One Hand Clapping
-
Hi, I would like to know when the sessions for the Wings' documentary "One Hand Clapping" actually took place. August or fall 1974? This because there is discrepancy between a number of sources, official too. Thanks

Certainly all the sources I have seen point to August 1974, with at least a couple narrowing the date down further to that of Thursday 15th August. Of interest, the date of Monday 9th September has been given for the cutting of a six track acetate for a proposed 'Wings LIve In The Studio' EP. The songs from the One Hand Clapping sessions to have been used were: Jet, Let Me Roll It, Juniors Farm, My Love, Little-Woman-Love / C Moon / Little-Woman-Love (medley) & Maybe I'm Amazed. Assuming this date/info is correct then at least we know that the OHC sessions could not have been filmed/recorded any later than 9th September.

The 'Backyard' tape was recorded on Saturday 24 August 1974. The studio 'One Hand Clapping' songs on 27, 28 and 30 August 1974.

Thank you for the answers. I'm puzzled 'cause even the credits for the bonus audio in the Venus and Mars Archive Collection state "Soily" (from One Hand Clapping) recorded on 9th October 1974 and "Babyface" (from One Hand Clapping) recorded in November 1974. :

nobodytoldme:
The studio 'One Hand Clapping' songs on 27, 28 and 30 August 1974.
Three days does sound more realistic as 40 hours of filming was supposed to have taken place for the film.

I'm agree. The book "Eight Arms To Hold You" states : "The sessions took place over four days in late August 1974" and places the date of the six-songs acetate on September 30,1974. Well, but what about the dates in the Venus and Mars Archive Collection's bonus audio credits? Is it likely a blunder?

You wouldn't have thought so but I suspect that's actually the case. When Linda's solo album was released, it was riddled with incorrect recording date info.

Ah! I'll come to terms with it... Sincere thanks for the informations.

In effect I've noticed that also the credits for "Country Dreamer"(from One Hand Clapping) on the Band On The Run Archive Collection Deluxe Edition's bonus audio CD are incorret: the performance is a Paul's guitar/voice only number, most likely (if not certainly) originate from "The Backyard" session.

Although 'Country Dreamer' does originate from 'The Backyard' film, as it was always intended to be part of 'One Hand Clapping' (even though it wasn't used in the end),I suppose being charitable it could be said that the BOTR credit is kind of correct.

Well, you're right, it's all in all acceptable...
