Only 9 days to go and starting to get giddy now.Back Seat of My Car is going on first. Then Monkberry & Dear Boy.Onto shuffle after that.

RAM Fever is setting in. Think It will just be played from start to finish one disc after another.

Same. It's a GREAT album! Macca is vocally at his vvvvvery best!

YES! Ram on! Wouldn't that be cool to have the rock on emoticon say RAM ON!

I have to say that for the first time since Paul initiated this 'Archives' series, I'm going drop the money on the full blown deluxe version...the first several releases, I just made sure I got the original album + at least a bonus CD of unreleased material/alternate takes...being that I'm not a DVD/Visual person, I'm not always keen on dropping extra money on DVDs (although in saying that, I do have a healthy Paul McCartney DVD collection... PS - I'm sure most everyone got the email from the main site regarding being able to pre-order through PM.com (kinda old news - I got mine either early this past week or late last week)...But just in case someone didn't get it, or if it dropped into their junk email box and you didn't check that, I thought I'd give a little reminder

Good review in The Word this month from John Harris and a whole page too, at last some decent coverage for a change. He doesn't over praise the album, he doesn't like Eat At Home, Smile Away and half of Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey that much, but he loves Too Many People, Dear Boy, Ram On, Monkberry Moon Delight and especially The Back Seat Of My Car so it's a fairly balanced appraisal.
That's great to hear. What didn't the reviewer like about Eat at Home? I'm curious.
He thought Eat At Home and Smile Away were silly and flimsy.
I think Paul has a quirky sense of humor that you either get or you don't get...admittedly, my mood can put me on one side or the other regarding that topic and while I always like Eat at Home, I find Smile Away to be borderline great or just 'ho hum' depending whether I'm 'feeling it' at the moment

Guess what? Just bought Uncut and read the feature and Paul interview on Ram. Actually, that is a total lie, it is on the Beatles break up. The music on Ram is hardly mentioned. I can see it now, Back to the Egg reissue, is really just Paul's struggle to cope after 9 years without the Beatles and how he coped was going back to a raw rock sound. Bollox

TYPICAL! : I can't believe with only a week to the release that there has been so little coverage of Ram. The effort he's put into this remaster and he's not even giving it any promotion. Every album is probably going to get related to The Beatles. The programme he did on ITV for BOTR started off with The Beatles too.

At least BOTR got a TV show, nobody except the real die hard fans will even know about this release. What a mess from Paul's PR team!! He has a real chance to get people to re-evaluate his solo career but he's just feckin it up!!

Oh for god's sake. : : : Sigh. Well at least Uncut gave it 4 stars. It sounds like the Word magazine article focuses more on the music. This is partly just Uncut looking for an "angle" -- like the way most articles and reviews of Brian Wilson's Smile always focus on his mental breakdown. Perhaps these writers just aren't musically knowledgeable enough to write about the music, so they focus on the history and the band infighting. And of course Paul contributes to it by talking on and on about the Beatles, rather than about, you know, RAM. Still, given that some of the lyrics are about John, I suppose he can't avoid the subject entirely. It's just tiresome to have that dominate at the expense of what's interesting musically about the record.

Same here, man. I've been going with the mid-level sets for each release, viewing the deluxe ones as cool but unnecessary, but Ram's a whole other animal. It's funny though, my brother, who's a Paul fan, just more casual than me, saw a copy of the BOTR deluxe and said something to the effect of 'These are nice, with as much Paul stuff as you waste money on, why wouldn't you get these?' So maybe I'll break down and do it at some point.

Only UK press stuff I've seen is the photo gallery on the online Guardian website. Love the homepage on the new PM site, though Paul's blurb could have done with some proof reading. Was hoping for a Radio 2 Sounds of the Seventies special or something!??

Hey all, first post! So, just wanted to let peeps know that I bought the Ram deluxe box on amazon Canada. It's very cheap. I'm in Ireland. Box and shipping came to about ?86. Paul's store wanted ?23 for shipping alone! It would have been ?101 if is bought it from there. So check out amazon Canada, Europe peeps. The shipping is well priced. It's 2-4 days shipping also. That's what I found the cheapest anyways! can't wait for it now!

I'm excited about the release, but I wish there was an 'a la carte' option. I just want the regular disc, the bonus disc and Thrillington. But I guess I am going to have to settle for the Special Edition b/c my husband will kill me if I spend $90 on an album I know you get a lot, but still, that's a lot of cashola. Still excited though!!!! BTW, welcome Mictko!

I love this paragraph of the review:
The album manages to capture, from start to finish, McCartney?s unfettered joy in making music. The songs, which positively radiate warmth, are unpredictable, stuffed to the brim with brilliant ideas. After some low-key auditions, drummer Denny Seiwell was chosen to participate, along with guitarist David Spinozza. Hugh McCracken stepped in as guitarist mid-way through the sessions. McCartney played guitar or keyboards, dubbing his bass only after the basic tracks had been recorded. Linda McCartney provided harmony vocals under her husband?s strict tutelage. The combination resulted in nothing short of a pop masterpiece.
Well, yes.
