And now the time is near....
-
Now that we've cleared that up... ...how does that relate to vocal cord surgery?
-
audi you said.. "By the time Reg Strikes Back came out in the '88, the difference in his voice showed tremendous improvement." i was simply stating another famous case of tremendous improvment in 1988....thats all...although obviously the 'ben johnson' case of unexpected and ultimately drug induced improvement was obviously not famous enough for you
i hope its all cleared up now, like the little private rash you had last month
-
No wonder I didn't recall it: It's a sports reference. My interest in sports -- especially watching it -- is about as minimal as it gets. I played baseball for three years when I was younger, but I've never been into spending hours watching it on tv. I've never been one to fawn over athletes. Well, on second thought...

there is something that Paul should do and IMO there is nothing wrong with it ... someone like Elton John did it continuously all his life, probably other famous singers over 50 secretly did also.. so whats the problem? I wish Paul would do it.
I'm suggesting a medical solution here vocal chords surgery I don't see anything wrong with it ... this golden throat brought happiness to the world for 5 decades, how about to giving it a little care.
This sounds like a very reasonable idea , as long as it isn't too risky. I also just things he needs a bit of a rest right now...
If he really needed vocal chord surgery, he wouldn't be able to sing at all. I know a guy who plays John in a Beatles cover band who lost his voice during one of their shows and he had surgery for polyps and is fine now.
I sort of shudder at the thought of vocal cord surgery.
Anyway that's never useful, the problems always comeback unless you sing different than you've been singing. I mean singing with better technique
. It's kind of like if you give a voice a big rest, any strain will dissappear but if you start abusing it again the same problems will happen. Like happens to Elton... Adele has already had 2 vocal surgeries and in the last one the medicians told her this could be the last one she could do, she must fix her singing or forget about it. No "3rd vocal surgery" possible, I guess it's damaging. The problem is that singers that have received the surgery kind of 99 % of the times get back to singing the same way than before the surgery, so things happen again, only worse.

Adele is a very "throaty" singer, which could be her downfall. I heard she smokes, as well.

Vocal cord surgery is risky. Julie Andrews had surgery after damaging her vocal apparatus during the Broadway run of "Victor Victoria" and never got her singing voice back. Also, while surgery can address some problems, like nodes on your vocal cords, it can't undo the effects of age and natural wear and tear. No one sings at age 70 like they did at age 30, just like no one's face looks the same at 70 as it did at 30 (and surgery doesn't really turn back the clock -- if you doubt me, just look at the scary mask that is Joan Rivers' face these days). There is no magic bullet for this.

I agree & I believe the problem lies more with the fact that he THINKS he sounds like he did in 76 or whenever & he doesn't ! It's a strain to hit those notes, sustain those notes etc. And until he actually faces up to the fact that he is 70 ( vocally & looks ) the problem will not only remain but I fear get much worse to the point he will ruin his voice forever, I hope this will not be the case.

Did you hear him on the radio saying that the band and Paul were relieved they nailed the jubilee gig
Who's telling them this!? Or do they wear ear plugs while playing
He said they were going to do Coming Up but felt it wouldn't be well received. I think that would have really went down well. Great live track

In that case she'll most likely sound like Deirdre out of Coronation Street in a few years!

God, I seriously worry about Paul's set up at times. It's like the final days of a lot of great performers and athletes who in their doteage hang on the bleatings of the hangers-on whose only interest is keeping the golden goose laying those big shiney eggs. It's like when Paul goes on about not wanting to do a vocal warm-up backstage before a concert coz he feels self-conscious....
: .....a bit better to feel self conscious back stage in front of a your crew and a few assorted guests paying homage to the master than struggling and going butt over boob in front of one billion peole don't you think! It's not difficult to find a vocal coach in that there London.....just pick up theatrical newspaper The Stage.....you'll find them in the ad's section near the back.

Finding a vocal coach is very easy, finding a good "vocal coach" is very very difficult. Most of them will spoil your voice (and your money), they're kind of "vocal cheerleaders" like: "C'mon!, you can make it! give it more support, sing from the diafragm..." "Give it more support" and "sing from the diafragm" are 2 signs you must run like hell... Think that anyone can announce himself as "vocal coach"... you can make it too, anyone... Quite disgusting. Seth Riggs is good, he charges like 6000 $ an hour. http://www.sethriggs.com/
