The "Ram" Remaster Thread

£65 for the deluxe edition is what I was expecting. Pretty good considering the prices of the other deluxe versions and what your getting. I don't understand why its so much more for a plain t-shirt and lithograph!
It's not plain. Click on the link (where it says "t-shirt details") to see the back of the T-shirt which has Ram-era images of Paul all over it. I like it a lot actually. The thing is, I want the t-shirt but NOT the lithograph. I just don't put that kind of stuff on my walls but I would definitely wear the t-shirt. Why not sell the shirt by itself?

Never bothered checking tbh, having seen it now its still not worth that amount of money. £20 maybe at a push.

Im not going to rush and pre-order it off pm.com tho. Just going to leave it a week to see what happens with amazon etc. They will lower their prices I reckon.

Um..yeah it is plain. It's very simple to make the exact same collage in paint or photoshop, print it on iron on paper and iron it on a tshirt. $20 dollars at Michaels. The quality of the shirt, if like the premium member shirt, is lower than $20.

Paul's T-shirts on his site are ALL over priced. The only time I spent $40-plus for a T-shirt was for a limited edition Beatles T-shirt I bought from Restoration Hardware. And I LOVE that shirt so I have no regrets. But $40 for a concert T-shirt? Um, no way. And like I said, I would definitely buy the Ram T-shirt but I'm not going to pay for a lithograph that I don't want. So I'll be passing on that. I'm sticking with Amazon for now, too. Free shipping plus a cheaper price? Sold.

That's fair enough. If you want something bad enough then you are happy to pay for it. I am more than happy to pay £65 for the deluxe edition as this is my favourite album of all time but I'm definitely not paying for the tshirt and lithograph. I got an amazing wings over america t shirt for $18 off ebay and I love it. Thats the sort of prices I would expect for a t shirt unless it was limited edition.

CMack obviously thought the shirt only said "RAM" on it. That's what he meant by "plain." And I was explaining that it's got a design on the back. I'm not artsy, I don't use Photoshop, and I don't have time to be making T-shirts so I'd be happy to pay $30 for this Ram shirt -- if it was sold on it own -- as it's something I would never do myself.

I just think ever since Paul switched over to paying for membership, etc etc, it has clearly shown how lazy of a company MPL is.

I feel the same about Ram and this is probably the last reissue that I am going deluxe on. All the rest I think I'm just going to do the 2 CD edition, as those albums aren't my favorites.

Paul's T-shirts were uninspired long before the premium membership started. That's nothing new.

The whole process is wearing a bit thin tbh. This November it will have been 2 years since BOTR and we have 4 albums. We may have more by then but I wouldn't hold my breath. To me its all been about what's on offer on the deluxe set whether I've wanted to buy it or not. I didn't feel McCartney was worth it and nor did I think BOTR was worth it (but hmv made a blooper and gave me one when I ordered the 2cd 1dvd version)! I want to get McCartney II because its my favourite after Ram but I couldn't afford it when it came out unfortunately, is it worth it?

Yup, that's why I said that ever since he switched over to us paying, you can clearly see that now. They aren't making any efforts at hardly anything.

To be completely honest with you it's hard for me to tell a difference in the remasters unless I'm wearing headphones, and really, who is listening to his music wearing headphones most of the time.

In terms of the music alone, McCartney II has the most generous offerings and is the best of all of the deluxe editions, IMO. The 3rd CD has some great extended versions so if you're a Mc II fan, and I am, I felt it was well worth it, especially since I got it for $50. And the book, as usual, is terrific. I don't have a problem with the pace of the releases so far. It's helped my budget to have them spread out, and I like how it keeps his solo work in the public eye.

Thanks for that, I'm thinking of getting it but concentrating on Ram first and foremost. There are plenty of his albums I would gladly get a deluxe version of aslong as I felt the material was worth it. However, who know's what albums will get this treatment. I can't see him doing them all but we can wait and see. Thats true, a positive side too it. But even if there was a timetable so we could atleast know what's in the pipeline for the course.

God forbid MPL should let fans know what to expect on the release schedule. : I am SO looking forward to this Ram release, though -- for the music but also for all the goodies. It'll be fun to pore over those lyrics sheets. Can't wait.

im not sure whats so 'amazing'. the usual nice packaging with a retro feel.hardly anything worth getting excited about.i would sooner have someing unreleased/. i shall bide my time and pick this up for about £20-£30 in 6 months time just like the rest of his superdelux editions.
I think its because its the first real glimpse of what your getting and the packaging its in and its friggin' Ram man. Although considering McCartney & McCartney II are still £50-£60 nearly a year on I don't think you'll be getting this one cheap that quick.
if you shop smart there is always a way to get cheaper. i could order the 'super delux ' RAM right now for around £70 if i wanted to .but i dont. simply use cashback sites with a decent deal AND make sure you have a discount. by the same token i could get the 'mccartney delux' for around £45 no problem!
-
HMV have the super deluxe at £12 instead of £65.Defo a mistake but wonder if they would notice.
-
Well I paid less than £45 when I bought McCartney I and II when they were first released. The deals for both of them were much better than the prices Paul has listed for Ram, although the Ram box set is of course far more elaborate. But then Ram is a more valuable commodity, I guess. Still, at this point, the best deal for those who just want the 2-disc album is Amazon, which has it listed at $11.88. Paul is asking $16.99, which is just too high.
