The Song Everyone Loves........But You .

Bruce M.:
"Back Seat of My Car" -- Somewhere, buried under the unintentionally hilarious production and more false climaxes than a $1,000 hooker, there's the germ of a decent little song. As recorded, it's self-parody. The medley on "Red Rose Speedway" -- Paul channels Bobby Sherman with disturbing accuracy.
"Back Seat Of My Car" seems like it was supposed to be a "tribute" to Brian Wilson style harmonies that unfortunately failed.
Bobby Sherman...Now, there's a name I haven't heard since the heyday of the Archies.

Yeah, they probably think the same thing about Picasso too : and while I'm on the roll Kandinsky, Miro, Klee, Kossoff, Auerbach, Freud, O'Keefe, DeKooning, Bacon, Matisse, Magritte, Modigliani, Dali, Twombly, Greaves etc. Paul's art could hang in any museum that these artists have and it's sad that not that many people even appreciate that!!! : As a matter of fact, I wish he would put his art in a museum such as the Tate Modern or MOMA... they deserve to be there... I hope he has them up somewhere... they are very beautiful!!!!!

Just like my favorites, my least favorites change from time to time, but right now, I can do without The Long and Winding Road, My Love, Let It Be. Sorry to pick on "classics", but... (Just for the record, speaking of "classics", I've never particularly cared for John's Imagine, either!)

Well, Thisbe211, you're clearly going to Hell. Seriously, no accounting for taste. The only pick of yours I semi-agree with is My Love, which has always struck me as just okay.

Ebony and Ivory. I know people on here will agree with me. I'm mixed so I appreciate the message of the song, I just can't stomach how sappy it is! Other than that, I go through phases with songs. Let Em In doesn't do much for me, but it's still fun every now and then. Can't really think of any others that I've never liked. There's definitely songs that are skipworthy (especially in the 80's and 90's), but none that "everybody loves".

I'll follow the sun. I cant stand that song and I actually had forgotten about it until seeing the Beatles desert Island disc thread and Lazydynamite putting that song on his list

I agree with you, how he can have that lame little song on his list is beyond belief. "For tomorrow may rain so i'll, kick him up the bum."
-
oh it does make me cringe at least its off his setlist now, considering its a short song I got so damned bored of it
-
I think that is a nice little song! ^^

Still, we must acknowledge that Paul and Stevie's recent White House performance of "Ebony & Ivory" restored the song's integrity, though. An unexpected highlight for me:
-
yuk...no...I don't care for any of his duos actually. Some are catchy but still...no.

Heard about that but hadn't seen it yet! Probably because I don't care for the song too much. Seeing them do it together live was definitely thrilling. The song though is still not one of my favorites though... On another note (ha), I think that Paul's voice here is amazing! This song isn't unbelievably high, but it's definitely up there and he's hitting them all!

It's funny because I do like that song...but Paul's little goofing around in 2005 (started in 2004 in Europe, but I wasn't there) with the repeated endings kinda zapped a little something from it (for my own enjoyment anyway )

I'm with Audi on that. I actually got choked up watching it.

C Moon its supposed to be the opposite of being square. The song was a hit,Paul should have speed it up and make it a fun song.

'ill follow the sun' is brilliant . whats wrong with you lot : and come on 'ebony and ivory' is not a valid choice really. i would say 90% of the human population that are aware of that song cant stand it! actually im going to put forward 'too many people' everyones goes weak at the knees on here when its mentioned and to me its only 'alright'!

i can handle the original record although its a definite 'b side'. however listening to him try and sing it these days whilst pretending its a 'reggae' song and bringing out his fake white man 'rasta' stick a thumb up 'stings' arse voice is pretty devastating to my ears!
