Wow, this is a great Christmas so far! I found the Red Rose Tea commerical, I remember from many many many years ago....
Why, it takes me back to the old Cavern Days. Wonder if the boys are still around, and what they are up too! Podgie (EEEEEEEEEEEEEE-OOOOOOWWWWW!) Monkey -

Opening for '08 The People's Opening Venue: St George's Plateau, Lime Street. At 20:08 Friday 11 January, the artists and people of the city are set to gather together on St George's Plateau. The People's Opening will include an extraordinary performance from the rooftops surrounding the cultural heart of the city. This spectacular event involves massed community choirs and aerialists, performers ranging from Ringo Starr to The Wombats and an epic aerial ballet of dancing cranes, containers and scissor lifts, as Liverpool celebrates the transfromation of the 'Big Dig' into the 'Big Gig'

I'm on my way tomorrow...London...Liverpool! The Opening Ceremony should be great!...and "Liverpool 'The Musical'"! Also, the Number 1s concert the following week! It will be nice meeting up with friends again. I am looking forward to another great time. Looks like I won't be posting for a few weeks! Podgie (Who else takes a vacation in January?!) Monkey

Ringo's appearance in Liverpool was great, there just wasn't enough of it! A huge crowd at the Opening Ceremony, and Ringo only did one song, "Liverpool08". It was great to see him though. The real highlight of the Opening Ceremony was Ringo doing the drum solo from Abbey Road (The End)...he has never done that live before! "Liverpool the Musical"...which was pretty much billed as a Ringo show, he only did "With A Little Help From My Friends" and "Liverpool08". "Power To The People" Ringo didn't really sing, everyone came out on stage...and he was lost in the crowd. I did like The Liverpool Philharmonic playing some English Heritiage songs like "Rule Britannia". The No. 1s was a sham. The lineup was so bad, that even Elvis Costello who was listed in the program and touted as appearing...didn't show up! I enjoyed the originals who did show up...The guy from The Merseybeats doing "Sorrow", the guy from The Swinging Blue Jeans doing "Hippy Hippy Shake" (The original guy singing sure blew away Terry Sylvester at US Beatlefests), The Scaffold with Brother Mike McCartney doing "Lily The Pink" and a new song, and Gerry Marsden doing "How Do You Do It", "Ferry Cross The Mersey" and "You'll Never walk Alone". Considering this show was for Charity, and was a big event for the Capitol of Cool-cha, where were Paul, Ringo, Cilla Black, Billy J Kramer, ...etc...etc? Overall it was a disappointment. These people didn't have to perform, it would have just been nice to see them up on the stage waving. I had alot of fun on my trip, the funnest part was meeting and hearing some stories from some original Cavern Dwellers. I enjoyed myself. Podgie (Now a Cool-cha Voolture) Monkey

Podgie I'm glad you are back safe and sound and had a good trip. Fea thanks for the links with Ringo, I was wanting to see them and couldn't so thanks for posting them.
-
Glad you had a good time, Podgie, even if the No. 1 show was a disappointment. I had heard Ringo didn't perform much at the other show. I sure hope Paul does more than two songs in June.
