PodgeTheBear:
It is funny how some things trigger memories. Fair Isle being an actual island off the coast of Scotland, reminded me that my father was stationed for a short time in the 304 Polish RAF Squardon on Benbecular Island off the coast of Scotland. It had me searching maps to see the relation. The islands are on opposite sides of Scotland. He met and married my Mother (who was in the Land Army) at Milden Hall in England. Small world. Podgie (odd to think, without WWII I would not exist) Monkey
Podgie, I know a few people that wouldn't have existed if not for WWII.

I saw this photo somewhere... http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss178/PodgieTheMonkey/d8403851.jpg ...and it got me thinkin'. There isn't a second chance contest, is there?... http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss178/PodgieTheMonkey/edb3e471.jpg Podgie (always tryin') Monkey

I came close to putting a "Y U No.." thread in the Show section of the forum. I think internet meme's are cool. I was discussing art with someone the other day, and said that sometimes things could be so bad, that they are good. Podgie (probably like most of my work) Monkey

this thread never fails to amuse me. I learned about the history of the cat in art. In the MIddle Ages, cats were forbidden as they were believed to be demons. (Cats are not mentioned in the Bible which is odd since they originated from that part of the world). Artist were allowed to include dogs in paintings of family home life, but not cats. A few were rebellious who loved their cats and included a small cat in a hidden spot under a table or in a corner a few times. After the inquisition, it began to increase with seeing cats in the art world and then finally at the Age of Reason afterwards, they were allowed to be depicted in art without persecution and cat lovers came out of their closets. There is a museum in Germany that is dedicated to the Cat in Art and I read this in a pamphlet they had.

Funny when I think of dogs in art, I think of a table of Poker playing dogs. I did a google search, and there is a table of Poker playing cats now too. I am sure the dogs came first, and the cats are a parody of a parody. I think Brian would like the cheating pug in the painting. Podgie (I can't picture any old classics with cats in them) Monkey
-
I've seen dragons playing poker too.

This thread seems to have gone off course lately. What happened to the Good Ole Parody? Lately, there hasn't been any good movies coming out of Hollywood. Halloween is coming up though, let's see... Not all that scary. Podgie (...but you know it's to be expected) Monkey

I like the caption, "Now, just the women." and a confession...I sing at both parts anyway.

Podgie I hope you are alright, I keep hearing about the bad weather in the northeast and all the power outages. Sounded like the trick-or-treaters might of had to use shovels. Anyway, hope everything is alright.

Thanks for your concern, alot of tree branches down, power losses. Not much too do but paint... I guess I am still in an artsy mood from that last contest. Podgie (I think it could use a cat and a chandelier though) Monkey

Hey, I just saw the article on Paul restoring the Motown Piano!!! How cool is that?! I can just picture it in the museum when they get it back!!!.... Podgie (alot more magical once Paul is finished with it!) Monkey
-
Glad you are alright Your paintings are Awesome The piano looks very Paul like
-
Whatever happened to Paul doing a Disney Animated Movie? There had been rumours of Shrek or maybe some other project, but movies keep coming out...and still no Paul. I just keep imagining what could be... I know The Beatles turned down working with Disney on The Jungle Book, but I thought Paul was keen to do a movie with them. Podgie (I know it would be a cartoon classic!) Monkey
-
that's odd about Disney since the vultures are Beatles characatures.
-
Some things amaze me. I always like finding series of photos, and putting them together in series as an animation. You see things that are subtle in the photos, but are neat when viewed as an animation. I like this series in Hamburg. As an animation, it looks like Paul is the only one actually playing. It gives you a feeling of actually being there. Cool seeing Stu's foot slip, and in one frame it looks like the rollercoaster car passes between Pete Best and George. Podgie (almost like looking at a lost movie) Monkey

Podgie, it is cool and it also reminds me of those magic photos in Harry Potter.
