Merle and Celeste Krause invite fans to ?Come Together for Songs of the Beatles.? Local artists will reprise hit songs of Britain?s ?Fab Four? artists. The concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Tickets are available in advance at Tone Music, Albert Lea, and the Coffee House on Main, Austin. Advance tickets are $15 and on the day of the concerts, $18. The concerts will be performed at the Lighthouse Event Center, 638 Marshall St., Albert Lea.

In 1962, "Twistin' the Night Away" by Sam Cooke was released. In 1971, Grace Slick and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane had a baby girl. Slick claimed she wanted to name the child god (correct), but the couple decided on China. Also in 1971, Charles Manson and three young women followers were convicted in Los Angeles of murder and conspiracy in the 1969 slayings of actress Sharon Tate and six others. In 1980, Paul McCartney was released from a Tokyo jail after being held for more than a week. He had been arrested when marijuana was found in his luggage. In 1990, actress Ava Gardner died of pneumonia at her London home. She was 68. In 1992, singer Emmylou Harris joined the Grand Ole Opry. In 1993, Michael Bolton, Boyz II Men, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey and Reba McEntire were among the winners at the 20th annual American Music Awards. In 1994, singer Marky Mark was sued by a Portland, Maine, woman, who said she was trampled during 1 of his shows. She said he invited the crowd to rush the stage after he stripped down to his underwear. In 2006, "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch was convicted of failing to pay taxes on his one million dollar prize. He was sentenced to 51 months in prison. ***Ik heb de prijzen zitten te vergelijken met btrekking de Paul McCartney Amoeba single cd en kwam tot de conclusie dat Bol.com echt veel duurder is dan de cd winkel waar ik het online had besteld. Bol.com vraagt 16 euro (schandelijk) en Leenheer Records maar 11,50 euro's. Ik krijg overigens morgen mijn Amoeba cd al in de bus hoor vanuit Leiden.****

Today In Entertainment History February 3 Posted by: Larry Riggs On February third, 1959, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed in a plane crash in Iowa. Holly was 22, Valens was 17 and the Big Bopper was 28. In 1967, Jimi Hendrix recorded "Purple Haze" in London. It was released in March in the U.K. as a follow-up to his first British single "Hey Joe." In 1968, Paul McCartney recorded "Lady Madonna" at the Abbey Road studios. The record is credited to The Beatles, but McCartney played with unknown session musicians. In 1969, The Beatles, over objections from Paul McCartney, hired manager Allen Klein to straighten out the band's financial affairs. The band's mismanagement and money problems eventually led to its breakup. In 1978, Harry Chapin met with President Carter at the White House as Carter announced the establishment of a commission on hunger. Chapin spent months lobbying Congress for the creation of the commission. In 1993, singer Gloria Estefan got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with about 400 fans and family members on hand. In 1996, actress Audrey Meadows died of cancer in Los Angeles. She was 71. In 2003, authorities arrested producer Phil Spector at his mansion in suburban Los Angeles. The body of actress Lana Clarkson had been found in the foyer. In 2007, The Dixie Chicks won five Grammys, including album of the year for "Taking the Long Way." The album had been largely ignored by country music stations.

PAUL MCCARTNEY'S AMOEBA SECRET EP BESPREKING van Fea: Ik ben afgelopen maandag mijn Paul McCartney-Amoeba Secret EP ontvangen. Het komt in een kartonnen verpakking. De achterkant bevat een puzzeltje met de woorden: Paul McCartney-Amoeba's Secret, That Was Me, C Moon, I Saw Here Standing There, Only Mama Knows. Ik heb de nummers niet op volgorde gezet omdat ik het puzzeltje eerst moest oplossing (de titels) 8 880731306 4 June 27th 2007 Kostte mij 11,50 (via een import cd zaak) in Nederland. Ik moet zeggen dat Paul met zijn 66 jaar nog erg goed bij stem is. Nu hoop ik dat MPL eens ooit nog het gehele concert eens op een officiele cd in zijn geheel zal uitbrengen. Dit is een heerlijke opwarmertje daarvoor.
