And now the time is near....

It is so obvious that all are comments in this thread and others re. Paul's performances are out of our love for Paul. I'm glad to see people are realizing that.
dont count yer chickens. there is a whole army accross the pond that will gladly praise his voice no matter what..these types are obviously not exclusive to this forum as i have to take it as FACT that mccartney in real life surrounds himself with too many sycophants. how else can you possibly explain the reappearance of 'maybe im amazed' in his set list....mccartney actually believes he still got the ability to sing it and no one is telling him otherwise. its a scary thought that someone so brilliant as paul can be so far off the mark with his judgment.
OK LAZY...you are stepping onto shaky ground here!! I can't overlook this slur... so you need to apologize firstly!! I really see the difference in our differing views as social norms. Let me ask if I understand this...As Thisbe211 says that in England you love Paul and therefore you feel he is embarrassing himself and because you love him, you want him to not play concerts anymore because you feel it is embarrassing? ops: Is that right?! Over here on our side of the pond, I think we don't worry very much if we embarrass ourselves. It's more like: If you don't want to listen to me, that's your problem, your hang up, your set of rules. If you don't like how I am/sound, don't listen then!! Don't you think that people make judgements based on thinking that everyone thinks the same as they do? But you see, customs are very different all over the world... If you can try to just relax a bit and just let other people make their own decisions for themselves. It may not be what you would choose, but everyone should get to make their own choices in life. When to sing, when to retire, when to do whatever makes them happy!! You can only control yourself, and you only get the choice over yourself. It may not be what is right for someone else, but it is their choice to choose for themselves. Maybe you are afraid to try venturesome things, but many people may be more venturesome than you are! We're all different, but all connected as humans. Just relax and let it be. What a relief to not have to make other peoples choices, really... Ever notice how your kids don't even like the choices you make for them sometimes... and they're just kids. When we're adults, ahhhh the relief that we don't have to listen anymore, to how we don't want to do something!!! Just my own opinion on the subject. Maybe Paul could sing a bit each day to keep his voice limber, I know mine really goes if I don't do that... not that mine is anywhere near Paul's lol... still it's a thought Peace Brother! Cheers! Oh and I just want to point out how many people are still paying good money to hear Paul, so adding that up, it's hundreds of thousands of people who are happy to hear him sing just as he is now!!
What, slur?? And I certainly ain't gonna be apologising for offering a pretty accurate personal opinion.im surprised at this post directed at me .but hey I'm getting thick skin. And by the way people will pay good money to see our paulie even if he ends up sounding like bob Dylan....that's what I'm worried about
Lazy I only directed this towards you because you have offended me in the past with your generalizations about Americans, and has been a repeated topic for you. There are almost 314 million of us, so to paint us all with one brush is beyond imagination. I'm a bit sensitive about this because the last time I was in England, there was a lot of American bashing going on, something every day, really... so I would appreciate it if you could refrain from future remarks directed towards Americans or any other group for that matter! Thanks!

PAUL , if you ever read these posts..I ,like many here, want only what is best for you! Take care of yourself..if you should retire..I won't hold it against you..enjoy the time you have. PEACE..give it a chance!!!!
Hi Liverpoolbride... so good to see you again! So sorry to hear about Liverpool groom. Sending you two prayers. I agree with you, I only want what's best for Paul!! He has said over and over that he doesn't want to quit playing. I don't know why some people keep trying to force their own will on him. I hope he has thick skin too and does whatever the heck he wants to do!! Whatever that is!!

i remember 5/6 years ago on a radio interview the DJ stated to paul that his voice [talking] had got alot deeper/lower ...paul actually seemed to get quite sharp/annoyed and totally dismissed the DJ's offering.

Martin Luther:
Isn't it possible he just had a bad night? Just a little hoarse, maybe a slight cold, not properly hydrated? I heard him last Summer 2011 in Detroit and he was amazing.
One of my friends was there. She and her husband heard his practice session b4 the concert and then was at the concert. She said the same thing. Amazing! Yes, my first impression of him at the Jubilee was what a shame he had a cold. Probably didn't get to practice much or check certain things as usual. What I admired about him that night at the Jubilee was even though he had to have known he'd missed a few notes, you could see the steely determination in his heart that he was happy to be there and wasn't going to let it bother him or ruin his night or anybody else's. To me, that is the mark of a true professional. It tells more about his character than getting up there, doing it perfectly, and then bowing egotistically thinking "I'm the best there is."

Today I spoke to a lovely chap at worked who is 64. He is a musician and played the local circuits in 70's and 80's and early 90's. He was a bass player and picked it up cos of Macca. One of his idols. Had not seen him since the jubilee concert until today. We always have a good chat about music and Macca. Today, unprompted, he said Macca has lost it, his voice has gone. He was awful. Not a good sign.
-
Oh, I know. I have to go through that every time Paul is on TV: the comments from people, even from my oldest, long-time Beatles Buddies. People who aren't quite as obsessed about Paul as I am, but have liked him for years. After the Grammies, they all said how terrible he sounded, how sad it was because, as one put it, he had a "voice from the angels" once.

Been listening to "Ram" lately, having just bought the reissue. And while I'll never be a huge fan of the album, it really is amazing what a voice he had back then. Sigh...

Maybe that's what's hard for people to get their head round. His voice was rediculously good back in the day, I mean the best and most versatile vocalist I've ever heard. People might just not want to admit that its not as good as it was. Just a thought. I would still say that I think his vocals overall were better for the jubilee than the grammies.
