heather bells:
Heard Elvis Costello's name being branded about as coming to Hampden today. That would do nicely instead of the Texas wifey.
That would be ace but I doubt it, he's playing london royal festival hall that day

i shall not be rushing to the gig early then. i wouldnt have minded some nonesense or even some ambient music . but i aint going to watch that chick from texas. lightweight middle of the road garbbage.
I am surprised that is who he is going with...the other cities hes gone with more interesting bands

The issue regarding the standing debate. It depends how many get standing, how many move forward and where they move forward from. A big factor is how much security they have, where they have them positioned and what their role is regarding the moving forward to the pit area, you'll just have to judge it when you get there really. In Dublin the front row was about 2 or 3 standing rows away from the pit barrier and there was little security to remove the surge forward so I dont think they were that bothered...to be honest I think Paul prefers most the time to have people right up close to him but I have heard of other venues ensuring this doesnt happen and if they dont want you up there then they can stop you.

Aw, I was fair looking forward to that too. I'm sure Sharleen will have to do as a warm up. 7 more sleeps. Can't wait. It's gonna be a great night.

Sharleen`s a family friend, so it`s no surprise really. (Elvis Costello isn`t Scottish! ).

Texas were OK in their formative years 20 years back. Got a bit poppy later on though to sustain their chart presence. I think MOR is a good term for them overall. I've not heard a lot of Sharleen's recent solo stuff, but again, what I have heard is MOR. She has a good homegrown following though, so it might sell a few more tickets to those folk who were swithering whether to go or not. I'll certainly be there to see her and hope she sings some Texas tunes. Chris

I quite like her, not heard any of her solo stuff but if she plays some Texas tunes, I'll be happy indeed. Don't really understand the dislike for her, and obviously you don't have to show up for the support but the main event, which will be Mr. McCartney himself. Anyone any idea (roughly) what time she'll be on? I was thinking probably around half 6, 7. Can't believe it's only a week away!

I'm torn over the sitting/standing debate. I love standing gigs and don't think twice about squeezing my way to the front and jumping about like a looney. Trouble is now I've got an 8 year old boy who wants to see Macca. Before we knew what the standing/seating arrangements were going to be I was deliberating 'Do my wife and I get standing tickets and REALLY enjoy ourselves, or do we get seating tickets to let our boy see the concert'. Kids under 14 aren't allowed in the standing section at Hampden concerts. When the concert was announced as all seating I said 'fair enough, he's going' and got 3 tickets in row R of AA7 on the pitch. Trouble is though, I don't know how high the stage is going to be. If everybody starts standing will my boy be able to see anything? Will he have to resort to perching on a chair in his tiptoes for 2 hours and end up having a miserable time? Not really fair is it? Chris

concerts arent fair either way, people pay a lot of money and those who want to stand that dont get to end up disapointed, people who want to sit but people stand in front of them are left standing, in my eyes you should have a good dance and a love at a concert like Paul's but there is always someone left disapointed, but there are big screens up so I'd imagine you'd be able to say something...sure as hell will be able to hear it

[quote="SayJayyx3"]Cardiff gets the Manics and we get Sharleen Spiteri?? You have got to be kidding me. roll? My thoughts exactly. Still the announcement of the support act has guaranteed an extra half-hour of my time at the bar! D Seriously though, does he need a support act. Didn't have one in the monsoon that was Leipzig in 2004 and to date, that has been the best gig of my life!

Hey folks, guess what?! The very next show Paul does....IS OUR SHOW Josh
-
Sharleens latest album is cover versions of songs from movies such as Xanadu & Cat People. I dont mind her but i dont think she's enough to prise me from the bar
-
I'm so excited, more so now the tickets have finally arrived. Not so bothered about the support but at least it'll keep my 9 yr old son entertained during the waiting around lol
-
6 days to go!! And I finally heard from Event Travel that I will NOT receive my ticket for the gig by mail but I will receive my ticket for the evening at the soundcheck. It only took me 3 mails to get that cleared up, no idea why they couldn't tell me sooner. Details of the soundcheck will be send by e-mail. I guess then we finally know what time everything starts.
-
Only 6 days left. Need to get my poster hat on, and get this thing made on time! Are people still up for singing 'Happy Birthday'? I hear the Dublin crowd done the same thing, but the actual date is closer to the Hampden concert, I think he would still enjoy it.

The weather should be fine on Sunday. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/maps/forecastmaps?LANG=en&UP=0&R=0&MORE=0&DAY=6&MAPS=over&CONT=ukuk&LAND=SCO&TOFD=tag Who will walk from the center of Glasgow to Hampden Park ? No new information about my ticket : "come back later" again and again.
-
What time approximately will the soundcheck be going on? Because if he's going to be playing the likes of Ram On and You Never Give Me Your Money, then I am planning on loitering.

whats all the debate about standing or seating, its an all seated gig is it not lol ? but if you want to stand you can lol. il be standing for most of it probaly
