McCartney in Red Square DVD to include unseen performances by Dave Haber, What Goes On Editor As a member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney helped to launch the British Invasion and bring rock and roll onto the global stage, changing the world with a pulsing new sound, and a way of life not even the Iron Curtain could keep out. On May 24, 2003, Paul McCartney ended decades of anticipation with his first-ever concert in Russia. Crowds of over 100,000 joined Paul McCartney in Red Square for that history-making nearly three-hour show. In July, the A&E TV Network will present Paul McCartney In Red Square, which includes Paul's Red Square performance, and behind-the-scenes footage of his whirlwind visit to Russia, including a private meeting with President Vladimir Putin, and interviews with important members of Russia's cultural community, which reveal the importance the Beatles and McCartney played in the development of Russia's future. A&E also announced today that the new DVD of Paul In Red Square will include an exciting bonus! An exclusive, full-length bonus concert, Live in St. Petersburg, will also be included on the DVD. This concert has never before been seen in the US! Paul McCartney In Red Square includes live performances of these songs: Getting Better All the Time Band on the Run Can't Buy Me Love Two of Us Saw Her Standing There We Can Work it Out I've Just Seen a Face Live and Let Die Let 'Em In Things We Said Today Fool on the Hill Birthday Baby I'm Amazed Back in the U.S.S.R. Hey Jude She's Leaving Home Yesterday Let It Be Paul McCartney In Red Square will be shown on the A&E TV Network in June, and the DVD with the bonus concert footage never before seen in the US is expected to be available in May. Stay tuned for further details! Published April 29, 2005

Monthly Review - April 2005: During a website update in late March, Ringo flashes a copy of his finished CD ?Choose Love? (to be released on June 7th). A few weeks later, promotional copies are leaked at ?the fan convention formally known as ?Beatlefest? ? with one fan asking producer Mark Hudson to sign a copy. Days later, the album is leaked on the internet, signifying once again, that the music industry needs to tighten up the time frame between finished product and release date. Both Beatlefan and Ice magazine publish a full track listing / description for the album and an official press release is issued in late April. In related news, Ringo will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" on June 17th as part of GMA's live summer music series and the http://www.ringostarrart.com website opens. In late April, as reported in his web site update, Ringo is being inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame. Mark Lewisohn talks about his upcoming Beatles bio at the ?Fest For Beatle Fans?. He distinguishes his work from the avalanche of other Beatle books on the market by commenting on his exacting research skills. Julian Lennon turns 42 on April 8th and announces his intention to reissue his out of print albums with bonus tracks. More Lennon books are announced for the fall including ?Lennon Revealed? by Larry Kane and one written by his former cleaning lady. In ?Ballad Of John And Yoko? style, Paul McCartney composes a song called ?Hometown Papers? in which he defends himself and his wife against their critics. It is unsure whether this track will appear on McCartney?s upcoming album now scheduled for release by Capitol on September 13th. On April 18th, Paul McCartney?s ?US? tour is announced for this fall. Ticket sales are brisk with one venue selling out in a record breaking 14 minutes. The ?Lennon? musical premiers in San Francisco and is received with mixed reviews. It was pulled from it?s Boston run and will be retooled for it?s Broadway opening this summer. A Beatles tour contract is published on the "Smoking Gun" web site. In a refreshing contrast to modern contracts, the Beatles modestly asked for reasonable security and a riser for Ringo's drums.
