Lazy, pleased you enjoyed it. He does still deliver really and when your actually there the odd vocal imperfection do not seem as great. Hope you laughed along and acted surprised and the wee stories though! Looked a cracking night. By the way, and take it as a compliment, your Mrs is hot!!

It was a truely outstanding performance from Paul and the band. The best gig I've ever been to. It will stay with me forever.

any idea of this was recorded last night ?

Hello, My second and almost certainly last time seeing the last creative Beatle left standing:would he hold up seven years later?I should never have even doubted him. By the way, ever wondered what an entire city on the lash looked like?No...hmmm,just me then...but Glasgow seemed to be pretty much it yesterday, buoyed by beautiful sunshine and the certainty that they were going to have a mass singalong later that day.Win/win! There was a doubt about how many tickets were sold for this show, what with the recession and Macca's top price of £95 including the always-justified booking fee,but it seemed pretty much full and there really was a knees-up atmosphere even on entering the stadium. By the way Hampden, any danger of you abandoning the ridiculous 'gotta buy some vouchers before you exchange them for a beverage' system?Thought not. The start to the show was a little underwhelming as the band strode out and promptly made no discernible noise at all.It was left to Macca to charm the bemused crowd for a minute or so before kicking-off with the low key "Venus and Mars":not something that I'd ever play at home to be fair, but he seems to like it. It is my guess that the hapless tech is now swimming with the fishes given that his guv'nor doesn't suffer fools. As I was lucky enough to be right on the rail I could hear some of the shouts between Macca and his lieutenants:it seemed that the crowd's relatively muted response was met with an answer of "...well,sod you:you can be quiet if you want but we're gonna play well regardless!". They then launched into the ubersingalong of "Jet" and never looked back. How can you lose when your catalogue allows to follow the odd clunker with something like "Drive My Car"?It's almost unfair and almost too much to take in,especially when the man announces that the Epiphone that he is playing is the same one that he used on 'Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver'.High grade guitar porn,no doubt! There was a little dig when he took his jacket off after two or three songs and said that that was it as far as costume changes went and for Madonna to eat her heart out.He is well aware of what he is worth in all senses:no false modesty here...this guy is nails. Tell you what though-he still has a bloody remarkable rock'n'roll voice as I heard him sing when away from the mic...surprisingly loud yet raw.It was his 68th birthday the other day too. His four bandmates have been with him for the last 7 years and more too but still don't seem complacent.Actually,if that happened I think they would be off the bus pronto,as the number of times that I saw Macca looking over at one of his two guitar players as they played a sequence and he looked quietly pleased, not smug, but I imagine he was tickled at how fucking tremendous those songs sounded. The other thing is that his band all sing back-up vocals too which breaks my 'no singing drummers' rule but I wouldn't argue with Abe Laboriel Jr. as not only are his drumsticks like oars but he reminds me of the bond villain Odd Job.Repect. So no,they didn't ring it in,no matter that this must have been the 60000th time playing these beauties. He must still get a buzz from people singing songs like 'Hey Jude' back at him one thousand times louder. The feeling you get when when you hear 'Let It Be' or 'Blackbird' is difficult to describe:they are part of you,so familiar are they. There were clearly some emotional highpoints:bloody hell, when two of your friends are gone how could there not be?There was a beautiful tribute to George in the form of Macca starting off 'Something' on the ukelele that belonged to George before bringing in the rest of the band.Wow!His oft-told anecdote about Harrison being a real George Formby expert and member of Formby's fan club went down well too. There had to be a mention for John of course and this was a little more reserved but because I was close I heard Macca say "...for you brother...".Amen. As corny as it is,I love 'Mull Of Kintyre':words that probably have me sectioned but there...I've said it.How good was it with a drum and pipe band onstage giving it some?Try fantastic and then some. I know none of this is ground-breaking stuff but frankly with a heritage act of his calibre, who cares? He was onstage without a break for 2 hours and 45 minutes which is Boss-like behaviour and it is obvious that he is a man with talent to burn. On the swift walk back to hotel I didn't hear one dissenting voice amidst all the swear-words,hah-hah!Truly we got the night out we wanted. and look bottom-right for your's truly! Cheers, Si. Please look at sponsoring me at https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/simonnicholl Couple of clunkers for sure, but who has a back-catalogue like his? 1. Venus and Mars / Rockshow 2. Jet 3. All My Loving 4. what i was wondering last night was, how come he showed pics of george during something but no pics of john during here today or give peace a chance lol ?
It'd be too painful for him; note how he doesn't have pictures of Linda during 'My Love'. It's the same. I really hope there's a DVD of the concert released, otherwise it'll have to be bootleg indeed!

wow what a night last night at hampden, from start to finish it was absolutely amazing, fantastic to hear ive just seen a face and also and i love her, highlight for me was that fantastic version of something, it brought tears to my eyes, pauls voice was flawless, the band was brilliant, myself and my wife were in bb7 and the sound of the crowd singing behind us was great. all the travelling on the train, the back just about at breaking point, my hips dropping off, my feet killing me, my throat on fire from singing every song at the top of my voice, the 2 and a half mile walk back to the hotel, none of that could ever stop us having the night of our lives, my 40 year wait to see my living idol was a night i will never ever forget, i sit here now with tears in my eyes thinking about it i hope all you wonderful people who shared that with us last night will feel the same for the rest of your lives. we love you paul and thank you for making my life complete.
Lovely post

Hey guys .....just wanted to say how much i enjoyed Sunday at Hampden... i will start by saying. i was only a casual fan...mostly of the beatles stuff... i had heard a few wings songs like jet and band on the run...but that was about it.. anyway after missing out on seeing my idol michael jackson last year due to his death.. after learning that paul was coming to scotland..and having been a casual fan, i simply had to go.. so since the set list came out after the first concert. i tried to learn alot of the songs..i already knew most of the beatles stuff and the few wings tracks. but certain songs like venus and mars, my love and sing the changes i did not know so i downloaded them...i never even bothered listening to 1985 or let em in... for some reason. anway i knew the set list and all the banter that goes on between the songs etc..so i was ready!....and i have to say.. it was the best concert i have ever been to! his voice for a 68 year old was totally amazing.. how can a guy that age have so much power?... the shock for me was the songs that i did not learn..they instantly got hooked in my brain...1985 was amazing!! i still can't believe that i have seen that beatle on the rooftop with the beard singing get back...a true legend! to top it off...after he made his exit in his bus with the police escort... he waved at me! sorry 4 the long post

Just digesting the gig after a very tired day yesterday back at work. Got there nice and early. Great that the weather was so good. Brilliant to see the place buzzing with Macca/Beatles fans. There were 3 guys in Sgt Pepper outfits belting out Beatles songs. (My 8 year old son in all his deadpan glory said 'There's one missing!'. There was also a busking bagpipers doing the hokey cokey and dancing about. Hilarious!! As a supprt, Sharleen was actually very good. I was pleasantly surprised. Her singing is tremendous. Glad to see she mixed her Texas stuff along with her recent stuff. I think there was only one song I didn't recognise. Paul's preshow video was a bit of a letdown. Thought it could've been a lot better. The main show however was fantastic. Walking back to my car, everyone I heard talking was raving about how good it was. It was great to hear some of the 'lesser known' tunes such as Letting Go, Mrs Vandebilt, Sing The Changes etc, but of course the classics are what makes it for the casual fan and though I don't consider myself one of those, my wife and son certainly are so it was good that even they knew 'most' of the songs. I was also impressed by how tight a unit the band are. They seemed to be having a great time up there esp Abe. Just watching them all goof about was entertaining in itself. Very start of the gig was a bit cringeworthy. I know Paul finds it hard to adlib at gigs and most of his stories are well scripted. So when we had the dead guitar situation he looked a bit like a rabbit caught in headlights for those very long couple of minutes. Thankfully once this was fixed it was business as usual. On the whole the playing was impeccable. Only noticed a couple of bum notes (Once by Paul during Blackbird, then I think maybe Wix during Hey Jude). It was great to see him doing Mull Of Kintyre again. It sounded so much better that the last time he played it in Glasgow when I struggled to hear the bagpipes over the band. Was it my imagination or was the whole gig on the quiet side? Being close to the front I was expecting to get blown away by the sound but my ears weren't even ringing at the end of the gig..... Watching some of the videos back Paul's voice sounds quite rough (eg Live and Let Die). TBH This is why I find it hard to listen to any of his recent live albums. That aside, when you're at the gig it's somehow not as noticable. (Maybe it's all the folk round about you singing!!). I got a programme. I thought £10 was very reasonable. Anybody spot the mistake about Glasgow in it. (I don't recall him ever playing the Barrowlands) We were in row R of AA7. My son who's a tall 8 had a real struggle seeing the gig. He was too small to see behind everyone, but when we stood him up on his chair he was too tall and blocked the view of the folk behind us. In the end my wife and I had to take turns perching him precariously on the seats in front of us and leaning him back onto us so he was the same height as a normal adult. By the end of the gig the two of us were knackered. To be honest I didn't see the point of folk getting up off their seats to just stand (ie not dancing). There were A LOT of folk with kids/older people round about us who had paid good money for 'good' seating tickets who weren't at all happy with the situation. A kid just along from us was arguing with his folks that he wanted to go home as watching the screens was no better than watching tv. Anyway, that's my take on things. Hope everyone enjoyed the night. Hopefully Paul will be back in Glasgow again. Got a funny feeling this will be the last time though. Chris

Let em' in was a hidden gem thrown in Seeing my idol live is something that will stay with me forever and there is someting unique about the whole experience. For those 3 hours on sunday I actually forgot i had a broken arm!!!

I just want to add to all the posts about what a great gig it was - me, my wife and my 7-year-old daughter all agreed that it was absolutely amazing! It was the sixth time I've seen him and definitely the best. We were in Block AA7, in the centre of row N and had a great view, right in front of Paul, 14 rows back. Everyone in our block stood for the entire concert - I was worried that my daughter wouldn't be able to see, but we lifted her up for most of it (my arms were tired the next day!!!) and she stood on her seat for a while, so she got a great view for the whole thing. I loved all the Wings stuff that I hadn't heard him do before, like Rockshow, 1985, Mrs Vandebilt and of course Mull of Kintyre, plus there were a few Beatles ones that I hadn't seen him play, such as Obladi Oblada, I've Got A Feeling and Day Tripper. And the two Electric Argument songs are really good as well. All in all, a fantastic set! I'm enjoying reading everyone's reviews and seeing the pics and the videos - keep 'em coming!! And someone said that they held their Paul cushion up and it was on the big screen - well I saw that on the screens loads of times and it was there for ages at the end of Hey Jude. Well done to you!!!! The whole vibe before, during and after the show was reall good-natured. There was a long queue for trains but it was all very orderly. Our train back into Glasgow broke down for a while and someone started singing (very badly!) some random Beatles tunes, and everyone joined in. It was a great atmosphere. We ended up singing all the way back to Glasgow and the bad singer got several well-earned rounds of applause! An absolutely brilliant concert and a lovely couple of days in Glasgow with lots of sunshine - couldn't have asked for any more!

From what I've heard so far, the time off prior to this show gave his chops ample time to get back to peak form! Go, Paulie!
some say it would be great if they release a DVD of this... well his singing is a lot better than in GENYC, almost perfect. And the crowd was so enthusiastic... The last song, after 2 hours and a half singing in the concert and one more in the soundcheck, was Sgt Pepper/The End... and he didn't struggle at all it's just sounded like the recording of Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper's... now, I don't know no (famous) singer today that can do this... I mean finishing the show not losing any voice quality. Elvis got to this sometimes, Mariah Carey too... at some point of their careers... I think it's really moving to see Paul doing that at 68. It just proves you can sing rock and roll for a lifetime. (at least he can :lol

Got back from Glasgow last night. Have had a brilliant weekend. Revolver were outstanding on Friday evening at Maggie Mays. Weather was beautiful. Perfect for Sunday evening & Paul was as usual just outstanding. The Scots loved him. People around me were shedding tears when he did Mull. All to do again this Saturday at Cardiff Sue

Glad you all enjoyed the show. I saw you and your wife and daughter. We were a couple of rows back but right behind you. We were jealous at how petite your daughter was and how easy you were holding her up as opposed to how we were struggling with our big lump of a son!! Amazing to think there was only a year between them!! Needless to say though despite everything, he had a great time and couldn't wait to take his ticket into school yesterday to show off to his teacher and friends. Chris
