from Beatlefan..Billboard reports that McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom" looks likely to crack next week's album Top 10 with 70,000 in sales. # 6
I wonder how many of those sales are from people buying the 'anti' deluxe version and subsequently the deluxe version with 16 tracks on it....Don't know how returned merchandise is calculated into this chart related equation

Anything less than #1 is unacceptable for a great Mccartney album!!

Here's the link to the BBC UK Album charts - considered the leading chart reporting system here in the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/albums It has KOTB at number 3 in the mid-week interim chart published the day after the official release. Check that tomorrow evening to see the result of the first whole week sales. Martin

Life's tough. Paul hasn't had a #1 U.S. album since Tug of War. It is (and always was) the younger artists who sell in the biggest volume. As for Paul vs. Rod, Stewart took a much more nakedly commercial approach. KOTB makes no effort to be an album for the masses. It won't be my favorite Paul album by any means, but it's classy. I'll take that over Rod's commercial crap anyday.
-
I think Rod's CD's were aimed at a Female Base...alot of his fans of the Shitty "Hollywood Years" are girls....He stopped making cool Rock records around Mid 70's... Paul has a Fans ALL ages...and he still makes great Pop and Rock albums...yes, this CD of Paul's was a BIG risk...it's not my kind of music, but it's done really well , pure CLASS and Cool ...Paul likes doing something NEW all the time....I say THUMBS UP!!!..well done... ..I like the fact he stills takes that Risk..(even if I may not like it)
-
Rod did it as a gimmick. Paul did it because he's always been a nerd for that stuff. Even in his 20s, doing intentional throwback cornball stuff like "When I'm 64," I'm sure alot of the same audience of his generation just didn't get him and his "granny music." Certainly all those damn rock journalists and critics loved to rag on Macca for that aspect. :
-
A gimmick is one CD ...a career is 4 or 5 or 6....how many did he do?

could it be the media supporting the younger artists?

it will start dropping next week, he needed the album to enter the charts at No1. the days of slow climbs to the top of the charts are long gone. even if it was to squeeze a few more sales, the album will more than likely be up against something from Whitney Houston next week!!

Considering she's just (sadly) died expect a hell of a lot of people buying her albums at once.

Paul can buy his own albums and reach number one he has the money,as for Whitney Huston she died yesterday,we have to wait for a couple of weeks for her first tribute album or not?
-
No. 3 is terrific. Happy for him. In the US, KOTB is supposed to be about No. 5. But there's no telling how the Whitney factor will affect the charts.

The ONE you were suppose to get would have made all the difference
