Come on Paul, get this on your next LP/CD! The crew you have now would crush it! feel free to merge this one if it is a repeat topic/thread

It's an exciting wild rocker that goes all-out, might put Paul through the wringer as it's so intense, do a number on his vocal chords and feel like all those shrieks are wearing them out, in other words maybe he should spare his golden throat, maybe, you think? Save them for the big hits. A movie I saw last nite showed the lead actor saying he'd burn down the place if Jagger didn't sing "Satisfaction" LOL, and other hits, in concert...made me realize anew that's a big consideration on set lists, like it or not.

As much as I love "Soily," I'd highly doubt Paul would perform it because he's probably embarrassed about the lyrics. Recall the recent interview where he expressed embarrassment over the lyrics in "Rock Show". Imagine how he feels about "Soily"!

Very true, always thought this would be perfect song to end the first encore.

            Maybe I'm amazed !!

And I think they are some really cool lyrics! Hard to figure out what embarrasses him and what doesn't. What is so stunning about the lyrics to Lovely Rita? I think Paul is very proud of the invented people in his songs, like Rita and Eleanor Rigby.

I don't ever have a problem with his lyrics. For me it's always about the music, vocal and production. Far too much emphasis on lyrics these days.

Eh, never understood what the fuss is about this one...sorry to disagree. There are so many more worthy songs for Paul to sing!

Some years ago I remember an interview in which Paul was asked about one of the stranger lines in Soily and said, "That must've been drug-induced."

"The only true patriotism, the only rational patriotism is loyalty to the nation all the time, loyalty to government when it deserves it."

People like myself like it because it really rocks, just watch Rockshow movie. As for worthy songs, he plays songs like "All Together Now" and "Benefit For Mr. Kite" which are not exactly songs people were dying to hear live so why not "Soily". Yes, there are other solo songs I would rather hear him play but IMO 'Soily" would be a great ending for the 1rst encore.

                            Maybe I'm amazed !!

He could shave out the so called embarrassing lyrics just like he did with Rockshow when he performed that one live in recent years...I like the song, but always thought it was just a tad too long...so this could be the perfect remedy

If he does somehow revive "Soily" in concert, I'd rather he didn't shorten it in any way. I love the fact he brought back "Rock Show" a few years back, but I was slightly disappointed that he didn't do the whole thing.

I still remember vividly walking away down Wembley Way following the final show of the 75/76 world tour with my ears ringing such was the volume of the final encore, Soily. In fact I made it back to Liverpool street station and my ears were still throbbing. That number was so LOUD.
