I stumbled across this on Sky Arts last night. Paul was on fine voice and it was a great relief to watch him, without worrying that his voice would creak and strain at any moment. This concert was 2-3 years ago, so not that long ago, so maybe he was suffering from a cold or something when he did his recent royal/olympics appearances. He certainly seemed to be on better form at the African Music Concert last week. I still think that the band should be "mixed up". What about getting Neil Finn to play 2nd guitar and bass, and he would also help with the backing vocals that the rest of the band struggle with. Robbie McIntosh is so much better a lead guitarist than Rusty, but maybe someone younger would be better, again someone who could do harmonies. What about a radical idea-Paul to play lead guitar, he always plays it better than Rusty anyway-or Brian Ray to take over lead guitar. The set list should be shaken up also, and old favorites like Hey Jude and Let Me Roll It should be put to bed, along with some others. What is also evident is that he sounds better at his own concerts, than he does at these event style concerts. Perhaps he has better control of the sound and has his voice better warmed up.
