We need a little Christmas?right this very minute! Okay, I think it?s about time for another Podgie Christmas spectacular. Let?s see what will I challenge this time? Hmmm?Howz about ?White Christmas? the movie?! Sure that?s a classic. I do tend to get this mixed up with ?Holiday Inn? (aren?t they the same movie?). Grab a popcorn and pull up an iceblock, and Relax and enjoy? The movie starts out during the war. What war? All this and WWII. Paul Wallace is a superstar solo act who is putting on a Christmas show for the troops, with a little help from? Always the entertainer! The troops love it! The General in charge of troops shows up and enjoys the show. The troops admire the General. He is a great leader. A nice guy. He looks so much younger than today? Man, It was a great show. It was the Early days. This was presuperstardom, yeah, the Black and White days? Before you know it, Happy Christmas war is over! With the war over what next? Yup?heading to America?VJ Records, Capitol Records, Tollie, Swan,?what success! Oh yeah, Wallace and Grommit team up! Forgot to mention that. It was inevitable though, wasn?t it. Their management cleaned them up, and put them in suits. Podgie (quite a classic, huh?) Monkey
-
Together they were the greatest act of all time! Their show was destined to be an immediate success! Yup, what an act! Nurk Twins eat your heart out! They did all the classics as well as their oOn material, I think they are singing ?Honey Pie? here... The Christmas holidays brought a hiatus from rehearsals for the show. They traveled to Atlantic City or was it Philly (oh well doesn't matter) where they were duped into checking out a sister act. Yeah, they didn?t know what to expect? Why there was love at first sight for two of them. Completely swept off their feet? But the economy was bad for the sisters, they were in trouble with creditors, they had to skip town fast! Grommit not only gave his One After 909 train tickets to the girls, but they dressed up and performed the sisters act, so that they could escape? Later that evening, they ran to the station and Railman said they got the wrong location. Yup,Instead of going where they intended, they met up with the girls and were on their way to Vermont. Yeah, the girls had a gig to play at a Ski Lodge. A perfect Christmas Holiday setting. Podgie (the green mountain state) Monkey

Soon they arrived in Vermont. Unfortunately, when they arrived, because of global warming, there was no snow. Surprise, huh?! I guess there was even Global Warming back when the original movie was made, eh? Another surprise of surprises! Guess who was running the Ski Lodge?! Yup, The General. His recording studio on an island didn?t work out because of a volcano, and he was now the owner of a Ski Lodge! But who was going to go to a Ski Lodge with no snow? The place was empty. Actually it may have been full before the girls started singing. Wallace and Grommit talked about the Lodge and the show, and about Christmas, during dinner at the empty show. I?m not sure Grommit heard any of the conversation, he was too interested in the show, or maybe the sister?. The next thing you know Wallace has a wonderful idea and gets on the phone. We need to rehearse, Bring our show up to the Ski Lodge!!! Podgie (maple syrpt on the pancakes) Monkey
-
The General was confused and delighted, why would they bring a huge show to a place where there is no customers? The show people started showing up, and the place was all of a sudden bustling. Yeah, the whole troop was turning up. Wallace and Grommit were back with their new fantastic show! This show was huge! Their highlight was ?Gotta Sing Gotta Dance?, with an all star cast! The General was amused. Next thing you know, Wallace goes on tv in secret and makes an announcement to get all the recording artists and Merseybeat acts together to come to Vermont. Do it for ?The General?! Kinda looks like Ed Sullivan doesn?t it?! Podgie (an old fashioned Christmas) Monkey
-
The night before Christmas was the opening of the show. They keep the General in the dark about the plans. They even got the General to put on his old uniform by tricking him. What a terrific Christmas surprise! A full house! Everyone showed up. The General was surprised and proud of the effort. Why they all even dressed up in their old uniforms for him? And to top it off, a Christmas miracle it snowed! The Ski Lodge was saved! What more could you ask for? A perfect Holiday. Oh yeah, a terrific finale! Which included The New York Ballet performing Podgie?s reworked ?Monkey Kingdom?! A smash hit! A new Christmas classic! That?s it folks?Have a great Christmas! See ya next year? Podgie (oh Magoo, you done it again!) Monkey

Yeah, it was tough casting the girls. At first I was going to have Brian and Rusty be Wallace and Grommit and the General be Paul, but then who would the girls be? It is much more better as a tribute to George Martin. Podgie (He really was the General in the Lennon-McCartney story) Monkey

Looks good, Podgie

I almost did "The Grinch" this year. Yeah, I had a whole storyboard laid-out, about the BooHoo's down in BooVille wanting the same old songs in the setlist. Here is one of the frames: It woulda been a classic too. We got a great setlist this tour, and who knows what more surprises Paul may have for us. It is definitely a "Wonderful Christmastime" Paul is no Grinch, that's for sure! Podgie (Martha would be a great Max too!) Monkey
