we're opposites. this was the one I for sure will buy. but then again we're in different boats as I already own all his albums, you I think are picking them up for the first time. next you'll have to go back and compare all these new remasters with the old vinyl and Paul's vinyl is cheap all over, you could get everything (enough to get you solidly started anyway) for $100. I'm really looking forward to this as a brightening up for the music would be interesting to hear, and could over all help it. and the horns, how those will be placed in the mix, and if the bass will be brought down at all (I hope not). so much I'm looking forward for with this one. and then the DVD will be a historic video documentary. buried away for so long again why exactly? I wonder if it somehow solves the JFK assassination or something Well we must wait not much longer
Maybe WOA will be the album that changes my mind about the value of owning live albums. We'll see. I'll probably just end up liking all the goodies, but I'm going to give it a chance.
You won't be sorry, believe me!

exactly ladies, and the album is like the greatest hits of Wings, and they were smoking! I mean those are great performances. by Paul with new songs just going for it. I totally could have done without the Long & Winding Road, but I could see Paul's selecting that song to play. His life to that point was a long and winding road.. another thing is Paul does all my favorite Wings songs he'd done to that point. Its like if I were to select them myself I'd have close to his set. except the Richard Corey bit, never struck a chord with me. but That band just sounded great. I think for Paul in particular and in contrast to many artists, used to (when he was vocally on top of his game, 70-90's, translated really well onto recordings of live performances. Cause he was/is so sharp musically, doesn't flub notes, and to pull some of his stuff off you have to be sharp on the vocals. and he was really sharp on WOA.

I agree with kapoo and oobu24 100%.

I've said it here before, the way Paul was writing and his style was like one big Sgt Pepper album, from Pepper through V&M basically, the quality of music and the freshness of the sound and songs. Paul's artistic peak I'd say actually came after the Beatles. Maybe. Thats a thread topic poll. Do you think Paul was a superior songwriter with 'the Beatles' or with 'Wings & Solo'. now that I think about it I have to say Beatles because of their damn chart dominance. but songwise Paul kept hitting on new things first through those years. as the great Harry Nilsson once said 'a true artist as someone who's out in front of the rest of the pack, reporting what they are going through'. That sort of was Paul musically, from 167-1976. no one was better or pushed rock more. Zepplin? maybe. bands got edgy, but in terms of melodies I still go with Macca. in terms of 'awesome' maybe Zepplin the-hayellmeye-talking about!? Wings Over America is no doubt one of the best Live albums ever done. cause of song quality and rocking performance. MC Hammer can't touch dat.

Thats one of my fav's on the album, great performance. Man McCartney sings that amazingly. I've said this before on here but I have the triple disc LP and that side 4 is the money. such a pure McCartney listen. and its funny cause he's on keyboards for all those songs. so much style in the songs though. Paul's real sharp on the organ he plays on Magneto. and the band with the 'oooo oooo oooo's, the thumping Denny bass and young Jimmy ripping the guitar bits.. its great. And the lovely Linda

gratuitous pic, why not. I just feeling like talking about this impending WOA remaster so someone say something so I can over analyze it like I like to do

Well I've been reading various Web reviews of WOA and, as usual for Paul's solo work, they are all over the map. I read one review that calls the songs "pedestrian" and the band's performance "workmanlike" and the next review praises the band's performance as "breaktaking" and says the live setting really strengthens the Wings songs. So I'm wondering: What do people think today's reviewers will think of this reissue? Up to now, the reviews of Paul's reissues have been largely positive (and the reviews for Ram were fantastic). Just curious: Do you think the WOA reissue will be the first one of Paul's reissues that gets more mixed reviews?

Interesting. this may be an unfortunate sign that the remastering didn't do that much for the overall sound of the album. To call the songs pedestrian makes no sense though, so we can eliminate that review right there. The original of this record is amazing. will it sound any better, thats the question. Don't Live albums tend to sell less that studio albums in general? I don't see how it could get any worse reveiws than McCartney II. and that one was praised. this one should be worshipped by that criteria.

I should clarify, I was referring to old reviews of the OLD versions of WOA. There aren't any reviews out yet of the WOA reissue. I was just wondering how people think the music press will greet this reissue. I think you're right that the audience for a live album is far narrower than for a studio album. MPL and Hear Music better price this one reasonably or it's not going to sell all that well.

Kapoo, I thought I was the only one so crazy for Magneto and Titanium Man!! I love this album and certainly hope it gets great reviews when the remaster is issued!
