If elected, David Cameron has promised MPs a free vote on the repeal of Labour's anti-hunt laws. But the Beatles legend urged: "Don't let politicians bring back cruelty." Sir Paul backs a campaign to keep the ban by the IFAW wildlife charity. In its report on the issue, he described pre-ban scenes as "barbaric" and said they should remain part of Britain's past.

Paul McCartney For Hollywood (Clash music) North American tour confirmedlive Posted by Robin Murray Tue, Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed details of a North American tour, including a date at the Hollywood Bowl. Sir Paul McCartney occupies an almost unique position in pop culture. One of the principle songwriters in The Beatles, the Liverpool musician was responsible for shifting expectations over what pop music can achieve. Conquering the world, the Fab Four split in 1970 leaving Sir Paul McCartney to pursue a career with Wings. Turning solo, the songwriter is one of the most esteemed musicians on the planet. Now Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed details of a new North American tour. The singer performed a number of shows in the United States last year, including the first ever rock concerts at the new Citi Field. The New York arena is built on the site of Shea Stadium, a baseball ground which looms large in Beatles mythology. Recorded for a DVD, the show was a powerful indication of the importance of McCartney's career. Now Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed a new batch of North American dates, including one at Hollywood Bowl. The Californian stadium hosted a legendary concert by The Beatles, which arguably represents the height of Beatlemania. In addition to this the singer will open the tour in Phoenix next month, with more dates yet to be announced visit his website for more information. Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed the following shows: March 28 Phoenix Jobing.com Arena 30 Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl

Erykah Badu and Paul McCartney: First Twitter Sample Clearance? We recently looked at an example of Twitter collaboration in the music world, but this may be the first case wherein the micro-blogging network was used for mainstream sample clearance. Pitchfork reports on an exchange initiated by Erykah Badu on Twitter(), seeking last-minute clearance for a sample from the Wings song ?Arrow Through Me.? Looking to connect with Paul McCartney, she appealed to anyone who might help connect her to him or a closer contact in the chain. Following the stream of tweets, it looks like Badu got a hookup to Lenny Kravitz, who knows McCartney?s daughter Stella, who then connected her to Paul. He approved the sample clearance and she thanked her ?Twitter fam? for making the clearance come together. As Tears for Fears? Curt Smith talked about in our recent interview, usually this process involves lots of lawyers and in-betweens and can often be drawn out for weeks if not months of back and forth. In another excellent example of how social media can be used to disintermediate the music industry status quo, Twitter made sample clearance a collaborative and rapid process by putting two artists into direct contact. Do you know of any other interesting examples of social media making things easier for artists?
