Wings Over America & Rock Show DVD Reissue CONFIRMED

That's good news though I was hoping for Venus and Mars. Both would be even better. Thanks for the news.

It's nice to have some new Paul news to report...it's radio silence on the new album, the remasters, or the spring/summer tour right now!

Just saw this on FB: "Hear Music is planning a ?June-ish? release for the remastered ?Wings Over America,? the latest entry in the McCartney Archive Collection reissue series, Beatlefan has learned exclusively. And a highly reputable inside source tells Beatlefan the collection definitely will include a DVD of the ?Rockshow? tour film in addition to ?far more bells and whistles? than any of the other Macca archive releases to date. More details in Beatlefan/EXTRA! #317."
I have subscribed to Beatlefan magazine since 1980 (it's published here in GA) and it's quite a reputable source. This sounds fantastic!

If you want to see Paul live in the spring, you will need this website: http://www.tam.com.br/ (joking)

Hard to believe there were any "bells and whistles" besides Junior's Farm played in Australia in the 1975 part if the tour and more than any of the previous archive releases? I thought McCartney II had a ton of bells and whistles. This's great news!

I'm pretty sure that "bells and whistles" is not meant as audio content, but as other content: posters, tourprograms, photobooks, scarfs, tour diaries, and the likes. The complete Rock Show movie with all songs will of course be included on a dvd/bluray. Maybe "Wings over the world" with Australian footage will also be included on dvd/bluray. Audio wise "Junior's Farm" and "Little woman love/C Moon" are the only other songs performed on the tour (I think).

More confirmation of WOA reissue. The news is in a Beatles Examiner story about how Denny Laine is working on his autobiography (and Paul knows about the book and approves) and there's a link in the story to an interview with Denny. http://www.examiner.com/article/former-wings-member-denny-laine-at-work-on-an-autobiography Denny says in the linked article (in some magazine called The Hippo that I've never heard of) that Rolling Stone Magazine did a "big interview" with him recently about the Wings Over America reissue. He said he couldn't talk about the reissue but that it's coming soon. So he was involved in the reissue and is helping promote it.

If true, then this is very good news indeed

While Wings were rehearsing for their 1975-1976 world tour, the band considered adding Fool On The Hill, Let It Be & Hey Jude to the setlist but rejected all 3. Hey Jude would've been the show closer instead of Soily.

No "Soily"? Glad the band had sense!

I'm not sure I'd agree with you on that. If Paul had closed the show each night with Hey Jude, the audience would have gone insane! I remember so clearly the crowd reaction to the 5 Beatle songs he did perform. While I really enjoyed hearing Soily, Hey Jude would have been a classic closer for that tour...as would probably Get Back.

Since he was playing with a new band, I don't think it would have been a good idea to close with a Beatles' song. Doing the five they did was enough. I'm glad he did "Soily" as it sounds amazing live!

I agree! We were flipping out over Yesterday and the other Beatle songs in 1976--we would have imploded if he'd played Hey Jude back then!

Disagree. I was there too & I LOVED Soily.

"People come to our concerts Beatle fans, but they leave Wings fans." -Paul McCartney, 1976

Well the 79 tour saw "Fool On The Hill" and "Let It Be", but I would loved to hear "Helter Skelter" during that tour as well.

So in a thread about Wings, you all are talking about ... Beatles songs? Oh the irony. I didn't think I was going to buy the WOA reissue because (1) I don't care for "live" albums as a rule and (2) well, I guess there is no No. 2. But now I think the inclusion of the Rockshow DVD -- and if there are plenty of photos and interviews -- might make it worth having. Because I need to blow more money on Paul. : (Note to self: Get head examined.)

we're opposites. this was the one I for sure will buy. but then again we're in different boats as I already own all his albums, you I think are picking them up for the first time. next you'll have to go back and compare all these new remasters with the old vinyl and Paul's vinyl is cheap all over, you could get everything (enough to get you solidly started anyway) for $100. I'm really looking forward to this as a brightening up for the music would be interesting to hear, and could over all help it. and the horns, how those will be placed in the mix, and if the bass will be brought down at all (I hope not). so much I'm looking forward for with this one. and then the DVD will be a historic video documentary. buried away for so long again why exactly? I wonder if it somehow solves the JFK assassination or something Well we must wait not much longer

Maybe WOA will be the album that changes my mind about the value of owning live albums. We'll see. I'll probably just end up liking all the goodies, but I'm going to give it a chance.
