[quote="lazydynamite88] didnt he play a gig in holland quite recently? infact from where i live in england it is much much cheaper and quicker to get to 'amsterdam' than to get to 'wales, scotland and london'! travelling around the UK can be mega expensive! - He played in Holland in Dec. That was actually my first gig. Since there aren't any mainland dates confirmed yet, I decided to go to the UK to make sure I do catch him this year. It's freaking cheap to fly to the UK these days. I actually have an 'expensive' ticket, Amsterdam-Glasgow, taxes included, ? 250,00. KLM is the only airline that flies directly from A'dam to Glasgow. Yeah, found out myself that trains are expensive in the UK. But I think they're even more expensive over here, it's insane. And service is lousy. I do hope to catch some of you before/after the gig. Going there by myself, would be cool to meet some fellow fans.

Thats not surprising...he has a gig a week before and then not another one for the week after so I'm thinking he'll kick about in these parts for a few days

I need your help. Is Hampden Park far from the center of Glasgow ? Can we go easily to the stadium and come back from the stadium the day of the concert ? Special bus that day ? Can we go to Hampden park by the subway ? I have found a map on the web but I cannot have any indications about the distances. I think I have understood that Hampden Park was in the south of the town. Is it right ? Thanks to provide all informations to find a well located hotel.

Hampden is quite far from Glasgow city centre and your best bet for travelling there would be train. If you stayed in a hotel in the city centre, you could take the train from Glasgow Central station to Mount Florida which is on the Southside, and that's where you would get off for Hampden Park. The park itself is about 10-15 minutes walking distance from Mount Florida and if you were to follow the crowd you would make it alright. The train journey from Central isn't long, around half an hour if I remember right. There's no subway to Hampden that I'm aware of. There are buses, or a bus that I know of, but I wouldn't rely on them for something like this since they're quite infrequent. As for special buses to take people there that day, that's something you're unlikely to find out until nearer the gig date. As for travelling the day of the concert, I'm sure you would be able to get to Mount Florida and back without too much bother. The only thing is queues at Glasgow Central, since many people will be using the train to get there; I would advise leaving in good time. I went to see the band u2 at Hampden last August and the queue was right out of the station and along one of the Glasgow main streets. There were regular trains though, so we still got there in time for the show starting. As long as Paul finishes up on time which I'm sure he will, you will be able to take the train back again to Glasgow Central and return to the city centre. Hampden is actually across the river from the city centre, on the Southside, so yep you're right it's in the South. Let me know if you need any more help.

Glad you got to that answer before me...hehe thats pretty sound advice. Its pretty straight forward to get to and from the city centre, I've done it occasionally for the football. The only other thing about this is the end of the night there will be a massive queue and it may take some time to get onto a train, but their tends to be police there to control that.

Well i dont know how much this'll help anyone, but this is how far the central station is from Hampden Park. It'll give you a general idea of distances involved... Here's the route by foot (takes about 56 mins) and here's the route by car (takes about 13 mins) Josh

I advice you all not to drive there...take the train. There wont be that much parking available and it can be a major nightmare getting out at the end, just get the train or the bus

hotel booked. Thanks to all for your very helpfull informations and quick answers. I have chosen one near the Central station. I don't worry because "too many people" will take the train to go to Hampden Park. In France it could be a nightmare but with the British discipline, I am quite confident that everything will go well. I knew that in Liverpool in 2008. When I saw the queue in the center of the town to take the special buses to go to Anfield, I thought that I would never arrive in time for the concert but in fact it didn' t take a long time. And in case of problem, "only" about 50 mn by foot. DCBeatle64, what did you think of the French queue to get your Olympia's tickets in Paris ?

ha ah yes we are very good at queues in the UK Paris was mental for queuing. I got there about 6pm the night before and all I knew was there were quite a few people who jumped in but it wasnt to bad, Had a lot of fun in that queue. Loads of people playing ukes and singing and everyone was lovely even though I spoke very little French. Was freezing though then got my ticket whever they started selling and got back in queue again so I could get close to the front. Only probably was when Paul's car came passed everyone pushed in so there were a lot of people who ended it front of me so I did something I dont really do in life and skipped towards the front ops: but if everyone else is doing it then figured I may as well join them. Great gig though the floor bounced. I dont think Hampden is gonna top that. Now if there werent seats it may well have done

Whenever there's something big on at Hampden (and the weather is not too bad) you'll always get a few folk doing the walk from the centre of Glasgow. When the UEFA cup final was there a couple of years ago it was like a mass exodus!

Now the general sale is on, I see ticketmaster have the 'Platinum' tickets for Hampden available. If you want front row seats in the front central section AA7 it'll set you back a cool £900.03 per ticket!! Chris

That should include sound check and extensive hospitality so read the full package details. They are also listed directly from the package provider Event Travel: http://www.eventtravel.com/paul-mccartney-tickets-2010?agentCodeWeblink=AF2074 Martin

No you're right. The Platinum seats are front row block AA7 being sold "as is" at that premium price without hospitality. I'd rather do the hospitality Hot Sound, - sound check plus all the hospitaility extra's and sit a row or two back for the same price. But you pays your money and takes your choice..... Martin
