McCartney and Wings special 1979!

I know most have probably seen this, but I thought it very cool! Paul shows his capitalist side around 10:00 and the footage with family is priceless!!

Well I hadn't seen it before. A couple things I noticed: 1. There's a point where the narrator says that Paul actually sings 4 Beatles songs in the concert at Liverpool that opens the tour. Wow. A whopping 4 Beatles songs! That would make certain folks around here happy if he did that today. 2. It's interesting hearing him talk about why he put his kids in regular schools, as opposed to "posh" schools. He says that he feared a posh school would make his kids overprivileged, and he put them in regular schools because those schools were "just as good" and his kids were "privileged enough." Really an admirable attitude. 3. Is it just me or does Paul seem like he's just going through the motions in this entire film? You can tell he's lost whatever spark he had for Wings. When he talks throughout the video, there's just no energy or real enthusiasm. Even at the party for his family, his eyes look kinda dead. Like he'd rather be somewhere else. 4. He looks gorgeous, though.

I love these videos from Wings days... The comment did give me a chuckle about the 4 Beatles songs...

Paul has gone on record a few times saying he was bored with Wings by that period. Could be selective memory...but there is the video.

Arh ta very much for that link brought back many happy memories of my first macca concert and the queuing up overnight. Not showing his capitalist side at 10.00 mins in, actually showing his hometown pride, reacting to the media's preception that liverpool was a city without hope and a future, yeap they were doing that all through the 70's long before Thatcher came to power.

I like his voice in the live version of "Got to get you into my life".

While he does look a little bored in this video, and in this period, I like the honesty of it; there seems to be a little less of the diplomatic sheen you tend to get from his interviews today. Yes, maybe he's mellowed now, and that's also what might be coming across these days - but I like the honesty of this period; like he's a little less bothered of what people think. ...and I like the fact he was focusing on being more of a forward-looking artist at this point, and less of a 'Beatles machine' - even if he is seemingly getting a little tired with his then current project.

aww brilliant video! thanks so much for the link So good to see stuff from that tour, it gets glossed over on any retrospective usually. I've seen a gig at the royal court, unfortunately it wasn't that one
