Maybe that's what's hard for people to get their head round. His voice was rediculously good back in the day, I mean the best and most versatile vocalist I've ever heard. People might just not want to admit that its not as good as it was. Just a thought. I would still say that I think his vocals overall were better for the jubilee than the grammies.
however as a footnote it must be said that overall cowdenbeath are a better team than montrose

Even my Dad who not a big fan of Paul's commented on how his voice is getting weaker, personally I hope i'll get the chance to see him live again.

I remember the first time on record I noticed a bit of dip in vocals was Flowers In The Dirt on a couple of tracks, he seemed to recover nicely for Off The Ground & Flaming Pie. Driving Rain in parts vocally made me wince ( although he genuinely did have a cold when he did the bulk of the album), why did he not redo some vocals in the June recordings I dont know ? Chaos generally is good, as is MAF although half was done previous to Chaos, E A vocally is a mixed bag, which is pretty much what I would expect these days, however I Want To Come Home & My Valentine were good. Just hope some time & care has been put into the new tracks.

Today I spoke to a lovely chap at worked who is 64. He is a musician and played the local circuits in 70's and 80's and early 90's. He was a bass player and picked it up cos of Macca. One of his idols. Had not seen him since the jubilee concert until today. We always have a good chat about music and Macca. Today, unprompted, he said Macca has lost it, his voice has gone. He was awful. Not a good sign.
no you are just making all this stuff up because you are a mean negative naysayer anti fan please add one of the foolowing explanations/excuses a/.....paul had a cold b/......paul hadnt warmed up correctly c/......paul sounded brilliant when i saw him live in Big Bone Lick State Park, Kentucky last year! d/..... hes almost 71 e/.....dont go and see him then!
a/.....paul had a cold b/......paul hadnt warmed up correctly c/......paul sounded brilliant when i saw him live in Big Bone Lick State Park, Kentucky last year! d/..... hes almost 71 e/.....dont go and see him then! f/.....he doesn't drink enough fluids
It's funny cos it's true - they are the excuses people use!

And so it continues...... here are a couple of readers letters from today's Sun. "I loved the jubilee concert but please, cancel the invitation for Sir Paul McCartney to close the opening ceremony at the Olympics. He may have been ok in his time but his time is now up and I don't want to see another cringe-worthy performance with the world watching" "I was left stunned by Sir Paul McCartney's performance at the jubilee concert. I actually thought he was seriously ill, or had taken some sort of medication. he was just rambling. it was very sad"

no one got paid, its on the readers letters page, much worse has been said on here.
Even if they don't get paid they shouldn't be allowed to have that published. Whether your a fan or not the term ok can never be given to Paul McCartney.

hopefully once he gets this Olympic gig outta the way he will give these type of shows a miss, by doing them he is damaging a lifetime reputation.

There was some nasty stuff on Digital Spy. Usual stuff, hasn't done anything since Beatles, all he is known for is Frog Chorus. Yawn. : Saying he was very ill or rambling is just not right though (The Sun). He couldn't hit all the notes and his voice was croaky was the worst you could throw at him. Some might call that awful but he's not lost his marbles yet!! But then he doesn't help himself. If he hadn't done this concert people were being very, very positive about Ram. He didn't need the glory and the line up was rubbish. A big self kick up the a***!

The sad thing is I said "Yeah, I think he had a bit of a cold and always takes a few songs to warm up and he is almost 70 of course. When I saw him at the Albert Hall he was great" lol The point is, I was defensive and supportive of Paul, not admitting the truth. Now here amongst Macca friends I will say the truth, on the outside if someone offends family, I will stick up for them. I understand why some people on here turn into denial mode. I did it the other day to my work colleague, but here is where we should admit the truth, with family. Again, that is not to say the right songs and the experience of Paul live is still great.
