Just being listening to two tracks he gave to others to sing & do I wish we had a full version of Paul singing them, they are great songs. First Lets Love, I know he sings it on the One Hand Clapping prog ( I think ) but a full version would be great. Second song Fourth Of July, what a great song, it's the likes of this that i hope when a rarities box set comes out it will have a Macca version. Also Mine For Me ain't bad either or Pure Gold.

I was saddened to learn that All Together now was considered a throwaway song by Paul that he just threw at the Yellow Submarine movie. I found it to be a work of genius of childlike sounding but yet with enough humorous adult references plus just great fun. Granted, I first heard it not sung by the Beatles but by my ex-husband and our friends on a very long carride with no radio so we had a sing-along in the car. It made me realize that sometimes Paul underestimates his own work.

I agree he does have trouble separating the wheat from the chaff sometimes, the songs I listed are all around the mid-70's & they are far better than some of the album tracks he was including at the time. I realise that he probably never intended to release these songs himself as i'm sure he wrote them with the artist's that sung them in mind, shame though, they are great songs.

I'd rather a compilation of these tracks come out than a standards album !

So Paul has wrote some classic songs for others. What a cracking album we could have if he released his own versions of these songs. Also it would be great if the songs from speed of sound that have the other Wings members doing lead vocal are released with Paul doing the lead vocal

I would like to hear him do "Woman" which he gave to Peter & Gordon. (interesting that both he and John wrote a song with the same name, 15 years apart)

When was the last time Macca gave a song away? With his voice getting weaker nowadays it would make sense for him to write more songs for other people, but he seems to do so less than he used to as far as I can tell. Am I wrong? Wouldn't it be good for him to write songs for established artists or, even better, up-and-coming artists/vocalists? As he gets properly old in the years to come this would seem to make more and more sense for a songwriter with his talents. Thoughts?

It would make sense, but at least Paul's voice is good enough to sing the songs still himself. Maybe not his live-voice anymore, but in studio it still sounds great to me. As long as he can sing, he should sing the songs, maybe later in five years or so he can give some of the songs to younger artists.

I'm going to keep beating this drum, but "Goodbye," Paul's version, has got to be one of the most gorgeous songs and vocals I've ever heard. Hands down. Or one hand clapping.

"Goodbye" should have been on the McCartney album. Thematically & musically, it fits as the album closer!

                          (to both) beautiful song

It was given to Mary Hopkins, so it's possible it's a licensing issue? Also, no other songs the guys gave away appear on the Anthology, so maybe they wanted to focus just on Beatle songs?
