I thought for ages that in "Jet", Paul was singing "I'll mate her", rather than "ah Mater"!! ops:

Haha. I much prefer 'body gun' to 'polygon' in "Hi Hi Hi"... I can't really think of any Paul lyrics I've gotten wrong. But I tend to just sing along my own lyrics to songs anyway depending on what I think they're saying, half of them are probably wrong.

Here's one I remember: BAD MOON RISING - CCR song lyric: There's a bad moon on the rise my lyric: There's a bathroom on the right :
You're not the only one! My siblings and I thought the same thing! Also, in Michelle, I thought the (French?) bit was saying "Someday monkey won't play piano song, play piano song." And evidently, I'm not the only one...

Bang On The Drum All Day I don't want to work. I just want to bang and get drunk all day. Correct lyric: I don't want to work. I just want to bang on the drum all day.

I became a McCartney fan back in 1980 after hearing Coming Up. I admit, I taped it off the radio and played it over and over. However, at the time I had no idea what the song was called. After a while I decided to write down the words to some of my favourite songs (I must point out I was only 11 at the time) and ops: how embarrasing is this - I thought [Coming Up] was a made up word so I scribbled down 'Domie Aime' thinking it may be in a foreign language or something. I even went around singing it like that until I bought the album. Anyone else had an experience like this they'd care to admit?
Yeah, I had that experience long time ago. In I Am The Walrus I was thinking John was singing "Dead bonzay" but he was singing "Dead Dog's Eye". But not only with The Beatles, also with other entertainers I had that experience. I also had this experience with an Elvis-recording. I was thinking the lyrics of Jailhouse Rock was "The band was Joe Banani Joe began to sing" but in fact it was "The band was jumping and the joint began to swing."
-
In the Beatles's song, 'Dig a Pony', I thought the line was "Everything has gone to pieces like you want it to" When in fact John sang: "Eveything is going to be just like you want it to."

Funnily enough my cousin has written a book on this very subject, see below! US http://www.amazon.com/Scuse-While-Kiss-This-Guy/dp/0671501283 UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scuse-ME-While-Kiss-This/dp/0671501283/ref=sr_1_1/277-3814693-8251465?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1280822020&sr=8-1

OMG, I thought it was "Scuze me while I kiss this guy!" What is it really? Maybe kiss the sky? The book looks fun. I'd happily read it from the library or something I probably wouldn't fork out to buy it. For Paul's "Hope of Deliverance" my kids hear and sing "Vote on the Liberals," now I hear it too. They think a political party should rent the rights to it.

You May Be Right by Billy Joel You made the rice, I made the gravy, But it just may be some tuna fish you're lookin for Correct lyrics: You may be right, I may be crazy But it just may be some lunatci you're lookin for

When I first listened to Feet In The Clouds I always thought it was: "Love is fab it's like a scavenger hunt, a hidden treasure made to measure for my pleasure" but it's "stab in the heart" of course.
-
Myyoung niece, a relatively new Beatles fan, recently asked me what a bunion was. After I told her, she asked me why John was singing about a cat's bunion. Turns out she was talking about Glass Onion! I thought it was great: I could actually see John using that in a lyric!
-
Best Friend by Nilsson People let me tell you 'bout my bedspread Correct lyric: People let me tell you 'bout my best friend
-
In Cream's White Room, When I was very young, I thought it said "In a white room with black cousins" instead of "curtains"
-
The Times They Are A Changin' by Bob Dylan "if your time to you is worth savin' " Correct: The times they are a changin'

When I first heard Tug of war I thought when they were saying pushing, that they were saying prochaine (french for future/ next) So I thought oh that's really clever as the songs all about the future. But then I listened to it again and went oh it's pushing.
