Paul McCartney Rocks the Plains of Abraham by Rob on July 17th, 2008 Sir Macca will be touching down in Quebec this Sunday, July 20th. His only North American concert so far this year, organizers are expecting an attendance of 200,000 people. It?ll be the first time McCartney has ever played Quebec. And although there?s a mite of controversy over his appearance, Sharp is sure it?ll be an awesome party all the same. In anticipation, we?ve chosen three songs we hope McCartney plays: 1. ?Ebony & Ivory? (1982) It might be hard to pull off, considering his duet partner, Stevie Wonder, probably won?t be with him. But as a three-and-a-half minute slice of pure ?80s schmaltz pop, E & I is a representative of the decade it was recorded in, and a great song. Maybe he?ll find a SW stand in the crowd? 2. ?Jet? (1973) This is Macca rocking out. A deep bass and heavy guitar plus an anthemic chorus would have les gars in Quebec going crazy. 3. ?Beautiful Night? (1997) Should McCartney not want to dip into the Beatles back catalogue, we recommend he play this song. Not only is Ringo on the drums, but the song is string-heavy and slowly percolates into a raucuous sing-a-long; just like ?Let It Be.? If the setlist of the concert he played in Kiev, Ukraine last month is any indication, he?ll only be playing one of the tunes. Oh well. Sharp can still hope. Are you listening Macca?

(Fea)

It's so famous, there's a webcam set up (viewing the opposite direction of the album) to watch for tourists imitating the album cover. See if you can spot some below.

(novum/svm)

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell camp out under stars By Tom Bryant Showbiz Reporter 8/08/2008 Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell EXCLUSIVE HE CAMPS OUT IN NATIONAL PARK Sir Paul McCartney ditched his life of luxury to camp out under the stars with his lover. Macca, 66, and Nancy Shevell, 47, cosied under the canvas in a secluded spot during their trip on Route 66. The passionate pair arrived in their 1989 Ford Bronco at Bennett Springs State Park, Missouri, on Sunday. They excitedly unpacked their tent after finding a quiet, shaded area by a cool spring. Fellow campers said they seemed "totally in love" as they walked hand in hand by the river the next day. One said: "It was incredible to see one of the world's richest musicians going back to basics. They didn't seem to have a care in the world as they laughed and joked with each other." Their adventure turned into a real Magical Mystery Tour as the pair cycled off to explore the beautiful surroundings - before setting out on a five mile hike. A source said: "It was nearly 30 degrees but the heat didn't slow them down at all. They were like two teenagers on a first date - it was really sweet." The couple packed a picnic basket and ate under the stars by their tent. The source added: "They were seen tucking into sandwiches. Paul even had a cheeky bottle of stout which he'd packed away." They set out from Sir Paul's home in The Hamptons, New York State, last Thursday.
