I became a McCartney fan back in 1980 after hearing Coming Up. I admit, I taped it off the radio and played it over and over. However, at the time I had no idea what the song was called. After a while I decided to write down the words to some of my favourite songs (I must point out I was only 11 at the time) and ops: how embarrasing is this - I thought [Coming Up] was a made up word so I scribbled down 'Domie Aime' thinking it may be in a foreign language or something. I even went around singing it like that until I bought the album. Anyone else had an experience like this they'd care to admit?

I never got the words to a song wrong but I used to think I Feel Fine was called She Said So....so I went around asking everyone if they had heard of the song She Said So (and of course no one had) ops:

Listen the opening line of " With a little luck" with your headphones on

"All those moments will be lost... like tears in rain"

Until recently, I thought the line from "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" was: "LITTLE little be a gypsy, get around Get your feet up off the ground LITTLE little, get around" When it was really: "Live a little be a gypsy, get around Get your feet up off the ground Live a little, get around"

Actually I had my own 'With a Little Luck' misheard lyric...for some reason (and yeah, I know it makes no sense ops: ) I though 'inclement weather' was 'clever weather' ops: Also, before Tug Of War was released but the promotions for it were already in full swing, I thought the radio was saying 'Tiger War' ops:

The Willow turns his back on inclement weather

Until I actually read the lyrics, I was convinced that Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey was Haaaaave a cup of water (water), haaaaave a cup of tea

The Bee Gees "More than a Woman" I thought they were saying 4-Letter Woman!! I was little at the time and I didn't know what a 4 letter woman was.

First few times i heard Tug of war, i thought in the chorus where Paul and Linda were singing "Bull****, " instead of "Pushing" Wasn't until I read the lyrics on the back of the album that i realised my mistake! What about the first line of With a little luck ??

All of the above are so funny! In "Hi Hi Hi": I used to think Paul was singing "Get you ready for my bodyguard" instead of "polygon". In "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey": I thought he was singing "He had to have a bath or he couldn't get to sleep" instead of "He had to have a berth or he couldn't get to sea." And I thought it was "The butter, it melts so torrid in the pie" instead of "The butter wouldn't melt so I put it in the pie."

Nowords - you got a good sense of humour In James Blunt song Your Beautiful (which I hate) apparently on the album he changes the line "she could see that I was flying high" to the line "she could see that I was f***king high".

[quote="Tangled Beretta"] In "Hi Hi Hi": I used to think Paul was singing "Get you ready for my bodyguard" instead of "polygon". Yes, I STILL sing - 'Get you ready for my body gong' (whatever that means - I'd kinda made up my own meaning but here's not the place to explain - but I was ready for it ). Just having a quick look at some lyrics on the web. I know they're not always correct, but I've just found out that in Old Siam Sir, where the words are 'Took her rushes to show this man, Sir', I've been singing 'Took her Rochester Show, this man, Sir' (thinking that Walthamstow, Scarborough and the Old East Ham were mentioned, so why not Rochester)! I better give up checking - ignorance is bliss!

Just been looking at the lyrics posted up on various web sites. Where do they get their info? In what version of Rockestra Theme do they sing 'With a bird in the hand he says: why no dinner'? It doesn't even fit with the tune! And I thought Domie Aime was bad!

For Tom Petty, my daughter always thought he was singing "running down a drain", not "running down a dream" And I must confess that the first few times I heard Baba O'Riley I thought Roger was singing "the exorcist is here" not "the exodus is here"
