I made Sam up by 29! Kat, no I didn't take it. A friend of mine did. She kept holding up a sign that said Sir Paul in St. Paul and it was all over the screen. She spent a lot of time in the UK and was at three of the four London shows and I saw her sign on the screen at all three shows.

Hi Sam, Yesterday I was reading an interview that Paul did with Chrissie Hynde. In it he said Linda didn't like High society type of people. What does he mean by high society types?

Hello and good morning to everyone. I have some bad news to report. It seems Cliff Richards has outsold the Beatles and is now considered the UK's Ultimate Pop Star. This is sad. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/040223/140/emo61.html

I can understand how some might consider that sad news, but Cliff Richards was around before the Beatles were big and from what I hear about him he is a great (much like Macca)guy. So my congratulations to Sir Cliff and may he enjoy the fruits of his labor. Cheers, Sam C.

Hello everyone. I'm tired. I've written 20,000 words in the last four days and I'm bushed. So this is a mass post. Libra. Thanks for sending the cheque. I hope you liked the book. Paulfan By `High society types' Paul means snobby people. Sam C, Maccascruff, Harleyblues, Mike, Jennifer,Starr, Thankls for all those voies. Tashi Cliff has had hits in FIVE decades and good luck to him. In that UK poll all the experts agreed that The Bealtes are the #1 act of all time. Record sales in that context arern't that important. Vinny I'm watching you, heh, heh. Where's my MBE ?? I'll try to get back tomorrow but I'm working flat out for a revised and bigger USA edition of `The Birth of The Beatles'. I'll keep ypu all posted. Love and massive hugs. Sam xx

Hello and good evening Sam, I didn't realize Cliff had been around for so long. To be honest, I cannot name one song by him. I am glad that they realized the Beatles were the best ever. they won't get any argument from me there. I am looking forward to hearing more about the 'Birth of the Beatles' Love and hugs, ~Tashi

Tashi, He was very big over in Britain for decades and had a number one hits with the Shadows and then by himself. As for over here his hits were: 1959 Living Doll (with the Shadows) only went up to 30 1964 It's All In The Game 25 1976 Devil Woman 6 1979 We Don't Talk Anymore 7 1980 Carrie 34 Dreaming 10 Suddenly 20 Above was with Olivia Newton John 1981 A Little In Love 17 1982 Daddy's Home 23 Over in England during the 60s Cliff Richard (you may want to consult the website www.everyhit.com ) had 56 top ten hits and 12 went to number one. He was very big in England, which is probably why he was knighted and is now called Sir Cliff

Hi Paulfan I think some do consider Macca to be Lennon's equal and over time he might make strides in that department. I would say that Macca certainly has has legions of fans. I wouldn't say that Macca is the average fan's least favorite Beatle. He seems to win most of the survey's via Beatle fans when they are asked to pick their favorite Beatle -- including a recent survey here done by an oldie radio station in FL. Macca won by a mile. I think Macca is most music magazines favorite target among the Beatles but that's changing, too. So, didn't imply with that email that things look bleak for Macca. My point really is that Lennon has pretty much the perch as the top Beatle at the moment. And, most everything that the average person sees around them which is driven by the media --Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, music magazine picking best artists, polls, etc -- says that Lennon is on top. I don't hold any ill will to Lennon's rep but personally I don't think that the media does much to bolster Macca in terms of being his equal. As you know, it's frustrating to me becuase listening to both of their music it's beyond absurd to me that anyone can come to that conclusion. But, I think you are right -- most of the disparity between the two centers on the two different images -- no question in my mind that the media and rock critics gravitate towards Lennon's image of the rock and roll politically driven rebel. Cheers! Mike

Sam goodmorning sir, I have not received any reply as yet. When i wrote to HRM a couple of years ago about the Kings ring I own it took about 2-3 months to get a reply. Mel is my witness Sam, I did send it off. Please have mercy on me......dont lock me up in the Tower

Hi everyone, Sam, I am glad to hear that you are hard at work on the writing! Keep it up! I really don't have an opinion on Cliff Richard. I wouldn't know a thing about him except that my best friend liked him way back when he did some song with Olivia Newton John. Otherwise, I probably would not know who he was, except fro the few mentions in books on the Beatles. I hope everyone is having a good evening (or morning!)

Hi All just another bump here for this thread, well i hope they don't wait till Paul dies before he gets the respect he deserves, isn't that how it always goes?? Have a good night everyone!! or Day!! Lol...
