wish there was a fan award we could give to them. Dmmedic which person were you talking about when you were telling me the Beatles were teh frist band to speak up about segragation?
Well, actually many feel that Justin is in, and George's time has passed. Of course, that does not alter the fact that George was far more talented than Justin is and may ever be. Tearing off something from a woman in a performance does not impress me as talent of any kind. I think Justin has been out of sync for some time now. Which is why I stopped watching the Grammys a long time ago, it is just another award show..... The fan award we give them is listening to their music decades after it was still released. Not to mention that there is another generation listening to their music now.... Don't let it bother you.... Best, Sam C.
Samuel You are right I shouldn't get upset. I'm disappointed more than upset. I see where people think Justin is in and George is out. Even Sting and Warren Zevon lost to Justin. I'd rather Sting and Warren beat George out than Mr.Timberhead as Sam said. It is sad that looks win awards for artists rather than true talent. Most award shows sukc including the oscars. I remember how I used to hate Michale Jackson winning awars in the 80s and Paul not winning any. I guess listening to their music could be considred the fan ward as you say. i've been listening to Penny Lane on the Anthology 2 cd. It is much better than watching the grammies. No point in getting bent out of shape about George not winning.
-
Sam, IT is sad to see the awars go to people who set trends rather than people who have talent. I would rather Sting win over Goerge then Justin but then again the grammies are so meesed up I think they don't realize it or care. I like the name you gave Justin,Timberhead and Britney Aesperegus Spears who I think not only doesn't have talent but is an airhead. Like you said I'll let it wash over me and not worry about it. The grammy awards don't know what they are missing out on.
-
Somethings never change............The Grammies never gave the accolades The Beatles deserved, and that isn't about to change after all these years : ...........as far as Justin goes, he was the LEAST talented in the pop singer category he won.............the other nominies ALL have it over him........ That pathetic tribute was ill-conceived..........they should have screened a montage of The Fabs arrival and singing appearance, why have ANYONE even try to cover them......it was obvious Sting, Dave Mathews and Vince Gill hadn't really rehearsed the song, wonder if they are embarrassed by their performance, they should be! Finally.........so nice to see Olivia and Yoko speak on George and John's behalf, Ringo was in great form, and Paul was a nice surpirse...(he looked tired, probably from sleepless nights with Bea? )
-
see my posty about the Beatles tribute ..In broadcast forum!!! Sam did yu get my message & somebody was saying hello hello to somebdoy In Liverpool England ...was that too you Sam>>>>>>>>>>>>~~ hugs
-
Hello everyone. Can you believe this. The media over here has hardly mentioned George winning a Grammy...not even the Liverpool Echo. I rang their News Desk today and told them off and they said they'll put a piece in tomorrow. It's probably because CNN hardly mentioned George and the rest have just taken the bare details. BYW I saw The Last Samurai last night and it was brilliant !! Someone on here had asked me to let them know. There's too many back pages for me to find who that was just now....and I'm tired. Goodnight everyone. Sam.
-
Hey Everyone Just a reminder to watch David Letterman tonight he'll be showing the origional Beatles broadcast from this night in 1964, and who knows what else he could have planned i know it will be loads better than the one last night. Hi Sam wow that is disappointing that even his home town isn't even acknowledging he won a Grammy, good for you for telling them off! lol!! I would've loved to see that!!

Hello Sara how are you tonight? Kathy, I agree with you that the Beatles will love on forever with people like you and me. On the news this evening they had a story about the woman who helped get them popular and showed clips from the Ed Sullivan show. I will try to watch the grammies tomorrow. Rap is not even music because they don't sing or play any instruments. They talk to a beat. I can't believe people like it but I guess everyone is different. One rap music fan in high school made fun of me and said that ******'s favorite group is the Beatles. He is black and he called me that? That is pretty funny! This is the same guy who used to swear in class and say he did it because Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor make money that way. He wound up quitting school and working in a car wash. IT is funny that rap fans make fun of Beatle fans and think theyir sutff is the cool stuff. There are more Beatle fans than rap fans as you say and rap wouldn't even be around had the Bealtes not been an influence.
Wholy crap, Giri, you type LOTS! Hi Giri, Your going to try to watch it. PLEASE watch it so we can make fun of it together. It is interesting like on CNN too, they are doing something at 6/7 central time tonight I think. I don't know, but they had something yesterday that was called something like: It was just "Yesterday" and they showed people in D.C with something and it was really interesting because 2 women sang part of Yesterday. Some people are just...uh, different. (I'm thinking that's my word for stupid. :lol I'm guessing that they don't really like to go see other older stuff other than things beyond the year 1999. Yes, I think that too about the Beatles not around there wouldn't be rap. Sometimes I think they have created a monster, but then again, I'll just pop one of their albums in and forget about it. All I can say to that coloured guy is...What comes around, goes around. And oh, yes, trouble does come in three.
Kathy, Yes I do type alot. It is a habit of mine,I hope you don't mind. If you do let me know and I'll try to type less. i usually write long e-mails to myfriend while my brother writes very short ones. I saw where two women sang part of Yesterday. On CNN tonight I saw the clip from the Beatles Ed Sullivan performance singing All My Lvoing. Rap is a monster and not even real music in my opinion and won't be as popular as the Beatles forty years from now. As for the other colored guy yes what goes around coems around. I have no idea where he is now. I saw the grammy awards but missed the tribute. I can't beleive Justin Timberlake beat George for male pop vocal performance. What is with the grammies? Even Christina Aguillera won. Something is not right here. I saw the president's awards and saw Olivia,Yoko,Paul and Ringo. Iwas at least happy to see Paul and Ringo except they didn't have enough tributes to them. Teh bgeatles rule no matter what people say! I think people have been brainwashed into thinking the Beatles don't matter and rap is cool and teen pop is good music.
It's okay... I like to know somebody cares enough to type more than two words to me. I saw All My Lovin' too. Damn, I LOVE that song. Mmmmm...Paul and his singing-bass goodness. Oh, and the suit. Love the suit. Good thing you missed the tribute, it really sucked! REALLY! But, seeing Paul and Ringo made me feel just excellent. Oh, HE WORE BLUE!!! Yay!!! *Sorry, I'm just a little giddy!* Goooo guitar!!! Yea, that's probably it, about the "Beatles don't matter and rap is cool and teen pop is good music". Some people these days...sheesh! Have a good day!

Sam Leach:
Hi everyone. Is was nice that George won an award. In my opinion `Brainwashed' should have won best album. But....why do you all get upset ?? The `Grammys' are controlled by the money men who want to dish out awards to the artistes who are currently setting today's trends, such as `Timberhead', Britney Asperagus-spears and all that hoopla stuff. Everyone who knows anything about real musical talent and durability knows The Beatles are the YARDSTICK they all have to measure up to !! Including the Grammy-Masters and the moneymen. So just let it wash over you. The Beatles are forever !! Love, cheers and hugs on Beatle Day !! Sam.
Thanks for the Happy Beatle Day!!!! Stupid moneymen....but remember, even the Beatles have won some Grammies....like 2. But then again, Paul won like 1 or 2 himself.....and then there's the trend people that got 3 or whatever else.... Blah! At least George GOT an award and that we got to see Paul and Ringo and stuff. Your right. Why get upset?

Hi kathy, Thank you. I'm glad to write more than two lines. I also like All My Loving too. I don't like the suits though. My best friend saw the tribute and thought it was pretty good but I was disappointed by Justin winning. I'm glad to have seen paul and Ringo though. All the people who think rap and teen pop are cool and the Beatles suck are mixed up. They don't know what they're missing out on. Be sure to watch Letterman tonight because he'll have their performance fromt he Ed Sullivan show on there.
