Hi Mike I won't be able to see Ringo in Chicago this year as I have a long standing arrangement to meet friends in Kentucky that Monday and Tuesday. I'm going there directly after Abbey Road on The River. I notice on your set list that he isn't doing one of my faves.... `Back Off Bugaloo'. I'll have to send him an e-mail requesting he does it. I've lost contact with him nowadays. Any ideas of the best way to get a message through ?? That's ironic me having to ask for details. Love to Lisa. Cheers. Sam.
-
Hi Sam Glad to hear you're OK. Hope you're having a good time. You're certainly not missing out on any nice weather here,LOL hugs Sarah
-
Hi Sarah It was lovely when I left...breaking all records..but too hot really. Here it has been okay with a nice cool breeze which is the way I like it. Love and hugs. Sam.
-
I love Back Of Bugaloo too Sam. Right now I'm listening to the Imagine soundtrack. I love Beautiful Boy and I think it is a song that every father can play for his son.
-
Hi Sam I don't know how to reach Ringo, wish I did but here's Ringo's version of his chat site http//ringotour.com/2003forum/index.php Personally, I wish he'd include couple of songs that Lennon wrote for him Goodnight Vienna & I am the Greatest. Cheers! Mike

Paulfan In my view Imagine is Lennon's best album by a mile. A lot of great songs on that one, I like them all except for How Do You Sleep (and I am sure you know why!) my favorite obscure one on it is "I Don't Want To Be a Soldier". However, I think the soundtrack to Imagine is different from the Album -- i.e., Beautiful Boy is on Double Fantasy as opposed to on Imagine. Cheers! Mike

Hi Sam!
-
Mike, I agree about Imagine being John's best solo album. What I meant was the soundtrack to the Imagine doctumentary that came out in 1988 has Beautfiul Boy on it. Also Jealous Guy is another great song on there. What number did the album reach on the billboard charts?
-
Mike I definitely know why you don't like How Do You Sleep. I've been told it was a response to Too Many People,Dear Boy and 3 Legs,is this true?
-
I meant what number did the Imagine album not the soundtrack reach on the billboard charts?
-
Paulfan Yes How Do You Sleep was a response to Ram. However, Ram had a few real subtle but not really strong digs -- How Do You Sleep was vicious. If I recall the album Imagine I think went to #1 -- but it had no hit singles aside from the single Imagine years later. Mike
-
Mike, How Do You Sleep does sound vicious but I heard somebody helped John write it. Phil Spector if I'm correct. I heard that John was hurt by Ram and decided to write How Do You Sleep and made fun fo the Ram cover also. Imagine went to number one? I think John had nothing to worry about if his albums sold well and his singles didn't. Doesn't that count more than the singles going to number one? I'm surprised that none of John's singles went to number one until Whatever Gets You Through The Ngiht. Iw onder why?
-
Paulfan If I recall John's albums sold decently -- especially his first 2 and last one, however if I recall the others did good but not great. Macca if I recall had 5 # 1 albums in a row in the 70s and outsold all his fellow Beatles combined -- and by the end of the 70s Macca outsold the Beatles. Cheers! Mike
-
Thanks Mike,I know that Paul was even voted most succesful songwriter by the guiness book of world records at the end of the 70s and received the rhodium disk for most honored composer and eprformer in music. I always wonder why John's albums didn't sell well after the first two? Imagine is now considered an anthem for world peace. I also wonder why Paul quit going to number one after Say Say Say? I do hope he goes to number one again. That is the one thing I didn't like about the 80s,Paul didn't sell like he did in the 70s and wasn't popular among the young like he was in the 70s. I'm glad he at least had the number 1 tour last year. Macca rocks!
-
I knew very little about Paul's career after the Beatles broke up. Question:At which year did "Say Say Say"release? And is this song have something to do with Jackson? :
-
Say Say Say came out in 1983 and yes it was a duet with Michale Jackson. Back then I thought he was okay but then he got real weird. I hated seeing him go to number one over Paul back then and see him win grammys and not Paul. Welcome to the thread my friend!

Macca and Lennon both had their ups and downs. If I recall many panned Lennon's Sometime in New York City which came soon after Imagine -- and I don't think he ever fully recovered until Double Fantasy. In the 80s, Macca's McCartney 2 got mixed reviews, Tug of War got great reviews, Pipes of Peace so so reviews & the the movie Broadstreet was a flop. After that Macca had a hard time recovering and got tagged by his 2 hit duets -- Say Say Say & Ebony & Ivory -- that was the stage where Macca was considered uncool for awhile. He still had a pretty good decade though Top 10 hits Coming Up, Take It Away, Ebony & Ivory, the Girl is Mine, Say Say Say, Spies Like Us, No More Lonley Nights and top 40 hits Press to Play, My Brave Face, So Bad (I think) in the UK he was bigger and also had hits with Pipes of Peace #1, and top ten hits Once Upon A Long Ago, Waterfalls. He's still a viable hitmaker in the UK -- songs like This One, Beautiful Night, Young Boy, World Tonight, Hope of Deliverance all made the top 40 in the UK.
-
Having said all that Macca is considered cool again and could use a big hit in the US but his albums are doing good Flaming Pie #2 Wingspan # 2 Back to the US #8 etc.
-
Mike it is pretty sad that John never recovered after Sometime In NEw York City. I wonder how Walls and Bridges did? As for Macca yes he did get considred uncool for awhile back int eh 80s when IW as growing upas were you. Say Say Say is what made me into a fan of his. howabout you? How did you become a Macca fan? I remember when Paul ahd his top 40 hits such as Take IT Away,Ebony and Ivory which is a great song and I don't understand how people could consider that song garbage,Spies Like Us and Broadstreet. Broadstreet the movie didn't come out where I live so I saw it on video. I remember reading reveiws of FLowers In THe Dirt and being disappointd when it didn't go to number one. It is good to see that paul is cool again and having top 19 hits but I do want a number one. It would be cool to see Paul at the top again. IT is good to see young people turning on to him as we did.
-
I'm glad Paul was still popular in the U.K. after all that is where he is from. I wonder which songs of his went to number one there back in the 80s?
