Well, I learned about Jimmy from you on this board and I'm glad I did though it wasn't until I got the full Rockshow that I really heard it for myself in all many years again. Love Medicine Jar. Great song. and yeah, he could play guitar right up there with the best.

Well, here's what I'd like to know: What was the very first thing Jimmy ever did with Paul McCartney? And what was the very last project Jimmy worked on with Paul McCartney?

^ His first work was Juniors Farm, and London Town sessions were the last things, i read somewhere Jimmy plays on the songs London Town, Cafe On The Left Bank, I've Had Enough, With A Little Luck, Famous Groupies, Don't Let It Bring You Down, Morse Moose and the Grey Goose (He also plays on Girls School). Coincidently those are my fave songs on the album! (Not including Famous groupies though...) As for Jimmy in general - i always loved "Something in the air" by thunderclap newman, first heard it in about 88 when i was 13, and when i found out Jimmy played on it i was well chuffed (as the british saying goes!), as it gave one of my all time fave songs a Paul link too!
Oh and Medicine Jar rocks

I think JUNIOR'S FARM was the first thing Jimmy did with Paul, then VENUS AND MARS and WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND, then WINGS OVER AMERICA then part of LONDON TOWN. I recall he was on the song GIRL SCHOOL as well. I am so glad I saw Jimmy with Wings in Denver in 1976, he was REALLY good and cool too.

How long before this gets moved to the "Band on the Run" forum? I was pleasantly surprised to hear Paul and Linda discussing Jimmy during the 1969 "Get Back" tapes.

What he said!Agreed. However, I love "Famous Groupies." Love the ending -- it's like a satire of Saturday morning cartoon theme-songs.

The first thing I believe was for an unreleased song called Luxy, which was recorded in Paris in November 1973. It was a promo track to have been used by Radio Luxembourg. The last session was probably on Paul's farm in Augusr 1977 for one of the 'London Town' tracks.

You can certainly find a lot of information about Jimmy's playing and sessions with Paul in my book about McCartney recordings. Junior's Farm was the first song officially released by Wings that included Jimmy, but curiously was the last recorded during the Nashville sessions. As for London Town, Jimmy certainly played on all the songs indicated on the booklet of the album, but in some cases (i.e. With A Little Luck) there's no sign of his involvement. In some other songs (Don't Let It Bring You Down) he did not play lead, that was handled by Paul himself. Jimmy was in Scotland in August 1977, for the overdubbing sessions on the song London Town, but left before 13th, the day of the recording of Mull Of Kintyre.

Which, if you recall, were actually new and being broadcast during the time that song was made. It was the mid-70s about.
