The Original Paul McCartney Picture Thread

Sigh. So the Daily Mail has an article with pictures of Paul at his hotel in Warsaw. I won't bother to link to it because most of the comments are just plain vicious. All about his hair -- the color, the cut, you name it. And a few of the usual "can't sing" comments, plus the usual "why can't he grow old gracefully" comments. It's really depressing. I do wish he'd just go grey. I'm tired of seeing someone I admire get ridiculed like this.

I just read the article and saw the pics, didn't bother reading the comments. It's really a shame that people say such nasty things... I think he's aged gracefully even with the hair coloring. I think it looked good when it was grey, but that it still does now. He and Nancy looked very happy in these photos.

People are bullies. That's true. And the DM encourages bullying by always publishing the worst photos of Paul. However, the truth is: His hair DOES look terrible most of the time. The cut is bad. The color has never looked right. He's allowed this to continue for 10 years through various shades of eggplant, henna, and chestnut. And through it all, his hair still looked better when it was salt-and-pepper in the 90s. And while part of me is appalled by how vicious people can be about someone else's hair, part of me is irritated with Paul that he won't DO something about it. Go gray. Go white. But at least get a good hair cut.

AND those were terrible pics. I also think they got out of focus because they zoomed way in on them & they make Paul look weird. I saw a couple of the same pics elsewhere, but they were from further away.

Here's one they used but it is not such a close up.

It`s rather naive to think that going white (which he is, of course), would stop nasty comments. That would only encourage them, believe me.The comments about Paul are pretty mild compared to the comments about James. Just don`t read the comments. Actually, it`s best to avoid all internet comments. Life`s too short. (And I like his hair and want him to carry on dyeing it, incidentally. Not that it matters.).

Tom Jones stopped dyeing his hair and the DM commenters stopped ridiculing his hair. The point is: Nine times out of 10, photos of Paul these days look awkward and it's the hair. It's gotten to the point where I'm always surprised to see a photo of him now where his hair looks good. He could do something about it. He doesn't. And it has driven away a lot of fans. Sure you can say they're superficial but the Beatles and Paul's massive fame were driven by people being attracted not just to their music but to their looks. And they played that card for all it was worth. It's a little late now to say that looks and appearance don't matter. Springsteen has proven it's possible to look great in your 60s with gray dyed hair, cut short.

Well then that is the "fans" problem not Paul's. I don't think Paul is going home crying every night because of the few so called fans that ditched him because he doesn't let his hair go grey or get it cut. That is their problem if they can't see past the hair and focus on the music. I for one don't care that he dyes his hair, when I see him in concert in a few weeks I'm still going to be there having the time of my life and not focusing on his hair.

It just worries me that the sheer volume of ridicule over such superficial things as his hair means there's no way his new album will get a No. 1 in the UK, let alone sell well. Rod Stewart produced a REALLY mediocre album this year and it went to No. 1 in the UK largely because of older women buying it who still think Rod is "hot" (even though I think he's the definition of icky). So to say it doesn't matter that many people in the UK don't like Paul for superficial reasons like his dyed hair that gets seen in bad photo after bad photo is to ignore the reality of the music business. ... And I'm done on this topic. Sorry for the rant. I just hate to see Paul get slammed. Ruins my day.

Agreed, the photos are definitely not so flattering. I like the fact that he looks happy and like he's having a good time. I guess I usually like his hair because it's just part of the whole package...I know most people seem to not like it when it's on the longer side or when it's messy. Makes perfect sense, I totally admit to seeing Paul through rose-colored glasses lol I do think it's rather silly that "fans" would turn away from him based on his hair alone. I'd venture to say that those people were not really fans in the first place, or turned away for some other reasons.

I no longer look at any comments made to a article anymore.Paul can look just fine, but the trolls come out with their nastiness. I love Paul no matter what...but the thing about his hair that I don't understand,He has a family of gorgeous women, they all are impeccable. Their clothes are perfect & their hair is always perfect. Just look at Nancy !!You'd think they would say something to him.Tell him who to go to,to get it styled. I wonder who cuts his hair now,it can't be who it use to be....
