By the way Sam I frogot to tell you on the cover of Mojo magazine I saw a picture of LEd Zeppelin and they looked so old. Especially Jimmy Page. They look every bit their age and I was thinking at least Paul looks great. I thought to myself Paul looks great for his age,and keeps on going and doesn't seeme messed up liek other rock stars do. Hooray for Paul!

Hi Giri (Paulfan). That's because Liverpool Rockers never seem to age... it must be the special air, heh , heh. Or the gorgeous girls we have here. Cheers. Sam.

Hi Sarah F. Just thought you'd like to know that the clock on this site is an hour slow. For example it is now 8.11am GMT in the UK. I'm off to golf now. Love and hugs. Sam.

Hi Sam, I was at cross wires before as you will see in your PM. I thought you meant the time on your site ops: What you need to do is go into your profile and add an hour to the time settings. It's because of this.... http://www.devstars.com/maccabb/phpBB2/faq.php#8 Hope you're enjoying the golf!! hugs Sarah

I keep getting invalid session let me try again Hi Paulfan, Sam, Jen and everyone Paulfan as I've posted in the previous thread -- McCartney is doing great. At 61 he's still the top concert draw in the world, he still cracks the top 10 album chart --he's arguably the most covered celeberity on the planet. Your repeat of how Macca is criticized isn't an exact representation of what I said. I basically said that a select few attack Macca is by criticizing his softer and lighter music -- they do the same on many other artists like Phil Collins, Billy Joel, etc. Rock and Roll critics tend to prefer artists who just do Rock and Roll. Nonetheless, If a select few don't like him -- so what! The opposite of love isn't hate but indifference. As I said in many replies to your posts -- the fact that he's criticized every now and then shows that he's relevant! People like to attack those that are on top and those that get a lot of positive PR and adulation. The same is true in sports, politics and just about everything. Even one of Macca's critics acknowledged this fact and said the fact that he's even writing the article shows how powerful Macca still is. However, even Macca's worst critics like Rollingstone -- still can be quite complementary. Go on Rollingstone.com and read their reviews of his albums -- even some of his albums that are considered not that strong such as Off the Ground is given 4 stars! As a whole, Macca has arguable the biggest fan base in the world -- and for every critic who doesn't like him -- he has 10 who do!

Hi Mike, This may help with the Invalid Session problem http://www.devstars.com/maccabb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=11674#11674 I also have to say I agree with your post about Paul.

Hi Mike, Welcome back!!! I hope you get your posting problems sorted out. And I, too, agree with what you wrote about Macca---expecially the last paragraph. I think I've said this before, but as the daughter of a music critic, I've learned to pay very little attention to the critics or others who may not agree with my personal taste in music or film or sports or whatever. I know what I like and basically, that's all I care about! And, Giri, I really don't think that Paul needs defending in any way, shape or form. Just enjoy the music and as Sam said, ignore the rest!!! After all, isn't that why we are all here---because we enjoy Macca's music? I hope your trip to the UK was just fantastic, Mike (of course it was!). Welcome home. hugs, Jennifer

Hi Mike, I see you finally made it. I was just letting Clo know what you told me when she asked me why people can't geniunely see Paul as a nice guy and hwo you told me about people seeing him as a pr man. I asked ehr what she meant by Paul has uleterior motives for speaking and she told me stuff like he onl says what people wnat to hear. She didn't understand why people can't see Paul as geniune and I tired to answer ehr question and tried to remember some of the stuff you told me. I wasn't too worried about the critics this time around I was just trying to explain to Clo what I've been told by you and some others. As for critics yes they will knock anyoen on top because it is their job and I think jealousy. I was on Peter Noone's site a couple of weeks ago and he talked about Paul being the best lookign man he'ds een and how he played the bass real well and sang real well and thought he must have amde a deal witht he devil because nobody can sing and play bass that well. He said he hated him for it too. It sounds like he was jealous of him which is probably why people knock him. I think jealousy.

Yes JEn we are all here because we enjoy Paul's music. THe only reason I defend Paul si because I don't feel he deserves this kind of treatment plus if you don't stnad up to critics you get bullied alot. At least Paul showed the world who si number 1 last year with the tour. He will leav the critics in the dust.
-
Sam maybe that is the reason why Liverpool Rockers don't age lol! ISn't LEd Aeppelin british too though? If not from Liverpool what part of England are they from?
-
Hi Jen Had a blast in Liverpool. You'll really enjoy the city -- it was my favorite stop on my UK trip. Cheers! Mike

Paulfan Hi again. In terms of the PR stuff I really meant that more regarding to how some compare Paul to John. Some say that Paul aims to please whereas John doesn't care. Some cling to the fact that Lennon was the cool rebel (and like that image) versus Paul who was the nice and eager to please guy. To each their own as to what image people like -- and who knows how things are really I understand that Lennon can be real soft and nice whereas Paul has his rebellious streak, too. Listen to Double Fantasy and then listen to Macca's 2 recordings at the time which were McCartney 2 & Back to the Egg. If anyone did that -- Macca would sound more like the rebellious rock and roller whereas Lennon would seem soft. In my view, what made them both great song writers is that they both had hard and soft edges. Personally, I think Macca's solo music is much more diverse and interesting than Lennon's material whereas Lennon's work had stronger lyrics and was more introspective. To each their own as to what moves you & that includes critics! Personally, I don't mind critics unless they are unfair. That is, they impute their beliefs to be some sort of truism and extend what they think as the consensus of everyone. Why should any critic's opinion be more important than you or I or anyone else for that matter. For every critic who doesn't like Macca there are scores who do. Macca is the most successful song writer ever. He has more # 1's -- hit albums, biggest selling concert ever, the most played song -- was the biggest hitmaker for the biggest band there ever was. Enough said. You and I and many others believe that he is the best of all time. So enjoy the music! Cheers! Mike

Paulfan Sorry had a typo I meant of course John in the past as opposed to present tense.
-
Mike I see what you are saying. I can understnad people not being fans of Macca's either except some of them really put him down. There are some John fans on ehre that I like real well who don't put Paul down and that is fine with me. I feel the way you do about unfairness which is why I've had to defend Paul. I guess if there were John fnas and critics who chose John as their favorite beatle without putting Paul dwon I wouldn't mind. The way some people act is like their opinion of Macca is right and John was the king and on one website one person said Paul is good but face facts people John was the greatest beatle he was the msot creative. I was in the store a couple of years ago and asked when Driving Rain came out and the people said November and one guy in there said Paul Mccartney he has been around for years. I siad yes eh is good and the guy said I saw his movie Give My Regards To Broadstreet and some other stuff and he wondered why Paul wasn't keeping up with the younger geneation.
-
I told the guy Paul was older and he said I know he is older but why can't he sell or keep up with today's generation like Clapton and the Stones? I was prett mad at the time and I told a person who worked there because Paul is more mature and he said to tell the guy that except the guy had left the store by then. I don't understand why critics pounce on slow music whether it be Paul or anyone else. Why do people hate slow music? I am personally happy that Paul does slow music for I can listen to it well into old age. I have Back To The Egg and yes it is a great album and Dobule Fantasy is pretty slow. Even John's most popular solo single Imagine is slower than Paul's which is Maybe I'm Maazed,Live and LEt Die and Band On The Run. You are right we shouldn't worry what the critics say. I hope one day I will be able to ignore them. I'm still trying to learn to ignore them. Do you like Silly Love Songs or Let'Em In better?
-
Mike don't worry about the typo,I also just made one with Maybe I'm Amazed. Paul is the king!
-
Paulfan I replied to your last post a couple of times but they didn't go through -- let's see if this one works.

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been able to post lately but I've been so busy on things that kept me away from my laptop. I'll go through the latest posts tomorrow and answer any that need a reply. Cheers. Sam.
