Paul McCartney 2016 Rumors
-
1976, a full blown tour 1980, not on tour at all / tour aborted 1984, not on tour at all 1988, a year before his tour comeback 1992, not on tour at all / just played the US extensively 1996, not on tour at all 2000, not on tour at all 2004, just played the US extensively / would do so year after 2008, not on tour at all 2012, very few dates that year, and even then he still played US, even a few days after the elections It can only be said for 2004, and I would say that's merely coincidental.

In 2004 Paul played only in Europe (apart from a benefit gig in the US) and played only in the US in 2005.

I am hearing no South America in April. And many of the announcement come within 4-5 weeks of the shows. Depending where he plays, he doesn't need a lot of time to sell tickets

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, we are taking about whether there is any correspondence in him avoiding the US during election years. edit: I might have been confusing with saying "just played". I meant he just did it (2002), not "only", haha. My bad.

I know, but you wrote Paul played the US extensively in 2004.

Of course HE doesn't need the time...we do! Just to figure out where we're going.

What about November?

-
Ok, so to speculate: If no gigs in South America are scheduled for April, does that mean April will see McCartney perform somewhere else? USA? Japan? If not, then May at the earliest. Maybe South America? June he will be in Europe. July more Europe? Or nada? USA perhaps?

Nope. But it's now March, so if he is doing anything in April, anywhere, we would have to hear about it fairly soon. Last year's May UK gigs went on sale in early March, so....
-
if he comes to UK in may i'll be so upset it's the only month i'm busy!
-
i'm guessing no South America this spring.

Anything this Spring?? Sure is quiet.

I could see this: Late April- Mid May: US/Canada June- Europe July-August: US Second Leg? More Europe? Without South America, it's kinda weird. If the rumored Newark show happens, I wonder if he'll totally bypass NYC, or do one night in Jersey and one night at the Garden. He could easily sell out one night at the Boston Garden. If no Boston show, I could easily see Hartford as a contender. Bruce sells out there every tour (and he plays Boston as well). I could therefore see this: -Newark (or NYC, maybe both) -Boston (or Hartford) -Montreal (strong market, hasn't played since 2011) -Baltimore -Raleigh -Tampa (or Miami, maybe both) -Little Rock -San Antonio -Oklahoma City -Las Vegas (hasn't played since '11) -Denver (hasn't played since '10) -Anaheim (arena show?) -San Jose (arena) -Portland -Vancouver (arena) -Boise (rumored from last year) -Grand Rapids (a much-needed Midwest date) Maybe a show in Calgary, return to Halifax? He played Quebec in 2013, but they have a new arena... Rochester I could see too. Similar size venue to Albany. Bruce played there Saturday, sold out. Please note these are just speculations. If the rumor is true and the tour will begin in late April, I'd say we'll hear about this tour no later than next week, maybe 2 weeks. If I were to honestly guess, I would say announcements starting next week.

Rochester Blue Cross Arena capacity is 13000, Times Union in Albany is 17500, quite a bit larger. Rochester is about the smallest place Bruce plays, Paul playing there would be one tough ticket!!!

Total capacity for Paul in Albany was 13,044... Could be done.

Certainly not saying it couldn't be done, just that the 2 venues are much different in size...Ive seen many shows in both venues going back a lot of years, would sure be fun... There is also a new shed in Syracuse with a 17,500 capacity that has attracted some good bookings so far. PS, I was in the pit sat night for Bruce in Rochester as well as the shows in Albany and Buffalo. Great shows this time around

Going March 28 MSG. Can't wait. Syracuse could work, maybe that shed or Carrier Dome. Maybe Paul will play some ampitheatres/sheds, like Virginia Beach or PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ. Jones Beach would be awesome too!
