There were a few comments saying that "Appreciate" was actually played at soundcheck. Anyone here know when (location / date) it was performed? My guess would be sometime before the cancelled 2014 Japanese tour, where it was rumored to be added to the setlist. Thank you.

It was performed at a private rehearsal in Santiago on April 22, 2014. No soundcheck packages were offered for that one.

Sorry, I don't remember anymore... I think "Martha My Dear" was briefly rehearsed as well, but I'm not sure.

Could have been...I'm sure Paul was looking to add "new stuff" on their second trip to Japan in less than a year.

It would be nice to have a catalog of all the known soundcheck setlists. The "setlist" web site only lists full concerts.

There was a book released around 2000 called "Eight Arms To Hold You", which contained that information along with just about everything else you needed to know about John, Paul, George and Ringo. I actually contacted one of the authors recently asking them to please consider an updated version. They have a book coming out shortly about John only.

No audio leaked to the underworld, I presume?

It was first rehearsed "in public" a day before Paul cancel the Japan 2014 Tour, during a rehearsal, only a few seconds (of audio) were captured on amateur video from a fan outside the stadium arriving at that time. (sadly, at the end of the song) It does circulates among collectors.

Great book! sadly NOT all in there is correct (many non actual facts and mistakes during the 'McCartney Concerts' section, with incomplete or incorrect soundcheck list, or wrong info on some entries), still a GREAT book to have.

Any chance that audio could circulate toward this thread?

"When you're left for dead in the middle of a crisis, you must appreciate the day" Great sentiments and inspiration in that line. Quite helpful. A reminder to love life and what it brings, no matter what. Expresses his deep optimist leanings and spreads the love.

I've yet to hear Appreciate...and as of now I don't know anyone else who's heard it. Is it really circulating?

I agree...some of the most desired songs to hear, have been played only at a soundcheck!

I would certainly enjoy hearing Appreciate live! It looked like he was thinking about doing it in Japan in May 2014 (he did rehearse it in Chile a few weeks earlier) when the album was still fairly recent. He even arrived at the airport with the big robot Newman. But then he got ill and by the time he returned to Japan in 2015 maybe he thought the right opportunity had passed? Another example: right now he's doing FourFiveSeconds live while it's still a "new" song, but I doubt he will keep it in the setlist next year. I wish he would, as I would like to hear it.

Indeed! He did bring a small robot onstage during the 1979 tour, but this one would have been more interesting, as the people controlling the robot would have been able to make it walk across the stage and maybe even interact with Paul. He can still do it next year in other countries. It would certainly be something new to try in his next world tour.
